Karl Scott would be sick

Absolutely no connection and out of left field would be Al Harris. Tons of NFL experience one year at FAU and has pretty strong Florida connections.

Similar to Baker with no one expecting it

This man definitely understands the youth and is at the forefront of modern DB coaching

Wait a minute. The Gerg is dead? Holy shit how did I miss that. He single handily turned Mack Brown into a man. Mad respect.

How much longer will it be before Duane Fucking Akina is not mentioned every time we have a coaching vacancy?

Saw this candidate in one article...

Torrian Gray, South Carolina defensive backs coach

South Carolina Gamecocks fifth-year defensive backs coach Torrian Gray is a veteran DB coach who has over 20 years of coaching experience in this role between the NFL and college levels. Gray is also the defensive pass game coordinator for the Gamecocks, a promotion and job title upgrade he earned early this offseason for 2025.

Gray has spent much of his 20+ years in college and the NFL as a defensive backs coach on staffs in the SEC. In 2016 and then in 2019 and 2020, he was the defensive backs/corners coach with the Florida Gators. He's also served as South Carolina's defensive backs coach since 2021.

He's coached up multiple NFL defensive backs in the past two decades as a defensive coach, including Kam Chancellor, Kyle Fuller, Terrell Edmunds, Kendall Fuller, and Brandon Flowers, among many others.

PK and Lake don't particularly like each other these days if the rumors are true.

Neither did my ex-girlfriend and I, but the sex was great when we would still bang.

Maybe PK and Lake can come to an agreement over wine at PK's apartment.

Joseph to safeties, then hire Taafe for CB, making him the first actual coach on the field in college football.

Will Harris sounds promising

Most of Sark's hires after the initial cast of characters (Flood, Banks, Milwee, Gideon) have been coaches relatively few people have named.

3/4 of his new hires (Baker, Jackson, Choice, not Nansen) have been guys that he hasn’t worked with previously. He seems to cast a net for recommendations then trust that + the interview.

I like the process, though it does render fan wishcasting moot

Move Joseph to safeties. Hire Jay Valai for cornerbacks.

To replace Blake Gideon I don't think there could be a more apropos replacement than former Texas DB Craig Curry. I'm throwing his name in the hat.

If you want to do like for like, I think Bill Boy Bryant should be in consideration.

Jeff also mentioned Joey Thomas as a wild card. Assistant DB coach who left with Choate to Nevada to take full-time DB coach role.

It'll probably be this dude and we will bitch/moan for the next year or so and per typical Sark hire will end up being a homerun pick.

There was also a terrible linebacker that we had that I think played safety in high school in Tennessee.

We know Will Harris from Florida is in the mix. I just had my original suspicions (or educated guess) confirmed and hear Doug Belk is also in the running. Belk is at USC.

These appear to be the top two but there could be somebody else I’m unaware of.

I did have someone say they heard Jimmy Lake’s name but I just can’t buy that.

Harris and Belk make a lot of sense. Either would be great.

Harris being a SoCal guy is viewed as a positive.

Give me either of these guys, but I have to think Belk being the lead guy in the recruitment (and commitment) for RJ Sermons wouldn't be a bad thing for Texas in this recruiting cycle.

He was my coach in high school for a bit.  He was a bit ahead of his time trying to run the spread offense we see everywhere now in 1995.  Then he had sex with a student and got fired.

His younger brother, who I think also played at Texas, coached me in football and baseball my freshman year. Dude was a true shitbag, old school meathead coach. He told me that I needed to quit baseball and focus on football and then literally benched me for the entire season to make a point. He got hired away to the Midland area after that and I think he became a HC and AD down the line. I’m sure he’s fucked plenty of other people over as he’s advanced. They seem like a great family.

WR 1 in our high powered aerial attack in ‘84.

Air Coryell didn’t have shit on us. Imagine defenses facing the three headed monster of Bill Boy, Brent Duhon and Dodge. We might’ve thrown for 1500 yards as a team that year.

We had multiple people quit football because he was too tough, most of them were also gen Z type soft before that was a thing though.
