For those saying this is the worst trade in NBA history, let me just leave this here.  Clippers didn't even win anything while he was there and got nothing when he left.

I don't understand why people try and rate trades alongside all-time trades immediately.

I mean the Gobert trade was a few years ago and it keeps looking either worse or better.

I honestly didn't know much about Adelson. What a dispicable wretched cunt. Maybe it'll be okay to move to LV to get her the fuck out. Dallas would be first on the list for expansion or the next move.

That’s the only way this makes sense to me—as the preliminary step in engineering a move that Dallas as a city and fan base would be fine with in the expectation that Dallas would quickly get a replacement.

Lmao at random message board posters comparing their bodies to professional athletes.

It doesn’t take being a pro athlete to know what a basketball player’s weight is. It’s the easiest sport weight to decipher. Tell us more how you didn’t ever play sports and don’t have the very basic of deduction skills.

Which is why I said the closest analog in NBA history was Moses Malone to the 76ers...

That trade was judged in a similar light at the time it went down

I don’t understand your point. Who is Dallas and who are the Lakers here? Because Dallas got NOTHING like what OKC got. And Luka is a bigger star than George. Who cares if the Lakers acquire a guy who underperforms. We are talking about Dallas making a terrible decision, because they could have gotten 3-5x more from some other teams.

Without the PG trade, Kawhi never comes to the Clippers. Yeah in retrospect it’s a disaster but that trade has to be considered with Kawhi in mind.

This. The trade was essentially for PG and the two time and reigning Finals' MVP. And, at the time, SGA was seen as a really nice player who make an All-Star game or two. It still blew up in their faces because they're the Clippers, but it was pretty reasonable in real time.

This trade is awful from the jump.

To those saying Nico's career in the NBA is over, I think the Lakers might hire him as a consultant after he gets fired by the Mavs. Gotta keep someone like that close.

Addelson can just send him over there now for free. Hell, give them Jason Kidd too as an assistant coach. Offer to pay 18,000 Lakers fans to AAC for every Lakers game in Dallas, since that's what this is about anyway. Everything about this is gross.

Even if Luka drops off to an average overweight role player, the fact remains that at the time of the trade, he could easily demand multiple first round picks over several years, the way OKC does it, and they got nothing, an aging big whose always hurt, and one pick 4 years from now. That will always be the worst trade ever. I see no other explaination than Addelson is pulling an Oakland A's situation, tank the franchise, then use the lack of interest from the fans you betrayed as a reason to move. Nobody, literlaly nobody, whose interest is in improving your own franchise makes this trade without at least shopping it around and getting several high picks, at an absolute minimum.

Luka could balloon to 300+ lbs over the next months and it still wouldn’t explain the lack of return for this trade.

Oh okay sorry, Nostradamus.

Luka doesn't even have to re-sign with the Lakers.

Also NBA history is filled with horrendous trades. There are some high bars to clear out there.

But, please continue. I'm thoroughly enjoying the meltdown.

This is reference to the Harden trade when OKC got a "ransom" from the Rockets according to some poster on this site. If you replace Dallas with OKC and Houston with LA, you have the exact post.

Aka that thread got slorch'd

The funniest part of this for me is Klay Thompson because I totally forgot he was even on the team. Like what is Klay thinking right now? The joke with Duncan for years was that some game he'd just walk out at halftime without telling anyone and never play again. I could see Klay doing that.

Rumor out here was he didn’t want to play with Lebron.  That left Dallas  as his best option

Meh just like the cowboys franchise I no longer give a fuck. Living thru Cowboys dominance until the 80s and enjoying the Mavs since their inception until this latest clusterfuck I just don’t give a fuck. Hence my username. Thank goodness my horns have filled the void

It will hurt the NBA in general.

I think after this dies down I'm going to make a collection of the funniest meltdown takes from this thread.

This is definitely going on the list.

The best one is still "even if Dallas wins the championship this season some of us won't celebrate"

Obviously, being a Warriors' homer, I had this thought was well. Dude hitched his wagon to Luka as his best/last/only chance to ever win another ring. He's a below replacement level player at this point on a play-in caliber team. Ouch.

It’s not the worst trade in NBA history.

It’s the worst trade in organized sports history.

It’s the worst trade I can remember in any sport. I’m sure someone can come up with something. But this is worst I’m aware of. Absolutely awful.

You're free to interpret that in a way that gets your rocks off, but I stand by it. The Lebron sweepstakes to Miami hurt the NBA. Not blaming him, not even saying he was wrong to leave Cleveland. But it changed everything and IMO basketball fans are the ones that took it on the chin. Fans are loyal and they like loyalty.

This Luka situation is different though. The organization abandoned their fanbase. Per reports so far, this deal was apparently done in secret and blindsided everyone involved except for the 2 GMs. It's incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional to everyone else involved, including the fans. This shit will linger.

Can you name one that was a straight up swap for a player of Luka’s caliber for one of AD’s?

Klay will have to work harder for his shots, but he'll get more of them now.

I rarely watch games anymore so I'm out of the loop on this, but what happened to KT? Was is just the aftermath of that achilles injury?

I understand the sentiment, but this tweet is stupid dumb. Everyone in Dallas would be saying, "Luka who?" if they're up 3-1 in this year's Finals.

...it's just not going to happen.
