I haven't been watching yet.  Has the season been good?  I keep being disappointed by 2nd seasons of shows, so I wait to hear feedback.  Thanks.

I think it's pretty good. The timeline advances 5 years to the late-70s. Lots of interesting storylines. I haven't watched last night's episode but I love this show strictly from the period piece aspect.

Agree.  Solid 2nd season.

I still don't know why we have two Franco characters.  Seems like an unnecessary gimmick.  Wouldn't be surprised if they kill Frankie off.

Pretty well sums it up.

Pardon the stupid question ... was it obvious there was a 5-year jump and I missed it? It was obvious from context there was some fast forward, but watching S1E1 I missed it if it was clearly called out. Agree on two Francos and solid second season.

We watch on HBO Now and they have a small featurette about the episode at the end. That's where they made it clear that the time jump was about 5 years. I miss the Curtis Mayfield open.

I keep forgetting to start season 2.  Really enjoyed 1.  Maggie Gyllenhaal may have the worst pair of up tops ever for a relatively fit actress.

I think she's well cast. She's not hot but okay, so believable as street whore -> porn star.

Thanks on the time jump - was obvious there was one but not obvious (to me) five years (vs. 1, 3, etc.). I was not a big fan - I actually thought we were getting to the good spot to see how they made the move vs. showing everyone already landed.

That's pretty much what a woman whose breastfed 2 kids and hasn't had plastic surgery looks like.

Hers always looked bad though.  I suppose she could have popped her kids out early, but they've been saggers for some time now.

I never bought Batman and Two Face fighting over her. Obviously Batman could pull superior wool. Two Face probably could too

First thing showed in episode 1 was 1977. Did we know that season 1 ended in 1972?

Was hoping we'd see the up tops of the girl who was doing the movie with Larry. It seems like everything's about to heat up with mob guys.

You know those people that say "this is the best show, you have to watch it!", well that's the deuce for me.  I just like that time period. Dirty, filthy, criminal. MG is cast perfectly, white trash saggy tits nasty.

Leather Tuscadero is fucking hot as balls, really like that they have her braless in most scenes.

It's really just the latino pimp and the nondescript other pimp that I don't think they've ever named. Method Man is too sleepy to do much. Didn't think it would end like that but I guess with Lori gone, his storyline had come to an end. Glad to see Armand Assante getting some work.

Going back to last week, did Chris set up his former partner to kill himself or was he thinking he could bluff him into turning himself in? I thought it was the former since he doesn't produce the watch to his lieutenant after Danny offs himself.

I'm curious how many more seasons they'll go. They're obviously setting up the Paul storyline to get to the AIDS crisis. I'd imagine it's going to get Community Cleanup guy since he's going to bathhouses which were a large reason HIV spread so quickly.

Maybe some or most of them, but definitely not all of them.

The other pimps want to kill her.  He was actually the one keeping them from doing it.

I just don't see her making it thru past this season.  She's got great tits, shame.

Simon announced that next season will be the last.

Damn, hate to hear that but he knows what he's doing. No point dragging the story out an additional 2-3 seasons just to make some $$$.

This show is greatness.  Just got caught up after uverse ondemand inexplicably didn't have S2E2 for like a month.  S3 is going to be a mashup of Show Me a Hero and Lester Freamon style real-policin' getting Times Square all ready for the tourists

I just caught up on Season 2. It took me awhile to really get into, but man it's gotten really good the last few episodes.

One thing, though. What is the point in having Goldman being a closeted homosexual? Is that going to come into play or is it just a pointless sub plot?

i've really enjoyed this show. As I said before, the only thing I've found tedious was Maggie Gyllenhall's "creative process" in making "Red Hot." I thought it was cheesy and super lame, but I guess I understand why they had to do it. Would like to see more footage of Lori getting banged.

I'm guessing to make his character multidemensional and demonstrate the fluidity of male sexuality? Or how HIV could spread from the gay community to "straight" couples? Maybe he gives his wife the AIDS and his kids are orphaned?

It's more to show the disparity between Paul, who is out in the open and living his life, and Goldman, who represents the closeted gay male who had to hide who they were like Rock Hudson who wasn't outed until after his death from AIDS in 1985. Paul and his actor lover even reference Rock Hudson when they're discussing how the actor has to do shit jobs because he did one gay porn and now can't get any other work and how he should've stayed closeted. I really hope they get to the AIDS crisis of the 80s because I'd love to see Simon's take on it.

Hmmmm.....Interdasting. Maybe I'm a simpleton, but I'm gonna guess that someone is going to use it to try blackmail him.

I think it certainly adds texture to the whole out vs closeted discussion. But when Goldman was getting dressed to leave, and they guy said "we don't have to hide anymore" he specifically says something along the lines of "i'm a sexual man. don't try to label me". So I took that as them exploring the fluidity of a potentially bisexual character. Then again, he may just be lying to himself. We'll see what happens...

Enjoyable finale. Liked the Simon musical montage at the end, a la The Wire. That was always one of the best parts of the Wire, the reality that the players might change but the game stays the same. The Darlene/Larry scene was really well done. The little nods to VHS coming onto the scene gives you a hint about what's to come. Lots of exits from the show though with Reggie Love gone, Dorothy gone, I'd imagine they've gone with Lori as far as they can go. I wouldn't be shocked if she's already dead from an overdose when they time jump to the 80s. Can't wait to see how they wrap this up.

No, the pimps were discussing taking her out last week with Cece saying he voted no. The latin pimp seemed like he was going to be the one to do it. They threw you a bit because you're thinking that's Cece that the police were uncovering in the carpet given that's what Bobby asked Black Frankie to go get to cover up Cece's body.

That's right. Thanks.

Bridge on the River Kwai must have been an important movie to Simon. Appears in last night's finale and is alluded to in S1E1 of The Wire.

I'd say overall I was less into this season than S1, but it was still excellent. Love all the characters and the period piece aspects others have mentioned. I'd be willing to spend another hundred hours in this world if they'd let me

Dorothy death was a bit anticlimactic after watching the hammer go into CeCe's skull the previous week.  Harvey having to divide 125% of the movie up with the mobsters was pretty damn funny.  I still contend Leather Tuscadero is one of the hottest bitches on TV.
