On3 did their preseason early rankings of returning QBs and Arch came in #4 without having ever been a full time starter.  Leavitt, Lagway, Allar (who I'm suspect of) and Sellers make up the rest of the top 5 in that order.  That's 4 of the top 5 who were freshmen last year.  That QB class is probably going to be wild if they're right.

Without ever being a full time starter?

Him and Lagway both started the season as backups and started games.

Donno or care about those other two bums.

You don't know about Leavitt or Allar? Do you watch Texas' bowl games or even just college football as a sport?

Yeah Leavitt the ASU turd that said he was gonna out play Quinn

when he hadn’t faced a legit defense all season

watched one game of his

Allar is pedo state, didn’t really watch them all season either

What I’m saying is they aren’t good enough to pay attention to or remember who they are.

Sometimes I forget that there are people here that aren't college football fans.

Just not a pedo state or ass-U fan

I watch most of the good SEC games, I’ll watch big games of the other blue bloods. But I didn’t actually sit through an entire rig12 game or big10 game that I can think of. Watched OSU/Oregon and Michigan/OSU. Can’t say I gave a fuck about anything that happened in the big 12 at all.

I’d rather watch a fun Navy game against some random than a boring ass big12 scripted game or one sided big10 game.

I watch Florida games and Texas games, because I’m a fan of them, not a fan of college football.

I don’t think I sat through an entire NFL game until the playoffs either, since I’m not really a fan of any specific team in the no fun league.

It’s just interesting that you conflate your willingness and availability to watch a player with how good they are and then share that opinion so confidently

But to get back to the original comment - Sellers is the 4th freshman. The upperclassman in that group is the least exciting of them. Looks like we’re finally past all the 24 year olds in CFB

Allar doesn't look bad, he just doesn't look great at all.

Some things about him I wished we would see in Quinn, but I still wouldn't swap 'em... and compared with Arch? Not a bit.

Allar is just really up and down. In almost every game he will have a couple throws/plays that are 1st round worthy and he generally follows them up with a WTF was that throw.

Which is why he's not great

Of course, we might need to consider his head coach is a guy who has gone up against top 5 (I think top 5 - maybe it's just really BIG games. CCG and whatnot?) teams twenty times and lost nineteen, so there's that.

He already made more money than the Cowboys were willing to play.  He'll probably get another raise out of the deal.  I think it was just a courtesy to the Cowboys since he played there.  I don't think he ever really considered it.

Except for the CFP semifinal game Allar played, of course.

I was watching Love and Leonord. I didn't even notice pedo states QB because he didn't do shit all game. They ran a boring big10 offense, 3 yards and a cloud of dust...

Lets go back and look at his stat line

C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT   QBR
12/23 135 5.9 0 1

69.2

Wow what a performance, he should defiantly be ranked higher than "untested" Manning lol.

He's basically just going to stack stats blowing out shitty big10 teams again next year then not do shit once he faces any competition again.

Then he's gonna get drafted in the 4th round and be a backup for a couple of years and be out of the league...

Name not worth remembering.

Edit - he also had a fumble on his stat line

Why are you idiots debating Allar vs Manning? They're different draft classes.

It was related to an article about who the best returning QBs were. NFL wasn't part of it.

This is to keep Trey Owens. It no loner makes sense to have a spring game.

Schools are going to try to poach QBs coached by Sark. Can someone explain to me why not having a spring game somehow mitigates that? It's not like Owens can't see how he's doing and how many 1s snaps he gets in Spring practice.

But other schools won't see it without current tape, which the Spring Game provides.

Trey is not looking to transfer, they would tamper and come after him.

We've not seen much of Trey since last year's spring game. I thought he was very impressive, at least as far as throwing. Doesn't mean much in terms of reading the D, but to the extent that he threw the ball to the right guy, accurately and on time... yeah. I'm assuming he'll be QB2 for sure, but no ideas about the other QBs in the room. Would enjoy seeing how he looks this year, but it's understandable that Sark would just as soon not let next season's foes get much, if any, info. Play the game, just don't show anything usable.

Yep. It’s not giving other programs free views of the backups to entice them into the spring portal

Wasn't it 2 years ago that Maalik Murphy threw all over a bunch of walk-on DB's and his camp claimed a bunch of schools were trying to get him to leave?

Sark is trying to keep his players healthy after a long season.  They played more games than most teams.  Though the poaching is probably factored in as well.  Sounds like he's in favor of transitioning to a more NFL style offseason.

How Surly Worthy Are You?

Mack Brown's nephew throws for 89 yards and a TD in the fourth quarter of the Spring Game. Choose the correct answer below:

1) "His performance is no measure of how he would perform in a game vs actual players" .................... 0 POINTS

2) "I like his sidearm throw and his lack of height is actually an advantage" ............................................  5 POINTS

3) "He should give Arch a serious run for starter in the fall and is a sleeper Heisman candidate" ............ 10 POINTS

I wouldn't consider the spring game super taxing. It's more a celebration and fan event than anything. It just sounds better to say you are potentially not doing a spring game because of player health than to say what Matt Rhule said.

Incorrect translation, should read "... will probably transfer to UNC to be coached by Bill Belichick"

Trey Owens is not the reason they are looking at cancelling the spring game. They are terrified that the extra exposure for Max Merril will put in jeopardy his 8th year with the program this fall.

Sounds like they want to get him on the field early. I think we're going to have a lot of versatility on the line this season with the athletes and frames we have.

Wow, this news about Gideon just dropped. I hope he keeps his hands on the ball and secures the bag. Let's hope this staff turnover is limited. Good luck to you Blake, and don't let this opportunity slip through your fingers.

It probably is a bummer for the players who bonded with him, but long term I agree we can find someone better. Losing assistants comes with the territory when you're an elite program.
