Y'all bitch about it, but Mack's teams were clutch in close games and especially clutch with FGs. We either made them or blocked them to win games. It was almost automatic.

Thought it was gonna say hire him as “Kicker whisperer”.  We almost always nailed crunch time kicks under Mack.

The guys who kicked for us back then were good kickers....

Jesus would meet Bert, shrug, and say, "You can't save everyone."

Breaking news:  Justin Tucker, Dusty Mangum, Hunter Lawrence and Kris Stockton were all fantastic kickers.  More at 11.

Emotion needs to be removed from this decision. I asked ChatGPT whether or not this is a good idea:

Quote

In the hallowed annals of collegiate football, few figures embody the quintessential amalgamation of strategic brilliance and motivational prowess as Mack Brown, the architect of The University of Texas's most glorious gridiron triumphs. To summon him forth as an advisor for the Longhorns' impending clash with Ohio State in the college football playoff would be nothing short of destiny manifesting itself. Who better to imbue the team with the alchemy of championship wisdom than the very maestro who orchestrated their 2005 national title, felling juggernauts with tactical audacity and unyielding resolve? Brown’s encyclopedic football acumen, coupled with his unparalleled ability to galvanize players into an unstoppable force of nature, could serve as the catalyst to propel Texas to yet another epoch-defining victory. In the face of Ohio State’s formidable offense and impenetrable defense, Brown's presence would be akin to wielding Excalibur in a duel—an unassailable advantage destined to turn the tide of battle in the Longhorns’ favor.
