As a denizen of Houston, my first thought of travelling here with kids is "why?"

That being said, for kid friendly dining (other than D&B) i'd say D'alba, Mia's Table, Cedar Creek, Stomping Grounds. Nono's is a great pizza place with drinks and some acade games for kids, as is Little Matt's in West U. General other kid friend dining, like Hibachi, there's a few spots around town and of course Bennihanna.

As other's have said, the Chidren's Museum is elite, and you can do that and the zoo is a hop skip and a jump away, as is the new Herman park playground and the Herman Park train and pond/paddleboating. The arboretum has trails if your kids are into exploring nature. Natural History museum is also right around there, and has an IMAX and planetarium, plus the actual museum.

Lots of indoor putt-putt places, like Puttery and whatnot throughout town. Palace Bowling in Bellaire is great. Not sure where you're coming from, but there's Dairy Ashford roller rink, since what is old is once again new.

In additon to Meow Wolf, the Museum of Illusion has opened in the Galleria, which looks decent. I haven't been with my kiddo yet, but it's on the list, and the galleria has other things to do, like a Lego store if you're happy to spend money, and ice skating.

If you want to carts, Speedy’s on Hempstead highway is still kicking and has a great arcade with a bunch of old school games.

I’ll second Mia’s or a place called Little Rey off mid lane. It’s got a huge open space the kids can run around. It’s become the go to after school events.

Depends on where you’re staying though.

It's pretty small compared to Meow Wolf or Color Factory. It's under the escalators next to the Alabama entrance, so kinda hard to find if you don't know where it is.

Would you say it’s an illusion?

I would add Levy park in here for the splash pad and its proximity to Color Factor and Men's Club.

Don’t bother with the aquarium unless you’re just going for the rides. The actual aquarium is weak AF. As already mentioned, lots of activities in museum district/the zoo. Knowing what area of the city you plan to stay in would help as far as dining goes.

I've heard this new park is cool https://www.hermannpark.org/plans-projects/the-commons-at-hermann-park/

From there you could get on the zoo train and ride it to the zoo entrance. The zoo has a new galapagos area that's supposed to be pretty cool. Depending on the time of day you can also feed the Giraffes. Miller outdoor does some night movies in the summer and is also within the zoo train perimeter.

Yeah, the Galapagos exhibit is really nice, and the kids should enjoy it.  The whole Houston zoo is really pretty good now after all of the renovations and new exhibits.  If you're coming when school is out, be sure to reserve your tickets online before you go.
