Was at an art/book/whatever show and one vendor there was reselling Japanese snacks with flavors only found in Japan for a crazy markup, like 20 bucks for a bag of chips.

I have no doubt that there is someone who would pay what you ask for a Japanese thingamabob.

Were the snacks used female undergarments or some dried and salted form of former sea life?

This is what happens when you stupid country ass idiots vote for a brilliant businessman who bankrupted a casino where they print money.  I mean, literally all a casino has to do is be open 24 hours a day and be near human beings.  And this fatass chunk of shit couldn't keep that going.  And y'all voted for him.  For the stock market.  For the economy.  You stupid god damned fools.

Stern but fair.

My kid came home from Spain last week with around 200 Euros. I haven't had a chance to get them converted back to USD, but now I'm thinking we should hold onto them and it can be our new retirement plan. Well that and the two dozen eggs we have in the fridge.

How much you want for them eggs?

If you have to ask, you can't afford them.

Well, I think his ultimate goal, which is idiotic, is to replace income tax with tariffs.  That's why he thinks the Gilded Age was so great, no income tax.

So much of this shit boils down to income tax.  It's really what the oligarchs want, it's what his moron voters really want.  All this small government and efficiency shit boils down to "I don't wanna pay taxes."

Further to this point, as you go higher up the social/financial ladder, the concern with taxes is probably replaced by "regulation."

For example, the objection to the "administrative state" is a false flag for objection to regulation.

So, in my mind, I was kind of attaching a broader meaning to "taxes" than my text would indicate.

One country that did not feature on Donald Trump's list of tariffs on US trade partners was Russia.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cdjl3k1we8vo

US outlet Axios quoted White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt as saying this was because existing US sanctions on Russia "preclude any meaningful trade" and noting that Cuba, Belarus and North Korea were also not included.

However, nations with even less trade with the US - such as Syria, which exported $11m of products last year according to UN data quoted by Trading Economics - were on the list.

Lost in a lot of this is that the press conference was named Make America Wealthy Again. The fucking arrogance of the richest nation in the history of the world announcing tariffs against poor third world countries because we want to be wealthy again. As if to say we weren’t rich until now and those evil countries were holding us down, but now we have a plan to break free of their grasp and become prosperous.

The entire world should hate us.

Why?  So they can continue to lose?  I don’t think this is turning around after another 5%.

There’s a bottom but we aren’t 5 percent away from it yet.  The falling knives are sharp.  I think you need some real blood on the streets before jumping in.  Enough cliches for one paragraph.

We have an entire month of layoff announcements incoming. 5% will be today.... easy 10-20% more to go if Trump doesn't flinch.

Earnings calls will be a whole lot of CEOs saying that they’re pausing growth plans while waiting to see how the current situation resolves.

This is just it though. Trump has already shown he'll do a 180 if he can just get some kind of fig leaf "concession" so he can remove the tariff and declare victory. I think there has already been some long lasting damage done by betraying our partners, but that doesn't mean the market won't go right back to being irrational af. I've got pretty much everything in cash or money markets right now, but I might start layering back in if the S&P sheds another 5%.

This is all just so fucking stupid though.
