I know. I was a coach (Soccer FTW). This dude is not AND went 0-12 last season. Oh, and the team (players) boycotted those last two games so they were forfeits or some shit like that. Sorry, don't have details. I don't track HS football.

This guy does.

What is the position that you’re not attempting to defend? That immigrants don’t pay taxes? You’re doing the typical dumb victimhood shit where someone posts something that’s easily refuted and then they cry that they’re being attacked by the liberal mob. Completely snowflake bullshit.

Do you now understand that resident (legal or otherwise) and non-resident aliens pay FICA? You willing to admit that you were wrong? Of course you aren't. Cyka.

I think people are just asking you to explain your thoughts that only people with a social security number pay taxes. I posted two links last night, no negative or accusatory commentary, and you didn't respond. I could infer something from that, but instead I'll give you a chance to explain your beliefs now. You know, unless you don't have any real rebuttal.

I’ll respond to this because I actually respect you.

The short of it is that it’s more complex than that. Yes, I concede that some undocumented immigrants pay taxes for programs that they will never benefit from. What I fail to understand is why would they ever get to benefit from them if they shouldn’t be here in the first place? They broke the law. You don’t get rewarded for it because you’re one of the good criminals that contributes. You don’t get to pass GO the minute you decided that your personal situation warrants bypassing the legal procedure. You aren’t entitled to live here as a foreigner. There is a process and you knowingly flipped it off. I personally have a problem with that having sponsored 5 people from Russia in my own home that waited their turn and did it the right way.

Additionally:

1. I’d argue that the vast majority of undocumented immigrants don’t receive paychecks, but cash under the table, therefore negating the payment of any taxes. There is no way for either of us to prove or disprove this;

2. I’d also argue that this that pay taxes with a fake Social Security are committing yet another crime that they shouldn’t be allowed to benefit from. Especially in our world of terrorism where our country is trying to keep its citizens safe. I’m a white American born citizen that doesn’t break the law and I still have to identify myself;

3. The cost of other services rendered far outweighs what is being collected by a worker in that wage bracket. That can range from medical costs to schooling to housing any criminal elements. We may make 100 billion in taxes but it costs us 10X that, all things considered.

Thats basically all I’m going to say on it unless something needs to be clarified.

I’d like to hear more about the Russian mail order bride and anchor babies. Sounds more entertaining than trying to explain how immigrant labor and the ensuing tax revenue it generates is a net positive to our economy to someone that is mad that they have to identify themselves because they’re white.

I'm sorry, considering you posted about being terminal, and saying your goodbyes, to having improved substantially and still getting treatment and having some possibility to prolong your life, I would count that as, and here is what I ACTUALLY said, MIRACULOUS improvement. Not magical. Miraculous. And unless I've mistaken about any of that, I apologize, I've nothing else to go on other than your limited posting about your health. Is your outlook not much better than it had been before your terminal post? If so I apologize.

The rest of your post is lazy bullshit that always gets castigated as "cloak room" shitty behavior. WHen asked to support a position with facts, people with bad positions inevitably say "I'm not going to bother, it won't change any minds." Or some weak response. It's almost like people can't find any supporting documentation for their positions. I'm glad for the sake of your family that wasn't the approach you took when it came to your health.

his "miraculous" recovery was starting dialysis to counteract renal (kidney) failure

there are 500k+ in this country on dialisys and the 37m with chronic kidney disease, 90% of which are undiagnosed

"If we do not address kidney disease early and work to slow or stop the progression to kidney failure, the expense of treating kidney failure could bankrupt the Medicare Trust Fund. The Medicare program spends more than $130 billion – more than 24 percent of total spending – on patients with kidney disease. Further, end stage kidney disease, which affects only 1 percent of Medicare beneficiaries, accounts for 7 percent of Medicare spending."

make sure you're sitting down spanky..... cause wait!  there's moar!  your brain is about to explode!

"The majority of the Medicare trust fund is derived from FICA taxes, with the current rate for Medicare being 1.45% for both the employer and employee, which means around 90% of the Medicare trust fund comes from FICA taxes."

that's right, spanky, the blood scrub that's keeping you alive is 90% paid for by FICA taxes

"A new study shows that undocumented immigrants paid nearly $100 billion in federal, state and local tax revenue in 2022 while many are shut out of the programs their taxes fund. The findings run counter to anti-immigrant rhetoric that undocumented immigrants are “destroying” social programs."

