Mizzou went 0-18 in conference last year.

And they've beaten Kansas and Florida (on the road) this season and were 4-1 in the SEC coming in. As well as being #22 in the AP and top 30 in Kenpom.

This is all readily available information any of you can look up.

Thanks, Dad.  I'm very familiar with Mizzou basketball, I did my undergrad there.  They suck ass and will retreat to the bottom half of the conference in short order.

I don't think so.

They'll finish around .500 which is easily a tournament team in the SEC.

This was a good win. Overall much better defense. I thought Terry did a good job with the rotation.

Liked the minutes with Pope and Larry on the floor. Larry seems to be our best point guard and doesn’t need to score. And he was great in defense. I like him getting the extra minutes at the expense of Mark. Mark is a better player, but the team seems to play better with Larry out there. And Pope is probably our best shooter and plays better off the ball.

I liked bringing in Pryor for a few minutes. He brought some energy. Same with Onyema.

Larry is really bad.

Seems all are bad for you.  You just said Marks was a disappointment but he's a good player. Why get here and look different like some of the other guys? You have your opinion. We all know where the problem lies.

I don't know what it is I just fucking like RT. Sue me. I tried to write his obituary after that last game but I'm not sure these guys can't put a decent season together.

It isn't always pretty (well, this season, it's rarely been pretty) but his guys play hard and play with each other and that's easier said than done.

Huge stretch coming up. 3-2 probably a must - 4-1 would be optimal.

Also - if we can just GET there - Tre is the type of guy that has nights like tonight (although he still had the dagger on them) but will also have nights where he barrages teams for 10-12 points in 3 minutes. Shit like that can upset teams in the tourney.

Yep, tournament time is almost always all about guard play.

whatever.  I can see you watch a lot of games.   Marks might be a good player but MARK is a disappointment so far.  Larry played decent D.

I don’t think anyone here hates RT. He’s kind like Charlie - good human, bad coach. We want so badly for him to succeed, but he’s not an elite coach

This. And same with Shaka. Sometimes the coaches dont have "it" though. And that is what makes it all the more painful to watch the slow, tragic demise.

Holding home court is the key.

We play some good teams the rest of the way but probably nobody of the caliber of Auburn and Tennessee. Maybe Alabama.

Well Alabama was a final four team last year. They may have the best coach in the SEC, which we covet, and they are the #4 ranked team in the country.

It is very obvious who the best player on this team is and it is not Tre Johnson.

I know Tre isn't the best player on the team - but game-by-game he has the chance to be the most impactful. Also he doesn't play guard for Texas - he is firmly a 3 on this team. Although I think Pope,  Larry and Mark could conceivably be good enough to make a run.

Well my mom went to college with Norm Stewart, and my dad was there before that.

They don't quit and they play hard.  aggy bludgeoned our guards and we had no answer.

Terry isn't a  bad coach, he's your average standard run of the mill NCAA coach, above avg recruiter.  He's not gonna put your team in the top 15 or so to get that 1-4 seed you need to win it all.  Everyone seems to love the guy, which is why he got a shot.

I think Weaver's status will determine how this season plays out. That kid regularly makes momentum-shifting plays out of nothing. With the scoring difficulties we often face, it's going to take a fair bit of his magic to get us safely into March.

Shaka seemed extremely fake to me but man he was good at it.  Terry doesn't seem like that at all.

Heh.  I met Norm when he spoke at Missouri Boys State.  My "town" counselor was a KU grad and he taught us Rock Chalk.  When Norm came out to speak we all stood up and sang it.  He turned white as a sheet.  (Well, he was pretty white to start with.)

In retrospect, not my finest moment.

Please don't twist what I said into lumping Terry in with Shaka and Strong. Both of those dudes can go fuck themselves. I'm sure Strong is a decent dude but he was horrendous here, and Shaka on top of being horrendous isn't particularly likeable. This isn't a black head coach thing - I want to make that crystal clear and I want to quickly jump in and stop it from becoming that.

I genuinely LIKE Terry in a way that I rarely like head coaches and he has also already achieved more here than both of those clowns. By a lot, frankly. He has a vibe about him that I really dig and I think he forever needs to get credit for dragging Texas out of the desert after Beard tried to fuck up maybe the best roster in program history (that, to be fair, he had assembled and developed).

I am also NOT convinced that he's a bad coach. I actually think he's a pretty damn good coach. I think he is not a great xs and os guy and I think his talent evaluation and roster-building leaves a lot to be desired - but as far as gameday coaches go you could do much worse in D1 college ball.

Gun to my head he is not the future for Texas basketball - but after tonight I'm willing to play the tape a little bit longer and excited to see if these dudes can put something together.

Hot take here, but Larry is a better player than Weaver. Much better point guard and a better defender. When Weaver comes back, he will eat into Pope and Larry’s minutes and I don’t think that is a good thing. Also Pope and Larry are great FT shooters. Weaver… isn’t.

I do love Weaver’s hustle and energy, and the way he hits the boards. But I don’t think we are going to win that much if he is getting 25 mpg. Hate to say it because he is probably my favorite player on the team.

Which is NOT the same as…

”I’m willing to give him a little more rope for him to hang himself with.”

No he doesn’t…he looks like a basketball coach giving an interview after a game

Did you watch the interview?
He clearly looked more tired than usual after a game.

Not that I typically analyze his face or anything.

Those two sentences are in opposition to each other.
