The NFL wants to expand to 18 games. The players are already squawking but it’ll get done with concessions. One of those could 2 bye weeks. Which would put the Super Bowl on President’s Day weekend every year. And that would be outstanding.

I'm sure if they go to 18 games, they'll get rid of another preseason game.

Old enough to remember CBS letting the audience know that the final round of The Phoenix Open will be seen after Super Bowl X.

Old enough to remember the game being broadcast at the same time on CBS and NBC during Super Bowl I because CBS carried the NFL games and NBC carried the AFL games.

Can we get this conversation back to football?

If we don't see Blake Lively in the suite w Taylor Swift this year, you know that means that TayTay is pissed that Blake and Ryan Reynolds tricked her into attending a meeting to intimidate Justin Baldoni.

Fuck.

Manzano might have been a bad apple.

I don't think I've been less interested in a Super Bowl since the Bills made their 4th in a row. Yes, part of that is me hating the Cowboys and being butthurt over the AFC Championship game, but we all knew how it was going to end, anyway.

We didn't need this sequel any more than Iron Eagle did. I mean, I watched the shit outta Iron Eagle as a kid, but even then I knew it didn't need a sequel, much less three. Super Bowl LVII: The Iron Eagle of Super Bowls. This year: Super Bowl LIX, Chappy Had A Really Great Agent.

There was actually a point a couple of days ago where I suddenly remembered, "Oh, yeah, I guess there's a Super Bowl this weekend," and I had to think if I wanted to bother making time to watch it. And then I didn't even make a decision on whether I should try; I shoved it to the back of my mind as just not being worth worrying about.

I am sure you also remember when CBS broadcast NBA finals on tape delay at 10:30pm

Why do games in the Superdome look so ugly? The field looks brownish and the colors in general look all wrong. It looks like they use sodium vapor lamps or something similar that doesn't have full-spectrum white light.

KC is toxic?  Nice narrative for the haters, I guess.  As a Cowboy fan most of my life, I understand what it means to be a fan of a team a lot of folks hate.  Hell, now even some of us hate Dallas, but I don't see it for KC. When Tyreek left, it was over.  Then it was Joe Cool's turn.  Then Lamar.  Then Joshy.  This year Kelce was done. The Offensive Tackles suck, which is true, but they have improved, mostly because of moving Joe Thuney; but also Jawaan Taylor has greatly reduced the stupid mistakes.  WR injuries spelled the end for Patrick.  The starting RB broke his freaking leg. They lost LJarius Sneed.  Defense is doomed.

They've overcome a lot.

The Eagles are a likable team, despite being from Philly and have a complete douchebag as a corch.  O-line grinds it out in the trenches, with one of their better OL being Lane Johnson from small town school in Texas. Starting QB is gutsy and also from Texas. WR corps is reliable.  Saquon Barkley is the throwaway guy from the Giants who busted his ass and had an MVP caliber season.  Hard to believe he doesn't want to run through the tape and get a Lombardi.

Everyone won't be excited for this Super Bowl, but I have a hard time believing it will not be one hell of a game.

Fuck Philly( fans!) and Go Chiefs!!!

it's a joke, dude

anyway, easy choice for me; 2x the Longhorns on the Chiefs, plus it's fun watching Taylor get everyone's panties in a wad so... go Chefs, I guess

We transitioned from the Pats dynasty to the Chiefs with no interruption really. Mahomes is mirroring exactly what Brady did when he got the starting job in NE. Win enough and you will become the villain. Every single talking point about KC was what everyone said about NE, except they literally were caught cheating filming practices and deflating balls.

KC was the feel good story early on. NE was the feel good story when they took down goliath in the Rams in 2001. But each kept winning and America hates winners, they like rooting for the underdogs. Golden State was also the underdog for a few seasons before they broke through and won it all. And people started to hate them.

Chiefs get a ton of obvious refball just like Golden State. Gets old watching Chiefs hold every play just like Golden State setting moving screens constantly.

I was watching a spot about LT and Parcells, and then I started perusing the wikis of former coaches in the game.  Without googletron, Who is the oldest living, current or former,  NFL Coach who has won a SB?

I would not have gotten it.

The players will agree to 18/2 because the networks will pay big $ for the game of which they’ll get half.   I would expect an extra bye, some expansion of rosters, some changes to roster management in cut downs and IR.  I think college NIL $ is putting pressure to increase the pool.

the changes I want to see that won’t happen:  killing international games and improving officiating thru sensors and using the AAFL replay structure.

This will be at least the 10th straight SB I have no interest in watching, wonder if it’s just a function of me getting older and having watched games for 50 years. Once again I really DGAS and will probably watch some stupid shit like the Night Agent and fast forward thru the game after the fact on YoutubeTV

As reported earlier by another poster, we can all celebrate one feel-good story today:

"Britt Reid pleaded guilty in September of 2022 to driving while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury to a six-year old girl who suffered from a traumatic brain injury, and was sentenced to three years in prison.

The charge carried a maximum penalty of seven years in prison, but prosecutors agreed to ask for a maximum sentence of four years in prison. Britt's attorneys sought probation, while the injured girl's family opposed the plea deal entirely.

Last March, however, Missouri Governor Mike Parson commuted the remainder of Britt's sentence to house arrest, which is slated to continue until October 31, 2025, with requirements that include weekly meetings with a parole officer, counseling and community service. Britt had been expecting to be released about eight weeks later."

That's some pretty tough challenges that Britt is facing with courage, and I'm sure we're all glad that his ordeal will end next October.  And maybe that family of the little girl who suffered the life-altering injury can finally end their whining. :(

Maybe they can send the family a whole bunch of Chief's swag or something.
