Just had all the living members of Nirvana playing together (Dave, Krist, and Pat) with various lead singers:

Breed (St. Vincent)

School (Kim Gordon)

Territorial Pissings (Joan Jett)

All Apologies (Violet Grohl)

Holy shit that was great.

Yeah, that was a re-do almost of the RRHOF induction concert. Great stuff.

Lots of spry 65-80 year olds on the stage tonight. Inspiring.

Can I send money to someone to have Billie, DMB and John Mayer not play a concert.

I don’t like Mayers music, but he’s a damn fine guitar player. His performance was freaking great.

Nah. All good. My feelings about him changed when I saw his SRV induction performance. I think he’s one of those guys who frankly is slumming a bit (to massive appeal). Wish he used those chops a little more often.

And I’ll be a cunt and ask if someone would pay so that Sting doesn’t play. So there’s that.

Mayer can fucking play.

You're shutting me down with kindness right now and I appreciate it. I'm trying to be a better person and my comment wasn't particularly funny anyway.

Hah. I'm listening to Zenyatta Mondatta right now front to back.

Sting was sure as shit great while he had Copeland with him.

Huge Police fan. Copeland is one of my favorite living drummers. Enjoyed quite a bit of Sting’s solo work, and his tour with Vinnie Colaiuta was great.

He’s such an ass and I hate this neutered version of that music he’s been trotting out.

Wait. We had a huge debate going on the other night.

Moon or Bonham?

Man that’s tough. You can chart so many of their influences into modern drummers.

I don’t know what Moon was doing half the time (live). Maybe he didn’t either. I think he’s was trying to play the melody.

I’ll admit early on not appreciating Bonham as much as I do now. Amazing combo of dexterity, flow and swing when he wanted to. Probably Bonbam.

I like you. You should post more.

My take is that Moon at his best (on "Who's Next" i.e.) sets the highest level between them and frankly I think it's pretty clear - BUT that Bonham had the better career.

Again.

YMMV.

Not really a wrong answer they were both animals.

I never like moons playing - that’s just me.

Bonham was incredible - fast, creative, technical, etc. Just a special talent imo.

I love Copeland too. What a great fit he was for what the police needed and wanted.

That one live album from the Crowes and Jimmy Page was fantastic.  Live at The Greek.  My favorite....

My former flatmate in Buenos Aires is the nephew of Sting’s guitarist for the last 3+ decades.

A cousin has been added to the band in the last few years.

So I’m pulling for Sting to have many more years of success so that Tío Dom will continue his run.

It was this interview years ago which helped me understand what he was really doing back there. Daltry geeking out about how he played the melody, and then the 'break' plain and straight. Start @1:27.

I'm not entirely sure Roger Daltrey knows wtf he's talking about there, but it's his band.

The thing about Keith Moon is you have to look at him and Entwistle as a unit. Its a very different thing than Led Zeppelin. I love JPJ, he is an intensely talented guy in some respects, but he is more of an arranger than a unique player. Bonzo definitely had a lot of similarities with Moon with his ability to go nuts, but JPJ was nothing like Entwistle in that regard. The combination of Moon and Entwistle is like nothing else, their ability to just go fucking ham and somehow it was always exactly what was needed is otherworldly. The Zeppelin rhythm section could not do that.

Man, I LOVE St. Vincent, but she is singing way behind the beat there.  I think she had monitor issues.

Oh yeah, I want to have Kim Gordon's babies.  Or something.  What?

I wonder how many times Dave has played "School".

Joan Jett killed.  Well, except the brain fart.  Damn, woman.  She's perfect for that band.

Great job by Violet, too.  Tough gig.  I wonder how much Dave just loves getting behind the kit and bashing it old school.

And they surely didn't want to.

Apparently Pink has been doing that cover for a long ass time but seeing her do it on here was a first to me and she killed it.  Zeppelin is my favorite band and I have zero issues whatsoever with that performance.

Also thought No Doubt killed it.  Man getting old sucks.  Gwen up there at 55 and looking like we are back in 1995.

Enjoyed most of the acts.  Good shit.
