Then, all of a sudden, you say I doxxed myself with a flight screenshot where my identifying info was blacked out. A more paranoid person may think that’s more than a coincidence and a complete dick move if @immamac or his minions are complicit. But I would never say such a thing.

But, if you want to contact an employer I no longer work for, you do you my man.

Bro, you posted an image with your personal information. Removing highlighter obfuscation takes like 30 seconds.

Anyone can see what you marked out in that image by editing the picture.

Absolutely not. I knew full well what I was walking into. Texas is a liberal school and I’m not a bonafide liberal. Plus, I’m a known troll. But, there’s a line and I’m trying to figure out if it’s been crossed. I’m perfectly fine having people exposed for being shitty, myself included.

But, I’m letting it die to allow the thread together back on topic. If others don’t follow suit, I rescind that comment.

Trump signed an EO tonight to turn Guantanamo Bay into a migrant detention camp. One of the most controversial and ugliest places in recent US history. A place that was shutdown over atrocities performed there is potentially being turned into a migrant camp for 30k people. This shit is fucked up.

this isn't going to end well

and cuba should be the 51st state !

Reuters: US military deportation flight likely cost more than first class

WASHINGTON, Jan 30 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's military deportation flight to Guatemala on Monday likely cost at least $4,675 per migrant, according to data provided by U.S. and Guatemalan officials.

That is more than five times the $853 cost of a one-way first class ticket on American Airlines from El Paso, Texas, the departure point for the flight, according to a review of publicly available airfares.

It is also significantly higher than the cost of a commercial charter flight by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Trump launched the military deportation flights last week as part of his national emergency declaration on immigration, so far sending six planeloads of migrants on flights to Latin America.

Only four have landed, all of them in Guatemala, after Colombia refused to let two U.S. C-17 cargo aircraft land and instead sent its own planes to collect migrants following a standoff with Trump.

A U.S. official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, estimated the cost to operate a C-17 military transport aircraft is $28,500 per hour. The flight back and forth to Guatemala, not including time on the ground or any operations to prepare the flight for takeoff, took about 10-1/2 hours in the air to complete, the official said.

not shocked this is happening in conroe ....

Susana Amaya's 15-year-old daughter said her Spanish teacher had asked her about her citizenship status.

After Amaya posted about the incident online, she received complaints from other Conroe ISD parents about similar situations involving their kids.

Here’s the deal guys. We let in people basically unfettered for years. This is the backlash. I don’t like it, but it’s extremely predictable. Better than calling people racists is asking why Democratic party has worst approval rating in the history of the poll.

https://x.com/aaronblake/status/1884679073953178046?s=46

An absolutely brutal @QuinnipiacPoll for Democrats:

Republican Party: 43% favorable, 45% unfavorable (-2)

Democratic Party: 31% favorable, 57% unfavorable (-26)

at some point we have to stop saying it’s the messaging. The amplitude of these numbers don’t suggest it’s that. It’s the message. We have to do better.

What good is the message when the media holds you to a standard exponentially higher than what they hold Republicans to?

That falls on deaf ears. Most media is left leaning. Does Elon/twitter totally overwhelm that advantage?

That poll is alarming to me. That isn’t just tweak this or that. That is saying we have the wrong positions.

Most media isn’t left leaning. Media is profit leaning. Trump and the outrage cycle is great business most media outlets. Stop participating in the for profit media machine. Just as bad as social media.

This is sad. Y’all just made my point. If our overall message/policy has 30% approval, then we need to change that if we have any hope of actually making good things happen

I don’t disagree the Dems need to change. I was simply saying you’re missing the point about media, it’s entertainment and for profit now. There’s no real news among the biggest outlets. Right left nah, profit.

Why don’t you just wear a hat that says, “I am in a cult!”?

” I am not a critical thinker”, “ I am not well educated - and OK with that“ , and “Anything I see on Fox News I assume is correct without further investigation - especially if it agrees with my Facebook” would work too.

That last one is probably too long.

I understand where you’re coming from. I do.
But what’s the problem you want to solve? Outcomes? Certain policy being enacted? MAGA not in power? Trump not in power?

Each one shapes whether your solution of changing positions in the Democratic Party solves anything.

What needs to be dropped? Would dropping said policies degrade the already fragile coalition?

Whats funny to me is that republicans have done nothing to change policies other than to make them crueler and to bully our allies more. Is that something the dems should adopt?

Fundamentally the Republicans are selling simple answers to complex problems. They are the get rich quick scheme as opposed to hard work and compound interest.
America is an addict that has been given so many chances that you have to step back and let it hit rock bottom and pray it can survive it so that it will get the help it needs.

It's a wide ranging thing. Lost all 7 swing states. Lost popular vote. Worst ever party approval rating.

Some things are easier than others.

The first step is always admitting there's a problem.

Look at the issues where Trump's positions are popular. Immigration. Take a look at the Laken Riley Act. Every D swing state Senator voted for it, and also the two NH senators. They can see which way this thing is blowing. There's no reason that every single other D Senator voted against. It shows a lack of understanding of the current political environment. It should be ok to say that if you are here illegally and you're arrested for burglary or theft that DHS will detain you. Dems don't have to be the party of "law and order", but it can't be disregarded. Look at NJ, NY, Illinois, California. All those states moved far to the right this cycle. I would say part of that has to be the deteriorating conditions in their urban centers.

What part of the coalition do you lose if you modestly tougher on crime and immigration?

Hispanics? They're already halfway out the door, especially in the places you'd think the opposite would've happened. That's a red flag right there.

African Americans? I don't think you lose them.

College educated? I don't think so.

So why maintain this stance?

No

Unfortunately the simple answers look easy right now. Have to watch and wait for mistakes and pounce.

Otherwise, the gender gap is also a problem. I'm not sure how the message delivery can be tweaked to appeal more to younger men. The PC/scold thing isn't working.

Is the party of "law and order" the one that pardoned January 6 insurrectionists who assaulted law enforcement and threatened to murder government officials?

Centrists moved to embrace a hard line on immigration and gained nothing. The right accrued power. Wtf are you suggesting? I’m not an ankle grabber.

I’m not sure I’m understanding. Are you saying the Ds that voted for that act embraced a hard line on immigration?

If so, that’s a great representation of the problem. The majority of the country doesn’t think that’s hard line. At all.

They gained the credibility of changing positions in the face of changing circumstances and realigning with most of their constituents.

Truth. I don’t believe @raw dog has thought it through, either, as both parties had come to an immigration reform deal. Now, he’s saying the problem is Ds didn’t go far enough. Were Ds supposed to leapfrog Rs to be on the more restrictive side? Fuck that.

People in my hometown apparently used the Facebook page that people there use to keep up with local news, lost dogs, help with stuff, etc. as a place to remind locals they can anonymously call ICE and get people around them deported. Some of the people agreeing with this are people I went to school with for 12 years and knew well.

Screw them and I wish the worst upon them every moment for the rest of their lives. This is where we are at now. If you have a family member or friend doing this either castigate them for it or completely cut them off from your life. When I saw that some of the people were Hispanic it was just a moment where I knew that everything I grew up thinking or knowing is just gone.

A lot of what I thought I knew about this country or family members or friends has been completely flipped upside down over the past year. It has been eye opening to say the least.
