I’ve been watching and it’s cool, but there were Concordes that flew commercially for 30 years.

That's why the thread is titled return of supersonic commercial air travel.

I lived in Northern Virginia for a while as a kid and we would see the Concorde approaching and leaving Dulles airport on a regular basis.

that's a concorde not a 2707

continental was one of the original concorde customers that cancelled

this to-scale rendering of the projected CO fleet after retirement of the Viscounts and before the Bass livery (the classic black then later red 'meatball' "contrails" livery, may, 68)

this rendering shows the giant size of the 2707 which was projected to carry 250 pax v. Concorde's 100

It was a 1/3rd scale model of the full size airframe. They wanted to prove the geometry and supersonic performance before moving into full size

negatory

it was a test article to prove they could do it

some of the systems will be in the production machine

but it's a horse of a different color...

@blacklab target seating is for 55 pax

Denver-Stapleton.

Boom is cool, and I hope they succeed. To me, supersonic commercial transportation is far more interesting/value-added than landing a rocket booster on a tower, or whatever other media stunt Elon is up to these days. But as mentioned upthread, the airline industry is largely unprofitable, so any new ops spec candidates will have a mountain of a business case to climb.
