Yes - helmets and T-shirts isn’t very physical. It’s like throwing against air or zero coverage.

When the pads are on and full speed, we can then talk/celebrate. I am excited about the amount of true Freshman that were EEs, which some even participated in Bowl game practice prep.

To have that many EEs participate in pre-Spring conditioning and the weights/meal plan is priceless. All before Spring Ball, then Summer conditioning!

Hell, these 20+ Freshmen will seem like veterans in the locker room prior to Fall camp. I guess the days of checking into campus in August are over for us, which is nice!

You think Bond was better than Worthy, Mitchell, and Golden?

Before he got hurt he was better than all of them. He was fast, fluid, tracked balls downfield, caught balls, good after catch. He lacked targets which I thought was just Sark and Ewers sharing the wealth. Maybe theres more to it. He wasnt especially productive at Bama either

I saw Golden and Mitchell as possession receivers. I never noticed their speed or separation but Golden shined down the stretch. Its largely academic. Not sure Bond will ever ready his potential.

there was a game early in the season where bond caught a swing pass or a screen and ran around the corner at about 100 mph and it was awesome.  after that I didn’t see him do much.

No, it's because his family wanted him at LSU.

Then Brian Kelly imploded in a post game, they looked like shit, and the family reconsidered after a less than stellar visit.

Texas was telling him safety or CB the whole way. This staff isn't stupid enough to take a hard like stance on a kid this physically gifted and athletic. Safety isn't a position you want to force a guy who doesn't want to play it. It has a much more cerebral aspect to it than outside corner.

While Satya will always be Satya, it is interesting how these days it seems like it’s more difficult to get a handle on whether your team will have good talent or not on the field in the fall.

Between the portal and players playing earlier in their college careers, there’s more uncertainty about the quality of players coming in or sitting on the bench. I looked at the offensive and defensive depth charts and there are quite a few question marks that should be very good, or great, but need to see it on the field to be sure.

Per 247:

2024: Transferred from Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Kennedy to Loganville (Ga.) Grayson ahead of his senior season.
2023: Moved back to Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Kennedy for junior season.
2022: Played snaps at both offensive tackle spots as a sophomore at Alpharetta (Ga.) St. Francis.
2021: Gained varsity experience as a freshman at Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Kennedy.

Pretty sure Kade grew up liking LSU. His parents, dad especially, are UT fans.

LSU was also corner all the way. Texas was more safety, but you'll get a chance at corner if you want to try. They softened it until he flipped, then basically went hard corner and other things to get him to flip back.

Last years offense was limited by Quinn we all knew that. Once you got past the script. It was Russian roulette with what we were gonna get.  Deep balls were 10% shots even with basically the 4 fastest nfl WRs the last 2 years   Quinn excelled at one read mid field passes to golden and helm.  Also self sacking and climbed the pocket a few times against Michigan.

arch will take more risks. Throw it deep on 3rd and 2.  Make more mistakes. But the risk reward deep ball and running gives defenses some honestly vs everyone crowding the 10 yards from the line because they didn’t have to worry about shit.

offense will prob be the same. Limited by experience where as last year it was limited by the talent under center.  Having the first game against Ohio state sucks. Would like a tune up vs aggy or some d3 school but it is what it is. Boys gonna grow up real fast.

BLUF.  The offense will be the same feast or famine still predicated on a qb. One couldn’t hit deep.or run. The other can go deep and run but will be young and risky

I view a young, mobile QB with a excellent long ball a decided advantage vs an experienced, immobile, very limited long ball QB, specifically given Texas head coach is Sark.

I think the first option truly does more to alter defensive game planning than the second, if the OC/HC can come up with a game plan to offset the inexperience. For me, this is a put up or shut up year for Sark. For reasons we will probably never fully know (but can and will speculate about), he opted to keep an injured (both physically and mentally imo) veteran QB in when I felt putting in Arch in Georgia 1 would have been better for the long term health of Texas Football. That's his choice and no point debating it now, he made a calculated decision, which was his to make and it is his bed to lay in. That bed, and his own words plus broadly speaking most expectations of fans and media means he better fucking figure it out. If he's truly a offensive genius like we've been consistently told, we SHOULD be in better shape this year.

Let’s be honest we truly didn’t see any of the speed by receivers this year or last year due to the offense we were forced to run. Yeah we saw spurts and burst but I think we will actually be able to take advantage of it more.

we saw some burst, but in the short game. Bond turning the corner on a screen was a crazy moment. You saw his speed. Not to mention you could see on the breaks. It wasnt the typical deep ball, but even in this limited version of Sark's offense his game plan was to get them in space and let them work

Neto looks huge in practice videos. He makes DJ Campbell look like a left tackle. If Christian Clark is really full-go, you got to think inside zone is going to be our bread & butter this season. That interior offensive line is massive.

Sure, it was all because of the QB who turned it over 17 times.

Had nothing to do with the defense that was ranked 3rd overall in total defense, 4th in passing defense with the fewest passing TDs allowed of any defense in the top 10, 3rd in scoring defense, and 3rd in red zone defense.

I took major issues with Bobby Burton when he said the same dumb thing. The main reason for the big jump on 23 and 24 was the major infusion of overall talent and especially on defense. Sark's recruiting, coaching, and culture is what turned the program around. Not just Ewers. Ewers was a serviceable QB that was good enough for 2 semi finals appearances with one of the deepest and most talented teams around him. That's nice, but we need a big jump in production at the QB position if we want a title.

With Majors and Connor gone I think we see less zone overall and a lot more power scheme. Especially inside.

I don't know. I do think Golden and Worthy will be the best NFL receivers of the 4, but Bond's immaturity concerns me. He let the injury against OU derail his season, and didn't show much else besides deep speed.

I think Golden got a big boost in scout's eyes for having the production he had even with his QB's limitations. Once he ran that fast time at the combine he moved right into the first round. He's very well rounded.

Its not really close.

FEI rankings

2024: 3rd DFEI, 18th OFEI

2023: 6th DFEI, 19th OFEI

2022: 8th DFEI, 17th OFEI

2021: 27th DFEI, 35th OFEI

The defensive improvement has been consistent. The offense has under-performed the last few years and been stagnant. Defense is what is driving the improvement. Like to see Sark get his 1st top 10 offense at Texas. Hard to ask the defense to do much more.

To be fair, he got hurt because of a terrible throw made by a QB that probably should have sat the game out. He also got setup multiple times on late throws to the post where he was predictably decapitated. He probably had other ideas for how he’d be utilized in the offense.

Yeah, that's true. So far all the talk the last few days is he's been a baller with 2 INT's thus far. He may not be Sringley, but he can be a beast. I would not be surprised in the least if he also won a Thorpe. Akina has that magic.

You can choose to put on your best sunshine pumper smack, but the fact remains that our HC opted to stick with an injured player who was unable to get us past the next hurdle rather than look to the longer term future. We can speculate all we want on how last season would have gone had Arch been given the nod at Georgia 1, but its just speculation. What is NOT speculation is that choice lead to questionable QB play and no progress in the national championship hunt beyond the year prior. Further, it is not up for debate that it put Texas behind the curve this year regarding QB development.

Sark is an offensive genius supposedly. You can applaud the good things, no issue, but to not hold him accountable for a choice to go with an injured QB over the future of the program and no offensive progress over his tenure at Texas is simply sunshine pumping at its best.

I see what we have this year at QB as an advantage to what we had last year. I was only pointing out that at some point our offensive genius head coach need to deliver on the offensive genius aspect of that title. Further, that I think given the current talent at QB he has few excuses not to do so. I am not alone in this expectation.

What a horrible, unreasonable demand.
