This is the most wild thing that has happened.  This is like Luka trade wild.  We are creating foreign camps we can send undesirables to with no chance of representation or release.

Im surprised it isn't being done at a for-profit prison here tbh

Good for who? Them I guess? If apparently there are no repurcussions? Not that I'm going to cry a tear for Chase, but somehow they'll find a way to pass thoses losses onto the rest of their customer base.

This summer, I'm going to make sure my male progeny starts a lawn crew.  My peeps who voted in the Democratic primary are going to get one price.  Neighbors who voted in the Republican primary are going to get a very, very different price.

Tell the pubs it’s just Trump Tariff.  An extra 50%, but don’t worry China will pay then back.

not that it matters, but Denver is on deck today. lots of pics and video, multiple locs throughout the city...surprise, they aren't looking for specific criminals, just knocking on doors: 'any drugs in the house? what is your name? do you speak English?' i saw the videos.

whooey.

If they go up into the mountains to do that then all the restaurants near A-Basin, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Breck and Vail are screwed. Imagine that’d severely hurt Winter Park and Granby as well. I worked with some really amazing people up there years ago and this would definitely affect some good people doing jobs that white people simply refuse to do.

This is all just so very, very dumb. One shot at life and this is how these people in positions of power are using theirs.

does it matter?  They need to be deported before they soil our great nation with a poor performance of God Bless America on their plastic recorder.

It's okay, they go after the elderly too.  Last time Trump was in power, they tried to challenge the citizenship of US citizens who were born in certain border hospitals back when record keeping was not top-notch.  In other words, including my father who was born in a border hospital in the 30s.  US citizen, US veteran, and they wanted to challenge his citizenship and put the burden of proof on him to prove that he was born in the US, KNOWING that the records from back then are scant.

My father is now dead, but I'm sure that wouldn't be an impediment to them trying to fucking deport his corpse.  Fucking ghouls.

None.

But they’re kids.

So maybe they slip up when an authority asks them about family’s status.

Then ice has probable cause to raid their home….

IDK. Doesn’t seem evil or draconian enough. But I guess they’re just trying the low hanging fruit approach of pressing minors.

Very real.  My wife runs the color guard at our high school, and they have winterguard competitions coming up.  The other day the principal sent out an email stating that any school trips over 100 miles from the school, he need to know about.  She first thought this was some cost-cutting move/deciding if it was worth spending the money on..  She asked him about it and yeah, turns out they want to know so they can prepare for this, as lots of groups, athletic, academic, arts, travel down south for competitions.  Most of our schools teams don't travel much farther south than San Antonio, but some go to Corpus, and if there was something further south, they might have to reconsider it.  Majority Hispanic at our school, so it's an issue.  They've already had conversations on what to do if ICE or someone shows up at the school.  Fuck it all.

At that age my friends and I had all made up fake countries and would do battle Risk-style on a map. A few of us designed coats-of-arms, play money (I tried to spend mine at the mini-mart on a dare,) and who knows what else.

Totally would have designed some imaginary ID papers if I were 10 right now. 50% chance would pretend to speak an imaginary language when questioned.

Very telling that many of the ICE raids are occurring at schools and work places. If you needed to round up American citizens, for whatever reason, I assume that a work place would be one of the last places to find Americans.

/csb My DCI corps got stopped going into Canada and the border security guys got on our bus and started loudly interrogating random guys in the middle of the night.  One dude was fast asleep, awoke in a fog and couldn't really answer their questions or produce his passport for a few minutes.  They were actually going to cuff him and haul him off the bus until he got his wits about him.

Canada.

Don't doubt it.  Years ago we took a family vacation to Niagara Falls.  On the way our van died, transmission went out in Memphis, so we had to buy a new van to complete the trip.  Of course going into Canada with a brand new van with paper plates, you woulda thought we were terrorists.  Pulled our kids out of the van, asked them questions, questioned the hell out of us...  We're as white bread as can be, but hey, maybe that's what we wanted them to think...

Worst immigration experience our family ever had was my daughter's process of getting her student visa for her college studies when she entered Canada.  Mind you, she/we are as "no worries" an applicant as you could have.  Everyone has clean records. You have to show that you have enough money in the bank to fund her education -- we had WAY more than was needed.  But when we applied beforehand, for some reason, we got a "denied" with no explanation.  In conversations with the authorities, they advised "do what most people do -- when you fly up here to move here for school, bring all the paperwork, and we process the application right there at the airport."  She did that.  And she got an immigration official who was an absolute dick.  He berated her, asked her why the hell she even came here if they already rejected her application (umm....because that's what y'all told her to do), and as she was an adult, she went through that all by herself, my wife sitting across the terminal.  Finally, a nearby official took pity, came over and said "let me handle this," calmed everything down, looked at her papers, and a minute later printed out and handed her a student visa.

Shit, my son got a citation from German immigration (dumbass overstayed his visa by 8 hours), and it was a much more pleasant experience.  Don't fall for the "all Canadians are nice" bullshit.  Their immigration can be pointlessly draconian.

This is one of those Mark Twain “give a man a reputation as an early riser” situations I discovered some yeas ago. My wife’s family lives in Calgary and I was blown away by the amount of assholes I encountered.

I employ one of my sons, I tried to run the numbers on lawn care. The amount they need to function as young adults without asking me for cash - so that’s gas, car registration, oil changes, a portion of their insurance, walking around money, modest clothes budget, some date money, savings and retirement contributions ($100/ month) etc is an order of magnitude higher than what I pay our lawn guy. Our lawn care is $60 per visit, no extra work done that’s paid project by project. Thick of the spring we are $360 per month. Dead of winter, $0 per month. The way run our household making the kids function as responsible adults requires more then 2x the peak spring costs. We had to nix lawn care from their options bc it made no sense.

My buddy's wife teaches at AISD. He's claiming per her that none of the teachers of Hispanic background showed showed up to teach today. Now, my buddy's a naturalized citizen from England and known to s-t-r-e-t-c-h a story for effect. I'm not quickly finding anything about this online. Anyone hearing about organized sick outs in AISD?
8 of my 9 ESL students were absent on Monday. I have no idea about their immigration status, but I hate that my mind went to worrying that their parents kept them home.

Thankfully, they had all returned by the end of the week. But seriously, fuck this timeline.

My daughter has said a lot of this shit has popped up in her middle school. Kids taunting the Spanish teacher and other Hispanic kids as well. It's become pretty common for white kids to say they are going to call ICE on Hispanics.

The Gainesville Intermediate School was aware Carranza was being bullied and mocked by students who told the young girl she would be left alone when her parents got deported. It had gotten so aggressive, Carranza was meeting with a school counselor multiple times a week. Her family, however, was never notified.

must notify abusive parents if the kid is trans, but don't dare tell the parents if students are abusive

yep. out of the mouths of babes. this is what our country is now. this is what the majority wants.

This is what history will remember the most about this era in America. The absolute abandoning of being decent to each other. Seeing children doing this to each other is disgraceful.

My mother always makes good points on this stuff and today she told me that if there is a God out there like you believe there is then he must really be disappointed in us for all of this hate. All I could say to her is that were I God I would absolutely be disappointed in how we treat one another.
