Holyshit. These tariff percentages appear to be calculated entirely off trade deficit and not actually foreign tariffs. These fucking idiots legitimately may have typed in US trade deficit to Chat GPT and then copied and pasted it into an excel document. That would explain why there are random islands and sub national entities getting different tariffs from their national government.

It’s zealot isolationist/racist/xenophobes combining powers with vulture capitalists licking their chops to buy distressed assets.  It’s a perfect storm of idiots and greedy fucking billionaires.

This....is too fucking stupid to be true.

Which means that it is most likely absolutely true.

I'd say "dear God," but if there's a God, he has clearly abandoned us.

I’m curious how some of these countries reciprocate on American tech services like google or Facebook. If you’re France, why wouldn’t you charge Facebook for every French user on Facebook products? Meta makes money from French advertisers so why shouldn’t the govt take their share as a services tariff? Maybe offer a discount based on the number of Meta employees in country.

SaaS software is export controlled.   It’s gonna be interesting.  Every click through to buy a salesforce instance comes with a 25% tax, perhaps?  Don’t know how ads might work.

A lot of EU countries tried levy a digital services tax that does target US tech giants disproportionately.  This has been a multi-admin gripe that could indeed have been part of a targeted tariff policy to prod action.

That’s not what we got and the real issues like DST are all confused with true idiocy like calling a VAT a trade barrier (its not at all).

Why does he think it's not trump?  It fits exactly with the lack of understanding of international trade that trump has shown since 2015.

He's unfathomably stupid.

I think they would be subject to the blanket global 10% tariff, but yeah, nothing even remotely close to what we are doing to the EU, etc.

Rationale given is there is no trade with Russia due to sanctions. Same with Belarus and the NORKS.

This being Donald Trump, I fully expect him to let the market tank, repeal the tariffs, watch the market go up, and claim victory.

And half the country will buy it.

U.S. stock futures cratered as President Donald Trump unveiled sweeping tariffs of at least 10% and even higher for some countries, raising the risks of a global trade war that hits the already sputtering U.S. economy.

Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average

lost 1,069 points, or 2.5%. S&P 500 futures dropped 3.6%. Nasdaq-100 futures

lost 4.5%.

Shares of multinational companies tumbled in extended trading. Nike

and Apple each dropped about 7%. Shares of big sellers of imported goods were among the hardest hit. Five Below lost 14%, Dollar Tree tumbled 11% and Gap plunged 8.5%. Tech shares dropped in an overall risk-off mood, with Nvidia off 5% and Tesla down 7%.

The man left office with the worst economic record in a century, attempted a coup, and led a violent insurrection…. And was elected back to the same office.

He was widely seen as the more trust worth candidate who was better for the economy.

The American people are dumb, distracted, and desperate.

Inflation was the reason Trump was elected again.  Absent re-enacting the massive covid era stimulus started by Trump and escalated by Biden, it's hard to imagine something Trump could do that would be more inflationary that this madness.

This admin does not give a shit about the market. It gives a shit about the people who are so rich they are insulated from what happens, and they give a shit about seducing people who aren’t directly invested in the market and are too ignorant to understand what this does to them.

A “knowledge economy” worker with a 401k doesn’t matter to this GOP.  “Knowledge” is the operative word as that is a profile trending away from the GOP.  Lots of their leaders have remarked that they are the low-info and low-propensity voter now as borne out in the special elections.

That's not true at all.  Trump cares a LOT about the market.  Hell, dipshit took time to mention his market performance in the middle of this bizarre (not for him) rant.

Anyways, I've got my popcorn and am gonna enjoy the fuck watching these leopards feast on douchebag banker face.

Exactly, why the crying?  This is one of the few good things to come out of his election.  This is disproportionately hitting trumptards...why cry?  Celebrate but make sure you take time to rub it in their face.  I can barely text fast enough.  Not getting many replies but I'm still enjoying the fuck out of it.

These are the same mouth breathers telling me it isn’t fair I am having to pay more in taxes and writing a check this month but didn’t take my offer of them giving me their $3,000 refund plus another $1,000 that way we both pay the same. I will go into the office and cackle at my 401k and bring it up loudly.

Noting again that my supermarket currently has a 100 percent trade deficit with my household, I have no choice but to begin paying 50 percent more for all their products as I seek to fully employ all workers (my kids) in the agriculture sector they’ve been excluded from thanks to unfair trade practices.

You stole that line from me! I am announcing a 105% tariff on Publix tomorrow so they are about to pay me for a rack of Miller Lite. Isn’t that how this works ?
