The Blake Lively (Ryan Reynolds's wife) Controversy

This story is actually pretty interesting. It's looking more and more like Lively was in the wrong here and tried to fuck over Baldoni (the director).

Lively is much, much more powerful in Hollywood than Baldoni. And she tried to use that power (with help from Ryan Reynolds and even Taylor Swift) to destroy him. A little gender role reversal from the typical Hollywood bullshit.

The only guarantee here is that two narcissist egomaniacal cunts clashed.  The specifics will be impossible to sort out.

I guess, but right now based on evidence/texts being released, Baldoni doesn't look like a bad person...yet . If this drama keeps getting a lot of attention, it will not be good for Ryan Reynolds either.

If this case goes to trial, my guess is:

1. Blake Lively's career is over. It might be over already.

2. Ryan Reynolds's popularity and therefore his movie career will take a significant hit.

3. Taylor Swift's involvement will lose her some fans. Not anything noticeable, but her public persona will get dinged a bit. Some Swifties are already vocally disappointed.

Not a good look when you (with collaboration from your husband) publicly accuse someone of abuse and harassment, and the receipts end up showing you are the actual abuser, manipulator, and bully. Women, understandably, are fucking pissed with Lively as the evidence mounts against her. The gaslighting from the Lively camp is PR suicide.

Here’s some footage to go along with Blake Lively’s claims of sexual harassment.

I found it amusing that the Today Show people are so terrified of Lively that they refused to state the obvious (Lively's allegations don't match up with the video, at all)

The cast (including Jenny Slate) and author (Colleen Hoover) also took Lively's side from the start, and they will all feel the blowback as well. Hoover deleted her IG yesterday. She had 2 million followers. All her young female readers are furious with her.

This is a ridiculously long deep dive in to the case, but these two young women are intelligent and easy on the eyes if you want to get into the details. They initially backed Lively when she made the accusations, and have now done a 180. This is a powder keg situation and will create long lasting ramifications in Hollywood IMO.

And now Lively and Reynolds are trying to prevent more receipts from coming out: https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2025/01/22/blake-lively-ryan-reynolds-gag-order-justin-baldoni/77888098007/

The easiest explanation is that the no-name author and the non-A-listers received some kind of veiled threat and terrified them into submission.

They know they are fucked. I've seen some people say Lively's PR and legal team should back off of everything, say she had PPD (she had a kid shortly before filming), and that it affected her mindset through this ordeal. Won't happen, but that's how bad this is for her.

I think it's one of 2 scenarios:

1. Lively told all of them during filming that Baldoni was harassing her, and they believed her.  Even if they didn't see anything.

2. They know this is a total power play, that a prequel (and more money) was going to be made, and they chose to get behind Lively/Reynolds as they are much more powerful in the business. Classic Hollywood bullshit to people to turn a blind eye for their own survival.

The Today Show seems to think it's worthy of coverage. This is America dude

It's probably both, plus they have made an example of Baldoni.

Characterizing Hoover (largely considered the Godmother of BookTok and one of the best selling writers--albeit shlock) as a no-name is a choice. I think David Baldacci and all the mass-produced spy/action/legal thrillers are all schlocky but they are well-known, popular and sell tons as well.

Compared to Ryan Reynolds she's a nobody.

Yeah, and it's the right choice

That's a very strange standard to meet, but okay.

Meaning she's nowhere close to being an A-list actress and seems to be an overly inflated sense of self worth just because her husband is famous.

Go to the Football board and use Colleen Hoover's name. Let's see how many people there have ever heard of her or care enough to Google it. I doubt it's more than ten percent.

Such a stupid argument. It’s like me saying “Go to a romantic fiction forum and mention Steve Sarkesian and see how many have heard of him”

I bet his numbers there would be better than her numbers in a football forum. Do you actually believe Hoover was famous enough to withstand a PR attack from Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively?

You’re just talking out of your ass. Hoover was not the subject of any PR attack. She actually has sided with Lively.

Something about Ryan Reynolds’s personality makes it hard for me to believe he’d be married to someone that’s a super bitch.

Why? He seems like a pretty laid back, funny guy. Opposites attract.

I doubt 10% could name 5 books that don't have pictures; nonetheless, the author's demographic is teen girls and twentysomething women as well as their moms. I bet 90% of them know who she is

I’ll have you know Hank the Cowdog is 81 finely written masterpieces complete with illustrations, not pictures.

If you read more than teen fiction you'd understand the power dynamic that led Hoover to bend the knee to the clearly more powerful celebrity. Remember not that long ago you were trying to argue that Hoover was somehow on equal footing with Lively?

Man, I read the last coupla days worth of posts on this thread.  And I tried to give a shit.

And I just can't.

Some attractive rich people are attacking each other for reasons I don't really understand.  But in that dispute, one of them must be an angel and the other must be a devil.  I could try to expend some energy to figure out which is which....but I just can't seem to give a single fraction of a fuck.
