I'm looking at taking the wife on a trip to Punta Mita, Mexico this year.  Anyone have any tips/input they could share?

The Four Seasons there is bad ass.

We stayed in the Naviva section last year and are going in a couple weeks. It is an amazing place.

Appreciate the insights.  Is it more of go to the beach, relax all day, and stay at the resort kind of place or is it more of an active and get out and about vacation spot?

For us at least much more a stay at the resort spot. You could go into the little town but there is not a ton there, there are some cool beach bars in the area you could check out.

How do you get there?  Fly to Ixtapa then a car/bus to the resort?

I think you fly to Puerto Vallarta and take a car over from there, no?

Yes, that is what we do. It was even better when Austin had direct flights to PVR, it was less then a 2 hour flight, closer then Cancun or Cabo.

No rental car is needed.  A taxi from PVR will cost about $120 and Uber is about half that.  Taxis and Uber are easy to arrange in the area.  Of course, you can take a bus for the real flair of Mejico.

Taco stands such as Norma's, Teresa's and Adelita's are plentiful in the town of Mita.  Higher end restaurants I'd recommend include Mina, La Pescadora, Tora Tora and La Rustica.  Don't miss La Cabana for the sand floor and shrimp quesadilla as well as km5 surf bar.

Airbnbs outside the gates are plentiful on the beach southeast of the marina and Stinky's beach.

Hike Monkey mountain or visit the other side of Banderas Bay to remote beaches of Quimixto, Las Animas and Yelapa via a water taxi or day boat rental... of course fishing, surfing and whales watching tours are plentiful.

La Cruz has a weekly farmers market on Sundays through April, and Tacos on the Street is the best taco joint in Nayarit.

Buenas Suerte!

The Four Seasons there had the best service I have ever enjoyed.

My recommendation is to make someone else pay for it.

St Regis is nice too

We stayed at the St Regis but went over to the Four Seasons for dinner-I think the latter is a little nicer/more updated.  Hector’s was probably the best restaurant we ate at, though we were weren’t normally hungry after pounding ceviche all day on the beach.

Sayulita was a little underwhelming as an outing but there’s lots of Americans there for either surfing or working remotely and probably some cool stuff if you have time to explore.
