Fresca for the win!!!  Old school football is always fun. Those guys had to play it for the love of the game because contracts were way low.

The contracts weren't that bad by the 1960s.

Len Dawson, the answer to the trivia question 'what was the name of the other Kansas City Quarterback to win the Super Bowl?'

Mahomes will never be even close to that cool, ever.

His emphatic spike on his 2nd rushing TD will stick in my memory for a long time, something akin to Leon Lett getting caught by Don Beebe.  Mahomes should have given the ball to an OL.

That being said, I loved the hell outta the 2 rushing TDs by the delicate flower, and 11 rushes in the game.

He hears it all, and usually responds in kind.

Mahomes has to be one of the more effective running QBs I have seen. Seemingly every time he takes off, he gains a good chunk of yards. Not to be confused with guys like VY, Vick, etc. I have no idea how he does it as he's not extremely shifty and fast. Some of the biggest plays KC have made in the playoffs when they need it most, a lot of them are with his legs. There was a big 4th down early in the Buffalo game in their own territory. He ran it. Had some huge runs last year in the Super Bowl.

He does it without top-end speed or shiftiness because he is very very good at continuing to keep his eyes upfield and apprising where his potential receivers are located. Even at the last second if there is an option to deliver the ball to somebody in a better position to get more yards than he is he will do it.  He also seems to be able to deliver balls from all sorts of crazy angles.  Defenses are now very well aware of this fact and treat the threat appropriately, opening up the necessary hesitation and space he can take advantage of.

I’m gonna root for the Eagles. I don’t like them but, can’t really stand the Chiefs. I will say that I find myself caring much less, especially with the Super Bowl now in February.

I lose interest, even more so with the extra week in between conference finals and the Super Bowl.

The college playoffs was, to me, way more interesting and enjoyable

I’ll watch but, I’ll be changing channels too.

He has decent speed. He ran a 4.8 at the combine. Allen ran a 4.75.

This will be at least the 10th straight SB I have no interest in watching, wonder if it’s just a function of me getting older and having watched games for 50 years. Once again I really DGAS and will probably watch some stupid shit like the Night Agent and fast forward thru the game after the fact on YoutubeTV

I used to dedicated fall weekends entirely to football. College all day Saturday and NFL all day Sunday and then Monday night.

Since I know there's zero chance the Cowboys are going to win a Superbowl I started watching fewer and fewer games about a decade ago. I started filling those Sundays with other activities from enjoyable ones to just shit that needs doing, like cleaning a lot. Eventually, 3 games dwindled to Cowboy games, then to Cowboy highlights and now.. not watching at all. My interest changed and I found something more enjoyable and interesting. Just that simple for me.

As for the Superbowl, I truly don't recall the last time I watched it. I don't drink alcohol any longer, I eat healthy, hate marketing and commercials, don't have a lot of NFL loving friends, so even if there was a party, it wouldn't offer me anything of interest and neither does next Sunday. So, if I can't find anything on the all channels I want to watch, weather is such that I can't do something outside, don't feel like cleaning or playing any games on my console,  and don't have anywhere to go.. I guess I might turn on the Super Bowl.. maybe. I'm not claiming 100% I won't watch it, but it's literally on the bottom of my interest list mostly because outside of Longhorns doing well, I truly don't give a shit what happens and I'll let Surly filter out the interesting commercials I should see.

On the Mahomes scrambling deal, you’re fucked if you’re in man defense because your back is turned.  Then if you’re in Zone, you get Kelce’ed to death.  They really don’t like hom running a lot, ever since the QB sneak/ gimpy knee years ago.
If he was more mobile like Lamar or bigger like JA, defenses would just be tapping out.

Ron Torbert is the head referee. That's this guy:

Edit: Top link is the ref doing a postgame jersey swap with Pat Mahomes. Bottom link is when KC failed on a 3rd and 9 in the AFCCG vs Bengals, but Torbert stepped in to allow a re-do because the clock supposedly shouldn't have been running (there were 10 minutes left in the game). Next play was defensive holding.

I really don't dislike the Eagles as a team or any of their players.  But I just can't bring myself to root for any sports team supported by people who live in and around the city of Philadelphia.

I like the City of Philadelphia including many of their people. I fucking hate the Eagles, their players, and fans. Bunch of assholes.
