Meh, not really seeing anything spectacular in those "highlights" of basic 4 and 5 yard runs.

Can he get one fucking yard on the goal line????

Recapping 2025 Offseason Coaching Additions (Thursday AM)

CJ Vogel

Spoiler

Breakdown of Steve Sarkisian's Offseason Coaching + Analyst Additions

RB Coach Chad Scott
Previous Stop
: West Virginia RB Coach
Recruiting History: Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland

Scott had been at West Virginia since 2019 where he had risen from running backs coach to offensive coordinator and ended up as the interim head coach after Neal Brown was released. Scott's top performers were recruited from Miami, Fla., Maryland and Pennsylvania, though it is his ties to Florida are going to pay dividends for the Longhorns on the road.

OLB Coach LaAllen Clark
Previous Stop
: Ohio State Graduate Assistant
Recruiting History: Louisiana

Clark is originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and coached previously at Southern University and Prairie View A&M. Before going into the college coaching world, he was a personal EDGE trainer for Danielle Hunter, Ed Oliver and Jeffrey Simmons.

CB Coach Mark Orphey
Previous Stop
: Rutgers CB Coach
Recruiting History: Florida, Northeast, Houston, TX

Steve Sarkisian added Mark Orphey to his staff earlier in the month of February. Prior to the hire, Orphey was on the road in Florida for the month of January where he had plenty of recruiting success in previous recruiting class for Greg Schiano at Rutgers. On top of that, being a North Shore alum should go a long way in the Houston area as Texas looks to replace Blake Gideon.

TE Analyst Jason McEndoo
Previous Stop
: Oklahoma State TE Coach
Recruiting History: Oklahoma, TX

At Oklahoma State, McEndoo spent ten years coaching tight ends and fullbacks, where he most notably produced Blake Jarwin and Jelani Woods to NFL rosters. Most of his recruiting comes from the Oklahoma/North DFW area, however, he does have ties to the PNW from his time with Montana State.

WVSportsNow may not have the best writers.

Under the "sad, but true" chapter, I am relieved that you provided context because I honestly thought this was your inability to math and not a WV hillbilly.

Who are Keynodo Hudson and Mike Bimonte? Co-passing game coordinator seems like a big step up from analyst

We have unlimited coaches allowed now. All the promotions!

A quick look into Hudson's background shows he was the CB coach at Ole Miss in 2023 but got fired. In 21-22 he was at Western Kentucky

Quote

The Tampa native mentored a defensive backfield that helped WKU rank No. 3 in FBS in 2022 with 19 total interceptions. The Hilltoppers’ ball-hawking defense led the entire country with 32 total takeaways last year.

In his first season at WKU, Hudson helped lead a defensive back unit that led Conference USA in interceptions with 23 for the season

Both of those guys were analysts last year who are now in on the field roles. I'm not sure co-passing game coordinator is that big of a promotion since he is still assistant qb coach and in a system where everyone knows its just implementing Sark's offense. More like just a title to justify the bump to on field.

Considering his previous title was pass game coordinator/secondary coach, I guess the promotion is he now gets to coach safeties? lol

Not only did they hire a new corners coach, but they also hired a nickel coach, so it definitely does not seem like a promotion.

He seems to be overseeing more people now

I think we can all agree that if there was one guy on staff who deserved a promotion, it was Terry Joseph.

Scottie Hazleton was coaching Nickels last year and is now the WF DC.

Welcome, likely new coach and fam.

"Scott spent time in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers before returning to his alma mater in 2006 as a graduate assistant video analyst. He graduated from UNC in 2004 with a degree in sociology. He is married to the former Shambrica Jones, who played basketball at Kentucky."

I don't think he's crying;  I think his objective was to do the opposite.

To show the improvement from the bottom of D1, to the elite range.

Also, I'm sure he made this edited version specifically for Surly:

He sees like an innumerate asshole

Run game has held Sark back from two consecutive national title births. Quinn wasn’t great, but he was good enough to capture one. Better then that KSU transplant at Ohio State. Makes sense he’d want to bring someone in coming from a prolific ground game.

Howard was substantially better than Ewers in 2024.

Interesting PK does not officially have a position anymore. I wonder if he will stick with the Edges or float between position groups.

Very debatable. Not the thread for it though.

Before the playoffs it was Ewers.  Howard was on fire in the playoffs though.

anwar just said that Baxter target to return is more like at the midpoint area of the season... not for tosu.  The new hire probably will be in his RBs ear at WVU.

Will Howard threw for 500+ more yards, had more passing TDs, more running TDs, fewer picks, was sacked 17 fewer times and won a national championship. It's not debatable at all.

I don't like that at all.

There are already too many threads discussing the same shit that’s been hashed over and over, please leave this one for… what is it?  Coaching-/support staff matters. Some of us like to use the $9.95 board as a refuge.

(Chainsaw’s comment slipped in above mine… I’m referencing the never ending QB conversation.)

Did you expect a guy who tore ACL, LCL, and damaged his PCL(not enough to require surgery on that specific ligament) to return by beginning of season?

Well, the injury and surgery were both before the 2024-2025 season, so yes.

Unrealistic expectation considering how significant the injury was.

I'd guess focus on entire defense on a macro level.

Have you looked at the MRI? I haven't. I want him to make a full recovery, too. That said I've never heard of a torn ligament taking more than a year to heal.

It was 2 of the 3 main ligaments needing to be surgically repaired, the 3rd ligament was damage but not enough to need surgery. Expecting him to be fully ready to go by fall camp/first game was always a pipe dream. It's why Choice decision not go portal was crazy.
