Here we go. Fuck tempering expectations! Let’s name more of the best white WRs to have played college ball in the last two decades!

Wes Welker 2.0!?!

Eric Decker starter kit, motherfuckers!

1) I don’t wear jerseys. I’m a grown man and I am not hispanic.

2) 500 yards is dogshit.

3) I’m happy to place a bet with anyone on this board that this dude will catch for 1,000 in a season, ever, while at Texas. Willing to consider any amount of money or other terms for the wager.

I can haz GHunter Renfro?

Safety isn't a position you want to force a guy who doesn't want to play it. It has a much more cerebral aspect to it than outside corner.

Agreed. There is something innate about playing the position that you're either born with or you aren't.

The spring practice notes are the same every year. Someone should make a bingo card. The defense wins every time, and then suddenly the offense pulls even. Some JAG that only the 9.95ers like has a breakout spring where he’s playing like an all-American, but then either never plays snaps because he’s buried in the depth chart or drops three balls against U La La and never plays again.

Jaggy Jaggerson opening the season as a starter or even being featured in the offense and contending for all conference honors would be one of the more entertaining things to happen to this board in some time. Some people never learned from the Michael Taaffe Experience.

Livingstone will win the Biletnikoff award this year.

It wouldn’t be anything like Taaffee…stupid racist comparison.

You misspelled Heisman.

It's his first year as a a starter. He'll win the Heisman next year.  They won't want to give it to Arch two years in a row.

But, seriously, Livingstone will be WR1 this year.

How would it not be like Taaffe, who most of this board assumed would never amount to anything and then became an All American, you mouth-breathing dimwit? Just because you don't understand a simple point of comparison doesn't mean that anyone here wants to listen to more of your inane and imbecilic drivel than we've already had the misfortune of being exposed to.

Edit: If you're going to insult someone and call them stupid, at least spell and punctuate correctly. Taaffe was spelled correctly in the very post you quoted.

It’s really weird that both OTF and IT are planting their flag on Livingstone. The last few years when they both are pumping a player in the offseason it has usually been correct. I want to be completely skeptical but all of the sites seem adamant about it.

We always talk about embracing the hate and going ahead and being the evil Texas empire, well, might as well do it now. The country will be rooting against Texas every game because of the Archmania.

Livingstone, I presume. I'll bet that he'll get 750yds. $100 if I lose. A Parker Livingstone signed guitar if I win.

at least one of those notes is pretty funny.  I'll circle back when appropriate, but it underscores how much the sites are either passing off their own thoughts as notes or are being used to advance program determined talking points.

Just to play along.

Walkon versus scholarship.

Offense versus defense.

Tall versus short.

Fast versus slow.

The first two play a large part of factoring in Taaffe’s play.  But defensively it is too easy to blame the nearest man on a defensive failure rather than one who is likely to be at fault which then evolves into he should never play, he’s too slow, too physically limited.

My all-time favorite was when Ketchum gave a detailed report on a dude who had transferred out the year before.

"Looking really good, clearly has lost weight, may challenge for a starting job..." etc. "Um hey Ketch? He's playing at SMU now."

That's up there with Cowherd saying that the QB who was killed in that highway accident will never win a super bowl or whatever it was.

Taaffe played and sucked. He was criticized for it. When he got better, most people acknowledged that. When revisionists come back on here and act like Taaffe was great from the jump and we were all fools to lament when he’d get snaps in 2022, they just reveal how lazy they are logically and in terms of actually watching football and understanding what they’re seeing. You did that here, and it has nothing to do with Jaggy McJaggerston.

Watching Taaffe know where to go and still be seconds late and not make the play didn’t make me think he was an AA. It made me think he shouldn’t have been on the field. But we lacked depth, and he got to play.  Then he was better in 2023 and the criticisms started to fade. Then last year happened. No one was wrong about his play in prior periods.

As to McJaggerston, most of my posts about him have been in jest. He’s like a great white hope to some dipshit element of our fanbase who want to see a whitey kickass at WR, mostly just because the guy is white. It’s fun to pull at that string. When the $9.95ers hype a random in the spring, it adds to the entertainment.

In truth, the guy was a fine back-of-the-class signing and he’s found money if he becomes a star. I hope that is that case, and I hope various goobers attempt to make it a point that I was a meanie and a know-nothing for mocking him as a recruit and then a roster-filling player. I almost need that to happen, really.

Am I the only one who doesnt like hearing shit about more reverses and special packages for Wingo?

Im all for getting him the ball as much as possible, but the dude should be our clearcut #1 target in the passing game at this point. Chatter like this makes it sound like he isn't yet and they're having to brainstorm off schedule ways to keep him involved

Yeah, I think you’re the only one. We’ve had some bad asses put up some great highlights on those plays the last couple years.

I don't think these revisionists exist, certainly not I. It's just heightened sensitivity to the topic and lack of nuanced reading comprehension. My only intended comparison between Taaffe and a hypothetical Jaggerson breakout season is that most of this board wrote them both off way too early. No other aspect of comparison intended.

I think we all need this to happen. You're not the only one who's here for the entertainment. Your contributions are appreciated, whether they are of the insider info variety or the outlandish, deliberately overstated kind.

Holy shit, CTJ!  It's almost like he got better.  I can go back and find bash after bash of Taaffe from 2-3 years ago saying he outright sucks shit through a straw.  Fuck, you can find similar threads about many first and second year players. But sometimes they have to play and almost inevitably, they suck, but usually they get better as they get older/smarter/stronger etc ...

The only relevant question for coaches is "is he better than anybody else we could put out there in his position?"

It seems like you are agreeing with everything he posted, but yet also mocking him for it. I’m not sure what to make of it.

Bobby Burton

Today is the first day of practice in full pads for the Horns. The team gets going at 9am.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian will meet with the media immediately following practice.

**

After gathering intel from the first three days of practice, it’s clear that Arch Manning is stepping up.

The redshirt sophomore from New Orleans has been described as accurate, with the ball coming out quickly.

But perhaps the bigger piece overall is what one source told me more succinctly.

”He’s got a command of the offense, of how it’s supposed to run, the timing of it. He’s just impressive,” the source said.

**

Saturday’s practice was marked by the team going at it pretty heavily despite not being in full pads.

The team even worked inside run on Saturday. While some onlookers called out DJ Campbell’s performance and style of play, I’m told Neto Umeozulu has looked the part as a starter thus far into camp.

We’ll see if that continues, but it’s very likely that the guard-center-guard combo could be a different type of interior with a different strength than a year ago (or the past couple of years).

**

On Saturday, during team period, I’m told Parker Livingstone found the end zone a couple of times. He continues to have a breakthrough spring camp.

**

With Trey Moore working exclusively as an off-ball linebacker thus far into camp, it’s given more opportunity for Zina Umeozulu to step forward. Zina, like his brother, is earning positive comments behind the scenes.

**

If you’re looking for a breakout star on defense, Jelani McDonald could be the guy to watch.

McDonald has worked primarily at safety in camp and has looked more like an elder statesman than the relative newcomer he was a year ago.
