It still baffles me that Bush was even in the running for the Heisman.

VY should have won but Reggie averaged 8.7 ypc that year.  That's invitation worthy at worst.

Reggie was a freak.

The most annoying part of that Heisman race was all the people counting his kick return yards in his final stats down the stretch. "Reggie Bush had 385 total yards tonight!" and 200 of it would be special teams or some shit.

In the meantime, VY had every team whipped by halftime and Nordgren was in there running clock and fumbling to himself (before getting laid after the game).  VY would have been hell on wheels on a kick return.

I don’t care how shitty both teams ended up being. 2016 ND was a badass game

I scared the shit out of my son who was 6 at the time at the end of that game. It was his first game to attend and I went nuts at the end screaming and picked him up and hoisted him over my head. That was his first of many experiences of me being a total lunatic watching longhorn fooball.

My son was 4 months old and asleep on the couch with my wife. I’ve never celebrated so silently in my life.

At this point the disrespect for our team, what they've accomplished, and how they've played is basically triggering me.

I know implicitly it's bc the narrative is always to shit on and hate Texas but it's getting very annoying.

Every serious fan watching the sport saw that every team this year is beatable and nothing was certain.  But now it's all conveniently forgotten.

Praying to the CFB gods this team is fired up to a level last seen in bumfuck Tuscaloosa.

It's because the vast majority of pundits and non-Texas college football fans think we're lucky to be here and we're playing a team that has looked unbeatable in their two playoff games.

Also the narrative of the SEC being total shit coincided with UGA getting beat prior to this game as well.   Lol figures that would shift the season we start playing well.

Not even sure why we are playing this game. Just forfeit and let Ohio State rest for ND... I just posted Skip because he's easy to pile on but the below is the general consensus around the country, fans and media. Is it because Texas needed a prayer to beat ASU, while Ohio St cruised to 2 easy victories, one being against the #1 team? Maybe.

Gotta convince the people that vote and don’t watch. Like counting snaps.

Yeah?  Fuck them.  Maybe we beat THEM by 44%

Quote

The betting public, which has been invested in Ohio State all season, is squarely behind the Buckeyes against Texas on Friday. Approximately 72% of the bets placed -- and 82% of the money wagered -- on the Cotton Bowl at ESPN BET was on Ohio State as of Friday morning.

I don't have the numbers, but I am pretty sure when we have a first down play that doesn't gain any yards or loses yards (whether it was a run or a pass), Sark calls a run when it's second and long like 99% of the time.  This usually leads to third and long so not a fan of running on second and 10 or second 14.

I am never more confident in our offense than I am on 3rd and long.

is that rational? meaning what is Texas' rank in CFB in terms of converting 3rd and long?  I actually think Quinn is a baller in big games and I think he's nails when either (1) the run game is working, or (2) he's allowed to go empty 5 wide shotgun no PA.

It's a 50/50 game. Always has been. Always will be.

People are dumb and easily influenced. If we played the week after their Michigan game we'd be TD favorites. 5-6 weeks later they're TD favorites because AZ St played their asses off trying to win while we played not to lose.

It's a 50/50 game.

Sark has the horses to win the game. He needs to bring the running game to open the passing ,  Ewers has to avoid mistakes and take shots downfield.  Go Horns

Dude, we are about to toss that cookie around. We are not establishing the run first. We have to spread the ball around and keep them honest with the run. If things are going well we probably see some positives in the run game in the second half

Wonder what they'll say if Texas actually wins this.

Bet it'll be a bunch of "Day messed up/coached poorly" or "OSU keep having turnovers or making mistakes" and not really giving Texas Credit.

But Fuck it.  We move.

This is along the lines of what I’ve been kicking around in my head for a few days.

Jaylon turns and makes the block for a pick 6 and Texas wins the SEC CCG. That changes the entire media narrative around this game.

Do you really care?  I don't give a flying fuck what the talking heads are spouting as long as my team wins.

This is where I’m at. Sark wants to pass to open up the run. And this game is a game where you do that. We’re not going to run it down their throats in the first quarter. But we may in the 4th.

Fuck these jort-wearing, fat cunted, cocksuckers. Hit them in the fucking mouth early and force that shit bag QB into a couple of turnovers just like he was accustomed to at Kstate. And for the love of fucking god, please get Helm the ball early to help get Ewers into a rhythm. Maybe try a few slants and curl routes instead of drive-killing downfield bombs that have little chance of success. And would it fucking kill you to limit god damn fucking penalties? This team should come out fucking pissed off due to their shitty last game. Go beat the fucking bag out of an overhyped buckeye team.

I think if you come in trying to manufacture a run game first, you will lose.  Gotta pass to start, prioritizing the intermediate levels enough to peel our LBs into coverage and away from the LOS, and get our safeties looking shallow.

Texas played 97 d snaps against ASU. Whatever it is Texas good.

And the yards per play average against ASU was actually quite good at 5.25. And if you take out the 70+ yards from the two 4th down trick plays (punt and half back pass), that number is right around the defense's season average of 4.28 per play.

We rotate, and we rotate well. We even sometimes are able to sneak in subs when teams run tempo.

Just have to stop the counter with 6 men in the box and take away the 1st read for Howard. Not sure he has been forced to go to his second read in these playoffs. Do that and you give Simmons a chance to hit Howard. Ryan Day does not usually make a many in-game adjustments. He may be the Texas MVP of this game, if Texas takes away the counter.

Quinn has to hit passes outside the hashes. OSU pass defense is built to take away the middle of the field. CBs are the weakest part of the OSU defense. OZ is likely dead in this one. The Edges are NFL guys and they usually stack a LB over them. The caveat is Banks and Williams might be able to move them 1 on 1. Sark needs to have a pivot from OZ.
