Why would I take Brady over Mahomes..

Average Super Bowl score for Brady is 24.6 -21..

Average Super Bowl score for Mahommes is 25-29.6

Last 2 Super Bowls Brady won his defense gave up a combined 12 pts.

Brady played in 4 Super Bowls where his defense gave up 17 or less pts.

Mahommes has not played in a Super Bowl, where his defense gave up less that 20 pts. His defense has given up 30 or more in 3 of the 5 Super Bowls he has played in, compare that to just once for Brady.. I taking Mahommes, because I believe he is the better Qb to this point of his career. We will see if he can maintain this level, like Brady did. The idea that Brady is better because he has more Super Bowls, completely disregards the other 21 starters. Winning Super Bowls is about more than simply Qb play.

Okay, I guess. I'd point out that you used the term 'Super Bowl' 8 times to convince us that the Super Bowl is not an important QB metric in your opinion, though. In a thread about the Super Bowl.

I believe both Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen have better career stats through 7 seasons than Brady. Would you take either one of those guys over Tom?

Some of the funniest whining I saw was someone saying that he should have said "Buster" instead of "Mustard"

Amen. The Boob's commercial while dealing with a beyond serious matter, was a good example. Putting the Ta Ta's so out there and not expecting some looking, which the Ta Ta bearer's expect, was a little too much finger wagging.

Just went and watched.

Your position is that the breast cancer awareness commercial was political and/or woke?

Don’t follow rap but it seems to make a lot if people happy and pissed off assholes so that’s alright in my book. Serious old guy question. He’s beefing with Drake and pro Lamar stuff comes across my social media, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything pro Drake. Lamar won Grammys and set media ablaze at the superbowl. Seems like he’s won.  Are there legitimate fans of Drake out there in sizeable numbers? Is it actually fairly even in support and I just don’t see it? Seems to me his career would be over but again I don’t follow rap beefs. What would define someone who supports Drake over Lamar in this  beef and vise versa?

i have zero rooting interest whatsoever and while i occasionally throw on "damn," i don't listen to either with any regularity. personally, i thought "family matters" and "push ups" both kinda slapped as henry james would say. but in terms of the popularity contest, kendrick definitely had more support. both kendrick and drake got hundreds of millions to billions of streams on these tracks so i would say they both "won" (though not like us got 10x than all the others).

I didn’t watch the Halftime Show and haven’t for years. It has nothing to with “wokeness” but everything to do with artists that I don’t follow being a part of it. My son really enjoyed the show, but he’s big into rap. He’s a huge Travis Scott fan. Now, if they did a Dead & Compnay halftime show I’d be all in, but I suspect it wouldn’t go over very well.

I'm not really big into rap but I love Kendrick and so does my wife as well as SZA is one of my favorite artists so I definitely enjoyed it. I also don't understand why anyone would get mad about the halftime show. Such a weird thing to get pissed about.

not my thing either but my 16yo loved it and only watched the SB to see him.  that's exactly what the nfl was going for.

Yeah I mean, Kendrick is huge.  Sat with my son and his friends while Kendrick showed up late to ACL in 2023... was only a 40 minute set (brutal) but he was pretty amazing.

Have'em roll out Tyler the Creator next year and his whole vibe and let's see where it goes

I think the whole Super Bowl Halftime Show has just run it's course. Who gives a fuck who the artist is? Have a normal halftime and get the second half going.

Nonsense! You have to have a strong, polarized opinion about absolutely everything. It's 2025.

Obviously tons of people give lots of fucks.

But people like you and me are going to watch the game even if we get the goofy halftime shows they used to have prior to 1992. It is not really for us.

Halftime was fine.  I was way more irritated with the pregame slog.  The new years attack was awful.  I don’t need 4 separate, “we’ll all heal together through football” musical interludes/speeches/acknowledgements/announcements ……in 30 mins surrounding the supposed 5:30 kickoff time.

Pre-game was still more entertaining than the actual game.

I rather enjoyed watching the Dline of Philly destroy KC.  Not a great game entertainment wise by any standard definition , but hats off to those guys.  Unbelievable performance.

As a lifelong Chiefs fan I of course hated it. As a football fan I loved it. It takes so much to get to a Super Bowl and win it let alone to make three in a row and also to win all three. Philly was a great team built to destroy the Chiefs offense. A game like this tarnishes nothing with Mahomes. What he has done since he started with KC is borderline insane. The O Line was a weakness all year. Mike Tyson came in and knocked them the fuck out and that's what makes sports so great.

Most of the season the chiefs were awful at the run, with the 29th ypa rushing.  How they won in spite of that is a credit to spags and Mahomes.  Ravens and bills had to watch that saying how did we fuck it up?

Lilelong Eagles fan, and I'm thrilled! I felt good about winning but no way expected a blowout. Had a watch party on Broad Street and walked out into the madness, there is no better feeling as a sports fan. We are a perfectly sized city for hundreds of thousands of fans to get together and party within minutes of the end of the game. For once, there were no tragic or embarrassing incidents that I know of. Maybe we can check that box for y'all at the parade on Friday.

The Eagles should be right at the top again next year and maybe beyond. Defensive coordinator and OL coach, two extremely important positions, are in their 60s and don't sound like they care about being promoted or leaving town. Sirianni is a dork but give him credit for staying centered among his bosses, his staff and most importantly the players. I hope he doesn't start doing commercials or anything that makes him seem bigger.

Yea that too. No line and no run game and still got the 1 seed in the AFC and beat the two MVP candidates to get back to another Super Bowl. Hating on Mahomes is pretty hilarious imo. This isn't the NBA. Great players get beat by great teams in the NFL all the time.

Dude has been to two Super Bowls in only four years as a head coach and won one. He can pretty much do whatever he wants lol.

I am just happy that I know who both of those people are. The thought hit me last night that at some point in the future, I probably won’t know who the halftime performer is. And that will make me officially old.

The Chiefs run was enabled by getting to play by a different set of rules than the rest of the league, but Philly was so much better than them it wasn't going to matter. Mahomes is a great player but he benefits tremendously from getting ridiculous penalties in his favor, which inevitably changes how defenders play against him due to the fear of getting flagged for roughing or a personal foul when scrambling. His lineman rarely get called for holding, illegal formation or false starts- advantages which they routinely flaunt. After the bogus OPI call against Phiily on the opening drive the officiating was pretty even last night- hell there was even a holding call against Taylor- because it didn't make a shit. Once Reid retires the preferential treatment likely drops off more.

Fascinating. Post from a week ago that showed that when Mahomes has more time to throw, he does worse. Philadelphia not only got pressure with 4, but they were effective at keeping guys covered for those first few seconds.
