Hearing Arch got dinged on that 4th down conversion.

I guess that’s why

Sark needs to work on his fucking redzone

Nobody even said the word targeting during all of the replays, and I’m not saying it should have been called but after all the talk about the no -targeting last game I was surprised because it was forceful contact to his head (as happens sometimes during a tackle) which is what people were claiming is textbook targeting.

I wouldn’t bet money on next year, manning is gonna be good but he’s green and well the rest of our problems aren’t leaving with Quinn.

I only mention Arch being much better because he's learned the offense for 2 years and he showed what he can do in his limited starts. He's the real deal. And he has so many weapons.

To me, they were both ultimately good, not great, college QBs.

Hoping Arch can step up to the "great" pedestal next season or in '26, and that might be what we need the most to get back to the promised land.

Arch is gonna (should) be a lot harder to scheme against than Quinn. Much more multidimensional. That alone should help open up the Sark offense.

I don't think Arch has to be great. He just has to be consistent and hit the open throws. Occasionally throwing a good deep ball. The plays were open all season. Quinn either didn't see the open guy, made a bad pass, or self-sacked by putting his head down. Not saying he was terrible, just not consistent.

Off-season focus should be getting the three most physical G-C-G combination on the o-line possible, getting Baxter healthy and Gibson working on ball security. We need to be an inside zone, downhill running team that can take shots downfield on play action.

It passed irrational a long, long time ago.  Huck nailed it early in the game thread.  25+ years of hornfans, shaggy, and surly and a huge portion of the fan base can't get past hurr, no touchdown play, qb sucks.

Convenient you left out first and goal from the one. That adds a lot of context.

I am hoping Arch can run more. A mobile QB could really open this offense up. It was a key missing ingredient this year.

I’d be shocked if sark installs a lot of designed QB runs. Manning’s athleticism and pocket presence as he matures will help but yeah we are still going to have to deal with sark’s frilly play calling while he’s the play caller

This. Why is Arch no longer given a pass play. Kind of renders his talent useless when they know he’s coming in to run.

Well, hold on there Skippy. I don't disagree with your take, but Arch still had one of the longest rushes of the game.

That said our head coach not giving more meaningful snaps to the back up QB who we ALL know is the starter next year is very much a FUPM dumass move. I think there are other factors at play here best left to the Sark thread, but it's absolutely poor head coaching for Arch not to get more snaps this year.

For the first year he's going to turn it over more than Quinn.  Gonna be some growing pains

Yeah. No shit.

I will take this any time.

Even though the heartbreak is tough.

I felt worse after the Washington game last year.  I guess going into both games I felt we were better than Washington and Ohio State was probably slightly better than us.

He's going to be the play caller as long as he's the head coach at Texas.

This loss is on Sark. 1st and goal from the one.... this is the time to pull out the play you have been working on, the golden ticket, the trick play etc. For the constant praise Sark claiming he is a offensive guru, where was the misdirection, where was the call when it was needed?

The fact that many seem to have accepted that Arch coming in is the Arch package aka a known run, is also part of the problem with Sark's supposed creative genius. The guy wasn't a 5-star because of his legs. In fact, it only became a thing after he broke that long run, like it just dawned on Sark, and he decided to pigeon-hole him as that. And then didn't even use it appropriately. Nothing creative in the passing game with the threat of him running. Just Arch in, Arch runs.

No one wants to admit the truth. I've been saying this shit for weeks but everyone else hates the QB.

There’s about 20 of us that get it. Arch will be great but the problems with this offense lie at the feet of sark.

Our defense was not championship caliber last year.  This year it was.  Losing Baxter and having Bond disintegrate was a killer to the offense

That fucking unsportsmanlike against Helm for pointing at a player is fucking bullshit. I will think about that until dementia hits me.

Also, yet another fucking game Wingo get 3 balls thrown his way. For such a "specimen" and a Roy Williams clone, Sark/Ewers don't seem use for anything other than blocking.

That one handed catch  Y Golden was fucking phenomenal.

Oh I know.  He’s on record not wanting a running QB. We aren’t running arch like Sam or Colt ran. Not gonna happen. Scrambles sure, maybe 1-2 designed plays per game but not much more.

Agreed.  Sam certainly left it on the field and wore it on his sleeve.  QE was very flat-line -- which can be a really good thing in a QB -- but I think fans wanted to see the occasional "I bleed burnt orange" emotion that Sam so often displayed.

Exactly. Some toughness, some moxie, some poise. The “hop on my back motherfuckers, we’re going to win.” The blank stares and self sacks were infuriating. Would’ve liked to see more of the 3rd and 10 runs like he made tonight. Showed some toughness.

It really didn’t affect anything at the end

Maybe. I will wait like the rest of us to find out. If so, I see it being offset with the plays we were unable to run with QE’s skill set.

As long as he's a threat, that should be enough.

We're in good shape.

This is incredibly frustrating and this team made so many mistakes at the worst times and it came back to bite us.

That said, the last two years, we have been in the national semifinals and played them even at worst and should have won at best.

Thankful for what Sark and Quinn did the last two years. Time for Quinn to move on and for Sark to figure out how to get over the hump.

I saw him put the tram on his shoulders and lead them to the only TD of the 3rd quarter.

If the defense didn't pass down their leg right before half we would have been driving to win and just kicked a field goal.

We might have missed the FG though

Yeah, having a new starting QB almost always entails some bumps in the road.  I think it's a good thing that Arch got some starting experience early in the season, which may help mitigate some of the growing pains.  I think we'll be fine at QB next season provided Arch remains healthy.  I'm actually more concerned about losing a big chunk of the O-line.  I could see those two things combining to limit the Texas offense in the early part of next season.

We do get Baxter back, though.  And if Golden returns, it will be big.

More than strong qualifies as great?! Geez, low bar homie

What qualifies as great is bringing Texas back. Two semis, all Quinn Ewers. Ten years and shit, then Quinn and we ball.

Quinn deserves our appreciation, gratitude, and respect.

This game was very winnable and the final score does not indicate how close this game really was.  It was a very good season and thankful to have attended the Clemson game with that electric crowd.   I think OSU is the best team remaining and I truly feel we could have beat ND.  I will miss Texas football and at the same time it was a hell of a ride and great to be playing in Jan once again.  Let’s hope next year we can play one more week.  Let’s load up in the portal this spring and fill the holes for another run. Win in Columbus and rewrite the 2005 championship run.  Hook’em.
