Nearly identical teams playing each other.  Both have good ground games, QBs who are decent runners and okay passers.  Stout defenses.  Big, physical.  Some variable will have to insert itself for this one to be lopsided.

There is a realistic possibility that whoever wins this game is still debilitated from the flu when the play in the championship game

In 10 days?  Probably not.

I'm on team ND

1. Fuck Pedo State

2. I want to see the media tailspin from SEC SEC -> BIG 10 running football -> turned into TEXAS AND NOTRE DAME ARE BACK with no mention of conferences for a nice refresher

A national title featuring no Big 10 or legacy SEC schools would be refreshing.

I guess we get plenty of non Big 10 natties, I just like seeing more of them.

Matt Connolly: Notre Dame locker room battling flu outbreak ahead of Orange Bowl vs. Penn State

Quote

Notre Dame has already lost multiple players this year who are out with season-ending injuries. Now several Fighting Irish players are dealing with a sickness, too. On3’s Tyler Horka reports that several Notre Dame players are battling the flu ahead of the Orange Bowl against Penn State. Horka shared the news Thursday morning on Twitter, ahead of Thursday night’s Orange Bowl matchup. “Been told the flu is going around the Notre Dame locker room,” Horka posted. “Those who have it have it bad, but it sounds like that’s mostly backups and special teams players. Still something to monitor for the Fighting Irish going into the Orange Bowl vs. Penn State tonight.”

Having a flu outbreak in your locker room is obviously not ideal ahead of a College Football Playoff semifinal game. It will be interesting to see what impact, if any, it has on Notre Dame Thursday night. Notre Dame reached the semifinals of the CFP by beating Indiana and Georgia. The Fighting Irish are now just one win away from playing in the national championship game. The winner of the Notre Dame vs. Penn State game will face the winner of the Cotton Bowl between Texas and Ohio State for the national title.

The talent gap between whoever wins this game and Texas will be more debilitating than any flu.

There's also a realistic possibility that the flu talk is all BS.

This is where I’d be if we weren’t possibly playing the winner. Anyone have a compelling argument as to which team would be a better matchup for us if we get through to the final?

I don’t. I think I’d rather play Penn State because I am of the opinion their QB is butt. But both teams are similarly talented, constructed, and coached.
