This is the part that gets me. Maybe he will be the goat but again some were saying he was there BEFORE this game.  Sorry I think this one and the loss to Tampa should count.  Tom lost three I think?  By how many points total?

think all of Brady’s losses were by one score. He pretty much had them in the game with 2 min left. Mahomes’ 2 losses were blowouts, garbage time stats not counting

I'm no Mahomes fan boy, but I'd probably cut him a bit of slack.  He was running for his freaking life all night.  The performance of the Eagles front 4 was as good as any in a Super Bowl ever.  Just complete domination without any blitz/pressure schemes.

Yeah. The amount of pressure they got rushing just 4 was insane.

The KC offense wasn’t very good this year and they still made it. They desperately need WR’s and some RB’s, but unless Mahomes regresses a lot they probably go on a NE type run.  Personally I’m already tired of watching them in every Super Bowl

My God, there are an awful lot of bad takes in here.

I couldn't care less about hip hop, but I know enough about it to appreciate that this was one of the best halftime shows we've had. Part of what made it good was that he put a decidedly non-NFL-approved message into an NFL Super Bowl halftime show; that a lot of y'all don't get it is a feature, not a bug. And the other part is the entire Superdome screaming "A MINORRRRRRR!" 🤣

And Patrick Mahomes is absolutely HoF material. Last night's performance was more about how much Philadelphia's DL dominated KC's OL, and some really shitty gameplanning by an otherwise great coaching staff.

Brady never looked as bad as Mahomes did last night in any of his super bowl losses. In fact in one of them he led his team to a comeback before defense gave up the go ahead.

He looked pretty bad vs the Giants. That is with Randy Moss and Welker at WR. Scoring 14 just isnt great. You cannot just compare games in a vacuum and think that gives you concrete evidence. You have to actually look at the game plan. How did WRs play, OL, did they have a run game, etc. Like I said I would take prime Mahommes over Brady. I take Mahommes over Brady, because physically Mahommes wins every comparison. It is not particularly close. I think both are accurate. Brady has a slight advantage in reading a defense.

It's not even vacuum, watch Mahomes last night and Mahomes vs Bucs(Brady)

Those two performances are worse than Tom's performances vs Giants. Tom was sacked 5 times vs Giants in 08, and still had a better game than Mahomes did last night. Tom's teams were still in both of those games as well.

Mahomes just padded stats in both of those games to make it not look as bad at the end. Tom

Tom Brady in 2014 is a 37 year old with 3 SB wins and 2 SB losses, recovered from a catastrophic knee injury.   Tons of questions about his future.

NO ONE , predicted he would win 4 more over the next 7 years.  Just an unbelievable second act of his career.

It takes so many things to align for Tom Brady to be Tom Brady the odds of anyone catching him for rings are very, very slim.

Exactly. Philly at one point was up 34-0. After they made the score that put the 34th point on the board, KC went for around 200 yards and 22 points. The fucking game was over when all that shit happened. Nothing else needs to be said about how badly they dominated KC, particularly when Philly was on defense.

And yeah, same thing about the loss to Tampa. After the Bucs hit that FG to make it 31-9, KC rips 177 completely meaningless yards in 3 possessions.

Brady did lose 3 times in the SB, but he never got fucking boatraced like that. The only time he ever got boatraced was for 2.5 quarters…and they wound up winning that game.

And 28-3 they weren't really boatraced stats wise. The offense was moving the ball - hell they lead TOP - they just had weird shit happen to prevent scoring. Kinda like a Steve Sarkisian offense ...

I wont argue that. I see 2 QBs that are both the best of their generation. I believe Mahomes is the more talented QB, I dont think many would argue that. Only thing you get it in response is typical group think of Super Bowl wins, which is about a lot more than simple QB play. Its the most brain dead line of thinking by sports fans. It the type of thinking that would leave Dan Marino out of the HOF and add guys like Dilfer and Brad Johnson.

So what is your reason for "taking" Mahomes? It's to lead your hypothetical franchise to and win Super Bowls, is it not?

Unless you're talking about gambling or fantasy football statistics, I don't understand your argument. What are you "taking" him for?

Patrick Mahomes is not getting left out of any Hall of Fames even if he had won zero Super Bowls.

Brady’s losses had incomplete teams.  Chiefs last night were healthy and complete.  They were outcoached and outplayed. Why do championships matter? Because it’s hard to get there in January against the best teams, and take the pressure of doing it on the biggest stage.  Chiefs collapsed this time.  But if you cant run the ball it eventually bites you on the ass.

pressure on stage is mental greatness.  I’ve known great golfers until they’re driving with a gallery or putting for the win.  Great guitarists that simply couldn’t get on a stage.  The greatest QBs who go first round need stats and rings.  Eli has rings but shit stats.  Mahomes is first round if he retires today.  No doubt.  But his losses aren’t meaningless.

both pats and chiefs are remarkable for winning dominantly in a league built for parity.

Not gonna laugh at y'all who think the halftime show was trash; I only "get it" because I took a music history course at UT that covered it, which is arguably worse than not getting it at all. And that was when hip-hop was new and fresh, not now that it's old and stale. Gen Z is going to be the last generation to really like and follow hip-hop. Gen Alpha... doesn't like it; it's Old People's Music to them.

Hot sluts are the engine of the music industry. Before cell phones and tinder we had to go out to bars and watch local rock bands to see and possibly engage with hot sluts. It drove the scene and those bars full of hot sluts and horny bros gave bands something to work for.

In the late 90s/2000s all the sluts shifted towards wanting to fuck rappers. So everyone became soundcloud wanna be rappers. Rap almost always sucks live too so the live music scene crumbled.

Country has been the only music with a thriving live scene, and the sluts and bros are starting to discover it. Now all the sluts are out looking for a Morgan Wallen and the bros are dressing like him

Who gives a shit? Once you're in the HoF, you're in.

