Netanyahu just laid out the game plan in the joint Q&A session. Promised to eliminate the trade deficit with the US as quickly as possible. We'll see a bunch (all?) other countries pledge to do the same in short order. Trump gets to take a victory lap for standing up to the rest of the world and eliminating the trade deficit, tariffs are quietly dropped, and in the end nothing much changes. I think this is NAFTA -> USMCA all over again. Facts on the ground never matter, just the narrative.

What are the chances the “fake news” of a 90 day suspension of the tariffs came from the Trump’s bunch?

The 90-day suspension idea was originally floated by Bill Ackman, I think.

How does Israel do this without reducing what they import from us until it matches what they export to us?

I didn't go to Wharton so I might be missing something.

Israel will probably get one of their computer wizards to load a bunch of fake info into chat gpt and then send Ron Vara the prompt he needs to search for.

That's the literal definition of how you would go about eliminating a trade deficit. But that's not really the narrative here - it's Bibi doing to Trump what Trump does all the time. Just lie through your teeth, get what you want (acclaim, kudos, and reelection), and wait for someone with appropriate power to call you out on it (they won't or they don't exist so it doesn't matter).

Leonard Leo and Charles Koch are suing on behalf of Simplified. It doesn't mention venue.

A libertarian group backed by Leonard Leo and Charles Koch has mounted a legal challenge against Donald Trump’s tariff regime, in a sign of spreading rightwing opposition to a policy that has sent international markets plummeting.

The New Civil Liberties Alliance filed a suit against Trump’s imposition of import tariffs on exports from China, arguing that doing so under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) – which the president has invoked to justify the duties on nearly all nations – is unlawful.

You fucking assholes created this fucking monster, even though everyone told you what you were doing and what an awful, stupid, terrible idea it was....you did it anyway.  You don't get to bitch now.  Instead, go do the one thing that you owe the planet: go to your study, bring your pistol, put it in your mouth, and pull the fucking trigger.  Do it as many times as it takes to hit actual gray matter.

Naah.  They'll snatch him from his home, hogtie him, and toss him on a flight to El Salvador -- he'll be locked away in a prison there before the day is done.

Which is perfectly legal now, and there are no consequences to The Regime for doing so.  True fact.

Does that apply to John Roberts, or just Charles and Leo?  It would almost be worth it if John became a cautionary tale for ACB and the rest ...

Why would it apply anyone on SCOTUS?  They are doing EXACTLY what they have been told to do: create an air of legitimacy for the Imperial Reign for Life of His Royal Highness Donald Trump, long may he reign, and God save the king.

Listen, if anyone can help stop this asshole, I don't care that they may have supported the dumbfuck in the past.  If you can't help, then get fucked.

I am starting to believe the Trump believes that the USA debt problem/crisis is caused by the trade imbalance. Our budget deficit is caused by decades of spending excess of funds collected (in taxes, fees, etc). Surviving on defense, Medicare& Medicaid, government infrastructure, subsidies, social security, interest on debt, everyone had pet projects and sacred programs that were untouchable. Doge, last week's/months hot topic, was working on fixing small pieces of that - because interest, defend, social security & Medicare/caid  need to stop growing and slowing ... but those are harder than putting in Musk frat boys into misc Fed agencies

The trade imbalance is caused by buying more that we sell. President Huff and Puff doesn't know the difference, I think the people pulling the strings do, but they didn't give a flying fuck.

I was just curious as to whether John Roberts had any question as to who "Daddy" is at this point - i.e., Trump or Koch / Leo?  He obviously owes a lot to the Federalist Society / Heritage Foundation / Kochs.  That said, I think he realizes when the Trump admin tells the USSC to fuck off directly in response to a ruling, the gig is officially up - so if he's ever going to go against Trump on anything of consequence from here on out, he'll need as many allies as possible - and Leo and Charles are about as strong as you're going to get.

I've had multiple bankers, not entry level guys sitting in a Chase...but some dumbasses none the less...'Trump family has a lot of paper coming due this year and needs low rates'.  That is the only thing that makes sense...as usually he does care about the market and what his monied backers think.

Again....these are people who are mentally incapable of grasping "value exchanged for value."

I have an LG dryer in my house.  I exchanged $500 for that.  But tracking the $500 over to Korea is only part of the deal.  In exchange, I got a valuable and useful good that was worth....$500 (remember, the value of any good is what "a willing buyer will pay a willing seller" for that good - that's literally the economic definition of "value").  We haven't "given away" any of that money.  We exchanged it for value.  In a free market, where I have the freedom and liberty to choose what I exchange my money for.  I have all kinds of things in my house that I exchanged money for - a dryer, a TV, a sofa, etc.  Some of those items, I sent the money to someone in the US...and then got something of that exact value in exchange.  For others, I sent the money to someone in Korea, or Japan, etc....and then got something of that exact value in exchange.

God I hate stupid people, and we've made them into kings, answerable to no one.

The debt has always been a tool in the Republican long con, seeking absolute power. So, no.

What you DON'T understand, is that by buying a LG dryer, you are taking wages from an American who can come to your house and hang your laundry on a clothesline, and come back 6 hours later to take it down. Cumulative cost of that labor will be over $500!

Think of the Americans who want to do the menial jobs!
