From the creator of "This Is Us" gives me pause. (Then Sterling K Brown told me the same dude wrote "Cars" on Seth Meyers last night. I didn't know that.)

Yeah, I like Crazy Stupid Love. Didn't know he did that too. Still, though, This Is Us is just trash.

And Cars/Doc Hollywood is spot on.

Never saw Cars but was a big fan of Doc Hollywood.  Filmed in Micanopy FL (little town just south of Gainesville) around the time I was finishing law school there.

I like SKB notwithstanding This is Us so I have this on my list to watch soon.

We watched the first two episodes last night.  Intriguing enough to keep watching.

Is it considered a series or limited series?  Seems like the type of story that would do well as a limited series and get old as a full series.

Fogelman is involved with Only Murders too right?  I like that show just fine.

I'm in on Paradise.  Watched the first 3.  Wonder wtf is going on with Shahi, seems like more there than just grief counselor or even architect of social wellbeing

So I watched episode 1 and had no idea about the premise.  Maybe I wish I had because I rolled my eyes at end.  Seems like another Dome or modern day Silo or something.  I would have much preferred a mystery about an ex pres and the Secret Service agent that hates/likes him and that relationship in past and present while at same time solving the mystery.

I will stick it out a few episodes but not sure yet whether it will work for me.

Show seems like network melodrama on cable and streamed through a third party adult filter.

But I’ll keep watching I guess.

I’m 2 episodes in and I just don’t know. The performances are good and there are some genuinely good moments, but the fact that we’ve already been subjected to two down-tempo covers of “Another Day in Paradise” and “We Built This City” is just lazy and manipulative. If episode 3 contains a slow piano version of The Jam’s “Going Underground,” I’m going to throw shit at my TV.

I keep going back and forth on this show. There's the seed of a really great show with a cool plot and good acting, but the writing is bad and some of the plot lines are just straight dumb:

Spoiler

The daughter picks up a random ipad because it might "tell her what happened to her mother"?

The president decides to go live on TV and freak everyone in the country out?

It could also be that the whole "billionaire meglomaniac controls the president from behind the scenes" thing is a little too close for comfort these days.
