"Goal to go"

So when the area for a DB to cover is condensed EVEN MORE than red zone...

Yes, a fade makes no sense when there is likely 20 yards or less of playing space.

Now... Having said that, Sark loves him some back shoulder fade in goal to go situations, so he needs to see the 2025 version of this.... For his team (not for the NFL where the best DBs and least PI calls are).

We’re halfway through spring practice and I think a couple of themes are becoming evident.

First, Texas is clearly a younger team than the last two Steve Sarkisian has put on the field.

Second, this Texas team, while younger, is just as talented overall, if not more so. At every single position on the field, Texas has at least one future NFL player if not more. Texas is extraordinarily talented despite being younger.

Three, there are several team leaders emerging. Anthony Hill, Michael Taaffe, Arch Manning, Tre Wisner, Jelani McDonald, Cole Hutson, CJ Baxter and DJ Campbell.

Each are leading in a little different way.

But it speaks to Sark’s desire when he first arrived that there wouldn’t be just one or two leaders on a team, but a host of them. That is becoming a reality at Texas.

Four, this is Arch Manning’s team on offense. So while I mention leadership above (of which Arch is one), there’s also execution to consider.

From what I am being told, the offense is morphing to fit Manning’s skillset. That means more throws downfield, more deep drops, more seam routes, more back-shoulder tosses, more QB on the move. All of it.

In other words, the offense will still look the same somewhat, especially in the run game, but it is fundamentally morphing in the pass game.

**

When it comes to youth and battling that for 2025 - or at least bridging the gap one year - Texas needs to add some experience through the portal.

Adding a Matthew Golden- or Andrew Mukuba-type in the spring portal would be invaluable and bring the team’s age and experience up another level.

But here’s where it gets a little dicey.

Mukuba and Golden not only brought their high level of skills to Texas, they also brought a highly productive, workman-like attitude to the team.

Texas, in my opinion, needs to add not just that level of production but also the business-like attitude of a couple of older players.

After all, Texas breaks in a new starting QB, a relatively new OL, a new TE, a new DT group and a secondary with a entirely new set of coaches and devoid of a Thorpe winner.

That’s a mouthful of newness. But I like where Texas sits overall.

Be glad you didn’t wake up with Nico Iamealava as your quarterback this morning.

Regarding the bolded part above I think that while last years team was very good to start the season they never made strides and got even better as the season went on. They were what they were all season...with the young team we have this year I feel like it will be one of those teams that could be good early and continue to get better and better as the season goes on. Hopefully peaking about Thanksgiving and after with talent and experience earned.

So 3rd highest percentage, got it!

Fades are pure vanity plays for the OC. They fucking suck as playcalls.

One of the reasons Sarkisian fucking sucks in the red zone is because he loves calling stupid ass fades that rarely do anything unless they’re to Jayden Blue, and he isn’t walking through that door any more.

He also likes to outsmart himself.  Assramming the line 4 plays from the 1 still results in Ohio State buried in their fucking endzone with a chance for us to tie.  I know too soon.  🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

So no fades and no assramming in the red zone. The corps of cadets does not approve of these developments.

GOAL LINE...

Ass-ramming at the goal line = yes

Fade at the goal line = no

It's infuriating. I love Sark, but he's been pure garbage in the RZ as a head coach at 3 different schools. I think he fared better within the 20 at Bama as a playcaller because Bama.

He attacks the most obvious personnel and tactical deficiencies with common sense, instead of being a stubborn, defensive and petty bitch, like Mack Brown's default setting. But the RZ issues either go unaddressed or he just doesn't know how to change his percentages there.

Who makes “orange” a conscious choice when there are so many other options? Is “grape” also a big one for you? Regular Jolly Ranchers only for you, I’m guessing.

Who said anything about choosing orange as a flavor? Likening POG to orange is like referring to migas as "eggs."

Feel free to swing by and try it sometime. Homemade neighborhood shave ice stand. Will give you the Surly discount.

I won’t be disappointed. I do not think they are a terrible play, but they are more dependent on WR skill and require a high level of chemistry. Personally, I would rather see more “pick” plays in the end zone

Good pickup for a FR

Yeah, it looks like it, but the BON article about him was a bit inconsistent (imagine that). They quoted somebody named Hayes Fawcett: "Top Available WR in the Portal & will have 3 years of eligibility left"

Then, the they said, "Mosley official (sic) went into the portal on April 3 and is ranked as the No. 234 player in the transfer portal and the No. 42 wide receiver, according to 247Sports."

I assume one can reconcile the two statements by assuming that the first is referring to Mosley's portal ranking right now, with the second reflecting his standing in the 2024 recruiting period. Still, somebody needs to read the copy before the SEND button is pressed.

It does say top available WR. Guys that have already signed elsewhere aren’t available

Didn't this happen against OU? I was drunk, and it is all a blur, but I am pretty sure I became enraged and started karate kicking people.

Did you happen to be at the fair? Cause if so, you did, and we did some Kung Fu fighting while waiting in line for snacks and drinks.

Listening to ESPN radio and Michelle S suggested that the saints should tank for Arch.  Chris Canty objected saying his Giants should get Arch

Manning is going to make well north of $5M this year and he’s rich already. These folks just assuming that the dude is going pro have their heads planted firmly up their asses.

I’d bet on him starting two years.  He’s the #1 pick regardless if it’s 2026 or 2027.   Barring a catastrophic injury. *knock on wood*

I hope he leaves. One of the few paths that I think could see him in this upcoming draft would be a NC and a Heisman. I could live with 1 year of Arch for that.

The primary big network draft guys are all aware that he'll probably be two years out from the draft. Anyone not aware of that is lazy
