Then what do they do with the QB they drafted? Let him sit?

Maybe Darnold found the right situation but it could be a costly gamble if they pay him.

how comfortable would you feel turning over a 14-win team to a rookie with zero experience coming off an injury? they have to find something that works for everyone. that's why the GMs get the big bucks.

Vikings have a lot of offensive weapons. Darnold is not a long term answer to maximize this. I doubt McCarthy is either but they used a 1st rounder on them so they will roll with him over giving Darnold a big contract and still pay McCarthy. Especially if Darnold flames out this game and in the playoffs. Will make that decision much easier

Darnold is a good QB. You have to remember he started with the two worst qb killer franchises, the shitass Jets and shitass Panthers, and somehow survived. It's a miracle he's still in the league, much less winning 13 games.

Lots of potentially good qbs get ruined by horrible franchises. Darnold somehow made it through. The league isn't built to develop qbs due to the ridiculuous salaries, unfortunately. Give a guy credit for breaking the trend of failed high drafted qbs that get thrown under the bus.

O’Connell’s game management cost his team a chance at this.

Not sure the vikes would have been able to hold it together to win but he killed any chance of that with his 4th down decisions.

well Ive had funner games but that was pretty clear what was going to happen with missed RZ chances, dropped pick 6, FGs missed on the road vs the best team in the conference.

Have a feeling you will get the chance to run it back in a few weeks.

wildcard is the Rams? that's not a fun one. Vikings should still be favored, but not a great draw

Nah, ive seen this movie played out too many times where you go from a tease #1 seed/bye to your season over in 6 days but looks like the Rams game is MOnday night.

If GB beats Philly & that means GB @ Detroit lol

I'll take McVay over Vikings coach. Stafford over Darnold. Rams offensive weapons vs Vikings is a wash. Rams home field means zero, though.

But never trust Minnesota to win any game of consequence.

Rams have been bad on offense for the past month. And this year, certainly not hitting the marks that they did before. Conversely, their defense has been better than expected.

dumbest part about all of this is the shit sandwich we get served. but thats what happens when you lose twice to Detroit.

Win 3rd most games in the NFL, get to play a road game in the next week. what happened before they went to 7 teams and 1 bye? Would MN and Detroit been the 2 byes tonight even though theyre in the same division?

NFL will change this rule just like they changed the stupid ass OT coin flip rule for the playoffs after the Saints won a thriller but won the coin flip and kicked a FG. Shit needs to be like the NBA. last year the NW division were the 1-2-3 seeds in the west.  none of this automatic seed based-on location

Took awhile but Darnold is coming back down to what he is, not a good QB. This is a pathetic effort with what is on the line

I knew you would come out of the weeds to take your shots at Darnold after this game.  Predictable.

You were nowhere to be found for the last 6-7 weeks for some reason.

Top 2 seeds got a bye. The NFL is not changing this. If they were going to, they would have done it when they expanded the playoffs. They've always chosen to reward division winners, and that's coming from the owners, who no doubt have decided it is financially advantageous to do so

And thus concludes by far my most successful season picking NFL games.

This would been the year to use a proxy and sign up for one of those Vegas based super contests.  I doubt I'll ever sniff 65% over the course of a season again, and I wasted it on a $25 entry pool. Furk.

I know the top 2 got byes…but if they were from the same division could 2 teams get byes?

Four division winners were seeded 1-4 based on their records, so no, Minnesota would not have been the second seed or gotten a bye.