But if you ARE going to argue about it, ignoring the context of individual games and game plans is stupid. A great DL dominating the OL, and refusing to even ATTEMPT to establish a run game, makes ANY qb look bad.

Brady looked bad vs Giants because  Spagnuolo produced what is probably the greatest Super Bowl gameplan ever implemented. Last night, not so much.

LeBron is 6'9 , 250 vs MJ 6'6 , 215 so I guess he was physically superior to him , huh?

MJ would pull LeBrons tiny little heart right out of his chest and eat it.

Why would I take Brady over Mahomes..

Average Super Bowl score for Brady is 24.6 -21..

Average Super Bowl score for Mahommes is 25-29.6

Last 2 Super Bowls Brady won his defense gave up a combined 12 pts.

Brady played in 4 Super Bowls where his defense gave up 17 or less pts.

Mahommes has not played in a Super Bowl, where his defense gave up less that 20 pts. His defense has given up 30 or more in 3 of the 5 Super Bowls he has played in, compare that to just once for Brady.. I taking Mahommes, because I believe he is the better Qb to this point of his career. We will see if he can maintain this level, like Brady did. The idea that Brady is better because he has more Super Bowls, completely disregards the other 21 starters. Winning Super Bowls is about more than simply Qb play.

Eagles DL dominated the Chiefs OL. They were able to get pressure without blitzing, that is much worse on a QB. The best game plan a DC can have is the ability to constant pressure with 4.

LeBron v MJ is an interesting sidebar. Not relevant to football, but appreciate the attempt. You have the obvious 5 starters vs 22. The even more obvious concept that in basketball you play offense and defense. Single player can make I much greater impact in basketball, than in football.

Not sure the stats above really matter as during the first part of Brady's super bowl runs, he was more of a game manager and the defense of the Patriots is what lead them to those Super Bowls.  It was around 2006 when Brady started throwing and 2007 when Moss showed up (then later Gronk) that the offense became the center piece of the Patriots, but then the defense actually started to suck.  Mahomes is amazing and his best chance in my mind to receive the GOAT talk was to win 3 in a row which Brady didn't do.  Then someone could argue a three peat and say 4 or 5 Super Bowl wins is better than Brady's 7.  The hard part Mahomes will have is what has been mentioned above about coaching and the team around him.  Belichick was younger than Reid when the 20-year run started, so he stayed for the whole thing.  Mahomes most likely will get a new coach in another year or so and will he be as good as Reid who is one of the best ever?   Will Spags retire at some point and the defense gets worse?  The other issue is Belichick as the GM built the team around Brady multiple times.  You had an amazing D with Seymour, McGinest, Harrison, Vrabel, Brushi, Law that became a D with totally different players over the years like McCourty, Wilfork, Revis, Gilmore.  If you look at the offense it had to be changed over multiple times with different WR's, TE's, RBs, and an offensive line that was always pretty good with different great players over 20 years.   The only way Mahomes reaches Tom Brady's 7 is if the GM of the Chiefs does an amazing job and restocks that roster over and over again (which nobody has been able to do except Belichick so far) or he starts to pull a Lebron James and jumps to different teams every few years that are stacked (Similar to what Brady did when he won his 7th and went to a loaded Bucs team).

I don't know but was there as much team churn during Brady's run as we are seeing now. If different then that may be a significant factor.

To be fair to Spags, that's a great offense Philly put together, and given that their success has been based on running the ball, focusing on shutting down Saquon seems like the right call.

Losing Chris Jones hurt a lot.

prolly a minor.

i am not here to wade into the annual tradition of dipshits having a good cultural cry about the super bowl halftime show and how it did not appeal to their preferred artistic aesthetic.

that said, it is definitely kind of amazing that for the global spectacle that is the super bowl halftime, we just had it culminate from highlights from some pretty good tracks from DAMN to a climax featuring a diss track from a rapid tit-for-tat feud in which kendrick basically drags drake for being a pedo for the world to see. that's kind of amazing.

perhaps it is the second salvo in our new war against our new sworn enemies...the canadians.

turns out philly spending the last 100 years drafting the best dlineman out of georgia was a good call. that was an absolute line of scrimmage thrashing and i rather enjoyed it. also glad to see that worthy had some nice plays in garbage time. i will say this about charles omenihu, dude definitely wears his emotions on his sleeve. him bawling on the sideline reminded me of his complete meltdown after losing at kansas in 2016.

It's relevant in the debate of who is the greatest. It's Brady and it's not particularly close. Someone mentioned upthread Mahommes being called the Goat in waiting. If someone is dumb enough to say that they don't have a clue about what the term Goat even means. The overall count of SB wins and the 28-3 game were more than  enough to cement that title, then Tom switched teams, goes 4600/40/12  and wins another Lombardi and SB mvp at 43 to make it stupid for anyone to dispute it.

He’s beefing with Drake and pro Lamar stuff comes across my social media, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything pro Drake. Lamar won Grammys and set media ablaze at the superbowl. Seems like he’s won.  Are there legitimate fans of Drake out there in sizeable numbers? Is it actually fairly even in support and I just don’t see it? Seems to me his career would be over but again I don’t follow rap beefs. What would define someone who supports Drake over Lamar in this  beef and vise versa?

Why do we as sports fans constantly want to debate this rather than just enjoying greatness? It's the lowest form of communication tbh to just debate who the GOAT is after every season, especially when one is in the prime of his career and we have no idea how the rest of his career is going to pan out. Like why is it necessary? Mahomes defense lining offsides basically cost Mahomes one super bowl. His lines have cost him the possibility of two more. Does it make y'all feel better to rank them and then debate over and over again? Lame shit.
