Like I said above these people think the Mavs got the better part of the deal:

shaq

chuck

doug gottleib

gil arenas

kendrick perkins

This is not true. I heard the Chuck, Shaq and Perkins explanation. All they said was that this probably makes the Mavs better. They did not say they got the better part of the deal.

Put an asterisk by Shaq's name, he said the Mavs won for the next two years.  Which isn't true but it's what he said.

Correct.

Fair enough but have I got some good news for you Mavs fans.  Norm Hitzges says it will all be ok. Mavs will be alright

No CR: Expansion of gambling aint happening till Dan Goeb is out as Lt Gov, if ever. Abbott can say whatever he wants to make it looks like he is trying to "get it done" to deflect angry Mavs Fans and convince angry casino owners that if they just give him a little bit more in lobby money and political donations that it will get across the finish line...but it aint happening.

It either hits the ballot or won't.

If it hits the ballot, it passes.

But no, we'd rather play fuck-fuck morality/ protection games.

Wouldn't be surprising at all, just grift at every turn.

Either way, I have zero confidence in it passing in most of our lifetimes.  It makes entirely too much sense to pass it.

The guy who actually wrote the article, Ethan Strauss, said that Nico wasn't the guy who called Steph, Stephawn (the actual name mistake in the article is Stephawn not Seth). In fact he was on a Dallas area podcast just yesterday and pointed out  totally missed the point of his article. If anything the thrust was that Nico was a relationship manager and not an executive with decision making powers. He was basically a guy who made sure the athletes were happy. Steph was one of his clients but Kobe was his main client. The top decision maker for NIke didnt even attend the meeting with Steph, which, as Ethan points out in the article, more or less demonstrates what the prevailing winds were indicating as to the level of importance of Steph to the Nike portfolio at the time, (he wasnt). He goes onto say that Nico essentially peter principled as a GM after Mark sold the team. The plan was for Mark to be the defacto GM and Nico to curry favor with players he had relationships with.  When Mark sold to the Adelson's Nico was essentially promoted and now took on a role he was never supposed to have in practice. Strauss also theorized that the negotiations between Nico and Pelinka may have reverted back to the dynamic they had when Pelinka was Kobe's agent and Nico was his Nike rep. As a Nike rep for a client such as Kobe the biggest job description is to please your client and those associated with him ie his agent. Everything reported about the trade negotiations between Nico and Pelinka plays out as though Nico had a pavlovian response to please Pelinka as he did when he was Kobe's agent.

Not quite. There’s two pieces of gambling legislation. The one the article mentions would allow online sports betting. The other that Sands/the Adelsons are pushing would allow resort style casino gambling in Texas.

the other piece is the casinos in Oklahoma and Louisiana lobbying( bribing} the state Texas Government to keep gambling out

Day 6 AD.  Still can't believe he traded away a fan favorite who looks like he'll be a top 5 all time player.  And now they're gonna turn it around on the fans?  I will shed no tears when Nico and the Adelsons get run out of Dallas.

First they run their smear campaign against Luka, then on the fans.

No fans want to or are going to hurt any players. Ridiculous.  Front office personnel, maybe a different story.

Who's "they"?  Yeah Nico smeared luka...he aint smearing the fans. The fans are riled up online and the social media aware are jumping to stupid conclusions about how we'll react to the team.

They're being stupid and I can't believe the media is making us look that bad.

That is so stupid. Dallas fans have nothing against the fans, just the ownership and GM. “Player safety” concerns are just making Mavs fans look bad by the ownership and management who clearly hate them

I thought the goons behind school vouchers were also extremely anti-booze and anti-gambling (and eventually anti-dancing ala Footloose)

These stories on the fans going after players and Luka at 270 and whatnot are all coming from one guy, Tim McMahon.

Not hard to draw a straight line from Nico to McMahon.

mcmahon was the Mavs beat reporter that tweeted the Mavs had concerns about Luka’s “conditioning” about 5 minutes after the trade went through.

no critical thinking, just the ass end of a human centipede with Nico pooping it in his mouth.

Macmahon was also the one on Monday who wrote an article outlining how the entire deal came together complete with details only pelinka or Nico would know- for example the time and place of their meeting where they first spoke about the possibility of Luka being traded, etc.

He also has a book coming out soon about Luka. That endings is going to need to be rewritten now.

The icing on the cake is when kyrie turns down his player option next year to sign the MLE with the Lakers to make a last dance run with Luka and Bron.

Yeah because Kyrie is all about self sacrifice for the sake of winning. There’s a million times better chance he holds the Mavs hostage for the max now that he’s got leverage. They’re going to be paying him Chinese money until he’s 40 years old.
