2024 Week 17 - Cotton Bowl CFP Semifinal Texas vs Ohio State

Great matchup. I think we can slow/stop their run game and make Howard make plays. Big test on the outside. Jeremiah Smith is ridiculous but Egbuka can be contained.

Probably need 30 points to win which is a big ask. Definitely the best defense other than Georgia that we’ve played this year l, and I’d say Ohio State’s may be better overall - but maybe not where they can really attack our obvious weaknesses?

Any idea how the tickets/seating for the Cotton Bowl work?  Is it likely to be 50/50 tOSU and Texas fans or is it likely to be weighted in Texas favor?  Anyone know which team is the "home" team (and wearing their home unis)?

We are home as the higher seed. The game is in Texas. There will be more Texas fans.  Tickets get allotted in a lot of ways. Some to schools some through Cotton Bowl itself etc. But again the game is here so well yea

It will be 70% Texas fans. Dallas people have money and will outcompete the Ohio people for tickets.

The semi finals and finals were always going to be coin flips. There were no dominate teams this year and every team has warts. Yes OSU has played lights out the past 2 games but they arent some mythical team. Each of the past 2 games they had reason to be upset and play with their hair on fire and they did. The blueprint is there to beat them and we have the horses to do it. 2 coin flips to be the champs. Thats how the next 2 games will be. Best we could ask for with this team and its make up.

Welp at this point we suck now, so least we won’t have to worry about pats on the backs.

everywhere you look , “Texas sucks” “Texas got bailed out” , “Sark shits down his leg” “Texas can’t run the ball”

Like I’ve stated in another thread, Sark and Quinn need to muster that 2023 Bama energy when nobody thought it could happen.

Do you pussies not realize we have won the Cotton Bowl NINE more times than them?

We haven't played in the Cotton Bowl since the game was played in the Cotton Bowl.

Each school only gets 13k seats.

THIS is why the bowls need to die.

Az St game was not a let down. Two very good teams battled damn hard. Az State coaching staff did a damn good job of adjusting in game. Any playoff W is not a let down

you live to play another week

I see your point but let’s be real, Texas put themselves in that position

it was 24-8 with 6 min left with the ball, and we found a way to give up 23 points in 3-4 mins. That’s a let down but give Arizona Stte credit, they capitalized. But we definitely let them into that game.

It's kind of ridiculous to look at that last 6 min of regulation in isolation.

First of all, we gave up 16. You only get to 23 by including the first OT, which is a different animal altogether.

And those 16 came when, yes, we made some mistakes, but it's not like it was some complete collapse. The defense was absolutely gassed. There was a lot that led to those two scores late in the 4th.

This is the first game we've played as an underdog all year.   Put me in the camp that I feel like that might be a good thing psychologically for this team.   But we're going to have to play our best game of the season to win for sure.  Absolutely have to play complimentary football.  Our defense can't be on the field all game.   We can't have stupid pre-snap penalties that constantly put us behind the chains.  Cannot lose the turnover battle.   We do all those things it absolutely should be a 4th quarter game.  But Ohio St. also has the ability to run us out of the gym if they bring their A game and we play like we did the 2nd half yesterday.

Also interested to hear injury news.  The wear and tear on this team is a real factor with the schedule we've played the last 2 months.  I'm assuming at this point only practicing in shells and not tackling to the ground in practice.   Defense in particular needs time to recover after playing all those snaps yesterday.  We're certainly at a disadvantage from that standpoint.

I mean you can look at whatever you want, I chose to look at the last few min that due to the fact that’s when things changed.
and thus my point still stands, I understand other things contributed but we allowed ASU To hang around in that game and make a run late.

but oh well spilled milk, on to Ohio State
