Texas is back on the practice field this morning.

There is no viewing window for media today.

So we will be passing along what we hear from behind the scenes as we get news.

**

I will be interested in particular with the tight end position. With Jordan Washington sidelined, this is an opportunity for Emaree Winston to make a move before the portal opens. Obviously Spencer Shannon will be the no. 1 but that’s not enough, not with how much Sark likes using 12 personnel.

**

The situation at wide receiver also continues to develop. Can Parker Livingstone, Jamie Ffrench and Daylon McCutcheon hold off Michael Terry and Kaliq Lockett? Or will the group rotate more interchangeably?

In one of their other reports or a live stream they mentioned that McCutheon has really taken to the offense and is picking the playbook up with ease.

I’ve been buying Parker all along.

Same. He’s got above average hands, long arms, runs decent routes, and has breakaway speed once he gets going. He’s very tall as well.
He’s gonna have all the attention now, so whatever breakthrough he was having is gonna get extra fuel.

He’s not old.  I had a Rifleman lunchbox in the early 60’s.  THAT’s old.

Lol I had a Bonanza lunchbox with a leaking thermos. All metal.

Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Lawman, Lone Ranger, Maverick.  Almost every TV western at that time featured a metal lunchbox and, as you recall, there was no shortage of westerns on the tube.

No shortage at all. Back then, when the TV repairman in our little town (yes, you fixed TVs back then) took off the back panel of a TV to access the tubes, he was fond of saying, "Oh, here's your problem: it's full of dead Indians."

Ok.  In my defense, it wasn't mine.  It was left behind by my uncle when he was a kid.  I honestly have no idea what the show was about.  I just remember the action figure was kind of cool.

The TV Batman lunchbox was how I rolled up to Calk Elementary.  Like a boss!

Wait, weren't we talking about football practice?  How's that going?

No one knows, and/or no one's telling.

For $9.95, some one will tell you some thing.

If you didn't have an NFL lunchbox with all of the team helmets, you are likely a communist.

Can you imagine how good he is going to be now that he can see the ball?

I got LASIK in both eyes back in 2020.  Best money I ever spent.  My eyes actually settled at 20/10.

The only part that sucked was the habit of trying to push my non-existent glasses back up the bridge of my nose.  It took me almost a year to stop doing that.  Strange how the brain works.

...how often is IT going to dance around Washington's current situation before they just come out and say it?

Have they not been called out for just straight up lying about what they wrote about the guy?

I had a generic "18 wheeler/truckin'" lunchbox.  Pretty sure it was this...

Kind of like the 18 Wheeler Arch will need to transport his sack when he runs roughshod over the SEC.

Texas switched up the practice schedule a little bit for practice No. 6. Instead of getting out on the field Friday morning, the staff changed things up for a rare evening practice Thursday night to wrap up week two of the spring.

With rain in the forecast for Friday morning, the move makes plenty of sense.

But a few nuggets from the first two weeks of the spring.

***

Let's Talk DBs

– Finding the cornerback opposite of Malik Muhammad has been a priority and will remain one until the answer is clear as day. Right now, there are four names that have been mentioned as candidates for the position – Kobe Black, Warren Roberson, Santana Wilson and Kade Phillips. Heavily contested as you would expect.

Kobe Black is in pole position at the moment. There have been positive changes to his body and endurance in the spring thus far. Though close on his heels is Santana Wilson who went through a rare true redshirt a year ago, not seeing the field at all. I have heard Wilson's name on the receiving end of a number of interceptions thus far.

Warren Roberson and Kade Phillips have each had moments this spring as well.

– At the nickel spot, there are a trio of guys getting run in Keynodo Hudson's room. Wardell Mack was the first guy we saw last week at nickel spot with Jelani McDonald back at safety, though the two have each been getting plenty of looks with the first defense at the position.

Mack was listed at 212 on the updated roster, but I don't believe that to be entirely accurate.

An interesting name here is Jordon Johnson-Rubell. Texas is getting the young safety some looks near the LOS as well.

***

Injury Report

Not much has changed and week two was significanty healthier than week one.

– TE Jordan Washington remains in a sling after getting dinged last Thursday in practice, he is out for the spring as OTF has reported this week.

– EDGE Colton Vasek is out of a sling, but remains a little bit away from seeing the field for spring ball.

– DL Justus Terry who was seen in the tent during the media availability of practice one has been good to go.

– RB CJ Baxter is getting closer and closer, but is not expected back in the spring.

***

Battles on Offense

– Really, the battle that I have been keeping my on the closest has been at right tackle with Andre Cojoe and Brandon Baker. Again, the job belongs to Baker currently, but Cojoe isn't going down quietly. Both tackles have seen looks with the first team during best on best periods with the defense so far.

The tight end pecking order is razor thin at the moment. Spencer Shannon, walk-on Ridger Barker and early enrollee Emaree Winston is the rotation. I have been told Michael Terry III has exclusively worked at WR since the spring began. Again, Terry is only 215 pounds at the moment.

***

Special Teams

– I know there are plenty of questions regarding the kicking spot at Texas. There has been little return so far. Bert Auburn and Will Stone remain the options and there has been an ongoing competition between the two in the spring. We will see how this plays out towards the back end of spring, but that's where things sit now.

– It was perhaps a bit of a rocky start for new P Jack Bouwmeester as he worked to get acclimated to his new surroundings. But I have learned week two has been much more steady for the 2x All-Conference punter from Utah. The key moving forward will be to find that consistency on a practice to practice basis.

****

The next practice for the Longhorns is expected to be Tuesday, April 8th. As a result of practice moving from this morning to Thursday evening, the team will get Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. (There will still be film and treatment).

Did you get hacked looking at some weird porn?

Why would you write that? That's totally NOT TRUE. I don't do that — ever! So can you take your comment down? Like, ASAP?

I think some other people had access to my computer, and they may looked at some weird stuff, and now I have a problem, but it's no big deal.

Did you talk to my wife?

I actually did apply for a press pass to FyreFest 2, haha. I would love to go, especially if it all goes crazy.

UPDATE on Fyrefest 2: organizers are now claiming it has been moved from Isla de Mujeres to Playa Del Carmen. Playa officials claim no one has contacted them. What could go wrong?

Considering you are a surly poster, maybe I should have said looking at normal porn.
