The reason it takes no effort is because it is transparently on point.

You are like the banner bearer for a stupid shitlib. Think back to the past exchanges like ca 2018-19 and how badly you clowned yourself jimmy. I mean I love talking chili and food stuff with you, but you can only fall on your face so many times in the political discussions before we all have to stop taking your seriously.

Oh, dear.  Annie is near the bottom of tonight's bottle.  Please, uber to the liquor store, we wouldn't want you killing some innocent pedestrian.

No one is ubering to the liquor store on a sunday. If you dipshits didn't already load on up tequila before the tariffs hit, you are beyond help.

Well, you do in discussions of pharma practices.  But on this foreign policy stuff, I've never seen you do it.  Best I have seen is allusions to prior posts.

By osmosis, I can tell that you're opposed to military adventurism fueled at least partially by intelligence failures or manipulation, the civilian casualties they entail, and violations of civil rights by the intelligence-gathering apparatus.

I'll give Gabbard some small credit for opposing those violations, but I don't think when push comes to shove in this office she'll be the guardian of civil and human rights that you seem to think she will be.

the only position he actually has is that abortion should be outlawed and we'll start with ratcheting down on people seeking their second or third or fourth abortion and if you don't agree with whatever never-stated solution he has for that you're a racist eugenicist.

thankfully trump did him a solid and appointed a bunch of justices who think the government should be just small enough to fit into your bedroom and shortcutted that whole process.

@immamaccan you at least do new users solid and put ana on auto ignore?

Lurkers are the primary audience that is movable. If we convert a few of them to posters, one way or the other, the community benefits. If you want to auto-ignore anyone it should be the clowns like you with 500 neg reps that try to stifle any discussion content that you find out of center.

What should we do with clowns who have (oh I don't know) 1,231 neg reps and who stifle discussion by virtue of the fact that they can't string two coherent thoughts together because they're half in the bag yet they think they're clever?

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

We are lucky. Any dumb motherfuckers that end up on Mars thinking it’s some sort of viable alternative to Earth are in for a rude awakening. It’s basically a rocky, dusty Antarctica with effectively no water or air, absolutely no life (so… nothing to eat or to use to make shelters or medicine), and zero protection from ionizing cosmic radiation. It’s basically the Moon but further away (and thus with depressingly low sunlight levels).

The maximum life expectancy for Mars colonists would be the duration of whatever food and water they were able to bring. Odds are they’ll die much sooner than that. Procreation and propagation of our species there is simply out of the question.

Mars is a dead-end for humanity. The severity of calamity necessary to make living on Mars more palatable than Earth is essentially world-ending. Like a collision with another planet or being swallowed by an expanding Sun. It’s not even a remotely better option compared to massive global warming, nuclear war, or even an extinction level asteroid strike.

So of course the moron techbros running the world now think it’s a good idea.

Sorry I'm late to the party here... but we've known for about 53 years that Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids... In fact, it's cold as hell. Plus, there's no one there to raise them if ya did.

And all the science, I don't understand, so I'll defer to you on the specifics

Nightmare fuel, indeed. Also fuel for rage. Take this excerpt, just rage, rage, rage:

”Public policy expert Dan Moynihan told reporter Elliott that the fact these people “are not really public officials” makes it hard for Congress to intervene.”

As citizens, why wouldn’t any given American have standing to file suit against people unlawfully accessing their information?

USAID notice instructs staffers to stay out of its headquarters | AP News

Really was under the impression that it required an act of Congress to nuke a whole federal agency like USAID...guess we are in the post checks and balances era now with Elmo and Trump calling all the shots by decree?

The strategy I think is just to do it and worry about Congress later. But I suspect all of this will be rubber stamped later. But we will see, the Republicans do only have tiny majorities.

It's not super comforting knowing that what we are depending on for some semblance of restraint/guiderails on this administration is members of congress standing up for their bruised egos when Elon/Trump tries to usurp them...

so just thinking about the topic of this thread...if things really go south @immamac is gonna nuke the site and drill holes in all the server storage devices, right???

We are pretty far away from something like this, but I own all of the Infrastructure and maintain physical control of it in absolute terms.

Yep. Especially as there is nothing Congress loves better than ceding its authority to the President. Less responsibility for them to burden their brains with.

I hear instead of drilling holes in them, you can just dip them in bleach.

From a little personal experience drilling holes in hard drives is rather fun, can't imagine dipping them in bleach is nearly as satisfying.

USAID is an agency created by Congress and it can’t be closed by presidential fiat - or whatever role Musk pretends to have. Is there really going to be no pushback at all? Where is Congress?

What do you expect from a political party operating through an established political system when confronted with someone who won't play by the rules? Compound that with the complicity of the opposing "political party" that backs every anti-democratic move.

Let's all sit down and have a policy debate! May the best idea or compromise win!

This is a ruthless power grab carried out in plane sight and this electorate cannot even manage to fill the streets with protest. No national strike. Likely little discussion among the common voters and acquiescents.

This keeps rolling until it hits the point that the above begins to happen. I have no idea when or if that moment will come.

Hell, a large majority of pundits, panels, and smart people still don't get it. In the stadium, some people are playing and watching football. Outside the stadium, the world changes. Back inside the statdium, they think a better playcaller will impact what's outside.

Paradigm shift. Or maybe I'm an idiot. Or maybe both.

Well just over half of Congress is eating this shit up and likely to go along with it to "own the libs lol"
