New Year's Day is college football.  Should either be the semis or the finals.  Klatt thinks NYD should be the finals, at the Rose Bowl, every year.

semi finals makes perfect sense

portal and transfers should not start until the day after the last game

Agreed. Their momentum is lost going into later January. NFL playoffs are well underway by then

Feels like ESPN barely talked about it Tuesday morning - all NFL playoffs and coaching carousel

So that's a week later than this year. Is pushing it back going to mess with transfer players trying to enroll at their new schools?

It’s a week later because Labor Day is as late (the 7th) as it can get. They probably ought to just start kicking the season off the last Saturday in August…

How’s that gonna work with the notion that these guys are still students at their respective schools? Texas for instance went back to class on 1/13 (i think aggy was the week before this year)

I hate so fucking much that the NCG is on a goddamn Monday.  CFB is a Saturday sport.  End it on the appropriate day of the week.

Why was it cool for the CB to be a Friday night? Play the finals on a Friday night!

I'm for compressing the schedule back to the championship game or at least the semis on NYD but with this structure, why not play the championship game today?  Conference championship weekend the nfl plays both games on Sunday and Saturday is wide open.  The downside is you push another week into the spring semester.

I'm sure the main reason they have it on a Monday night is b/c of TV.  HUTS/PUTS are much higher on a Monday  than a Friday or Saturday night.  By having it on Monday they get a premium for their spots.

Then it will continue to get drowned out by the NFL. This year's game got lost in NFL talk.

Why do I care? I'm a fan. I'm going to watch. What do I care who else is watching, what the tv ratings are or what the talking heads are talking about? None of that affects my experience or impacts the games.

Then you shouldn't care if it's over before the NFL playoffs start.

I do, because compressing the schedule in order to avoid the NFL playoffs is letting the NFL dictate the college schedule. No thanks.

I thought this year's schedule was just right with the time between rounds, given that the CCGs had to be done before the Playoffs started.

Ratings would be absolute dog shit going up against nfl. It’s in college footballs best interest to avoid.

Week 0 for Army Navy would suck.

The game is different for the very fact that their entire student bodies attend the game.  Now run your mind through a quarter of those students still trying to figure out what fucking end is up in the world.

It would be a mess.  FUCK the business of college football.  Army-Navy game belongs on the week in which it is currently played.

Who gives a shit. It’s a rivalry game. It’s no different than any other college game. If it being military was so important they might as well put army/Air Force and navy/Air Force on their own separate weeks from college football.

Homigenizing the game for the haves is ABSOLUTELY the answer.  Lol

Army and Navy are not qualifying for the playoffs anyway unless they become some automatic tie-in, so there really is no need to change the game.

They should get rid of CCGs, too.

Ratings would have been far better if it were on a Saturday night and on free television, those things absolutely affected the numbers.

Yes

Reduced it to 8 teams and no byes and the season ends when it usually does plus you can do proper seeding matchups.

Because the same people who complain about money running college football also love to discuss the best way for more money to be made.
