Why do people put their hands over their hearts for the National Anthem? My annoyance makes me feel old, but yet I see olds doing it.

Well, youngsters today wear there ball caps backwards and use their hands to block the sun.

I'm in my 50s. We were taught to do it for the Pledge of Allegiance. Boys were taught to cover their heart with a hat if wearing one for the National Anthem. I don't remember being taught to put my hand over my heart for the Anthem, but it seems natural to do so.

Kids are too stupid these days to know the difference between the National Anthem and the Pledge of Obedience.

Are you really asking this question? Being patriotic bother you?

Not at all, I love this country. I just don't remember it being a thing growing up. I associate hand over heart with the Pledge Of Allegiance.

Carry on.