I'll go line by line:

1) Who said they should get those benefits if they haven't been made full citizens? I haven't seen that argument. Was there an argument somewhere that illegal immigrants should get Social Security and Medicaid payments? What are you referring to specifically?

2) This is blatant bullshit. They don't pay with a fake SSN. They pay with an ITIN, which is a Tax ID Number, and the United States Government ENCOURAGES illegal immigrants to do this, becuase as they go through this process of trying to gain citizenship, it is seen as a "good faith" gesture by those looking to become full citizens, and is a positive checkmark in their application process, which you of all people know can be long and arduous. There's no crime. The government gives a legal pathway to pay taxes, and it encourages immigrants to do such. It was in the links I shared last night. And it has been this way FOR DECADES.

3.) I've never seen any kind of economic report put together by experts that says they money paid by immigrants in taxes, sales tax, purchased goods, as ANYTHING other than a net positive to our economy. If you have supporting documentation for your claim, I'd like you to please share that. Hopefully from a credible source.

Immigration attorneys also encourage it because it's long been expected that a Congress would eventually come to their goddamned senses and provide a reasonable path to legal status or citizenship for low skill workers, along with efficiencies for higher wage foreign workers. It's all a pipe dream now because the country has become infested with spanky types who have nothing but hate for anyone foreign and are just chock full of lies that cannot be dissuaded by any objective truth. They are fucking immune.

Let’s not pretend that you care, ok? I’d tell you, but I don’t like my private shit being broadcast on the public boards or else I’d do it myself. I personally wouldn’t do that to anyone, but you do you. I’ve never once mentioned being terminal outside of our circle of trust. Purposely. You have no idea what’s going on so let’s just leave it at that. (At least no more than a basic understanding) I’m already being accused of panning for sympathy as it is.

Maybe I’m not making myself clear: I will respond to you I’m just not in a position right at this second to do so. At least not in a manner that adequately reflects my thoughts and ability to back them up with facts. You, and others, have asserted that I’ve run away from the thread. I haven’t. I just can’t respond right now. I don’t expect anything that I say to change minds. I do not care about that. I’ve been pretty respectful considering the lame attacks on my family, intelligence and character or the predicable way people take your posts out of context to attack you. Honestly, IDGAF what others think of me. I’ll sleep just fine tonight.

Thanks, and this will be my last response for a while.

Your positions seem largely based on bad information rather than bad faith. You must be able to critique your own point of view to grow as a person, I have done it plenty of times on this board when I hold an opinion that isn't actually based on empirical evidence/real data. I sincerely hope you recover and realize the insane harm that this administration is already doing to this country. Emphasis on recover, seriously. Get better. We've had enough Surly posters leave us.

Contrary to what you might believe, I actually do care. I watched my father spiral and wither away into nothingness from prostate cancer recently, while sitting in his bed watching Fox News and Jordan Peterson YouTube slop all day and turning him into a person I do not want to remember. Fortunately there are many many positive memories to bury the last few years of his life but you don't want to leave this world a hollow person that's unable to empathize with any position that doesn't make you feel good do you?

Doesn’t Medicare have to cover kidney failure? Like European style socialized medicine level of no age or means requirements?

Can you be MAGA AAANNDD partake in government run healthcare?

I care to the extent I don't anyone to die, or suffer, nor do I want their families and children to suffer. Contrary to my general demeanor on this board of assholes, I actually want people to be healthy, happy, and prosperous. If crossed a line of sharing between forums, I legitimately apologize. It's kind of difficult when you've been doing this board thing for decades to remember where exactly you read something, and the context from which it was given. I'm sorry.

Well, I am not sure where or what he shared in confidence with you but I knew everything you posted. I eluded to it in my original response to him and tried to have grace as it is tough stuff. I just lost my best friend to renal failure. Now we talk about reality, people were delicate and asking him to defend an indefensible position and he reacts predictably calling names. Then predictably pandering for sympathy. Don't fall for it. I just went through this with my best friend who I grew up with and love like a brother. He lashed out at me when I told him like it was about his condition. Sadly, mixing in dug in political positions with his situation, it won't end well. He put everything out there and we are under no obligation to give him a pass or feel bad when he acts fully out of pocket. I don't wish ill toward him but I have zero respect for his position and I am not going to feel sorry for the predicament he put himself in. Nor should you.
