My critter - former chair of the House Progressive Caucus and representing a seat Harris won 85-11 - is doing the same shit, posting "statements". 100% of the responses on Bluesky to each one are identical to the above: "Stop posting and do something!"

Perhaps it's time to realize that these people are just representatives, not leaders. It would allow our low expectations to be met.

It's moments like these when new leaders are born.

The Clintons/Obamas/Bidens are all gone. Chuck and Nancy might as well be. I'm not sure how much sway Bernie has nowadays.

Young Guns, this is your moment. Do or do not.

Which is very possible. The Republicans have a tiny majority with a notoriously difficult to control bunch of grandstanders.

The question is how anarchist do the Democrats want to be?

Burn it down, blame it on the Republicans.  Their rules.  Lets throw it back at them.

The only other option is just to sit there and take it like the Dems normally do.

Assuming there is a next president of course.

who's going to have the balls to step up to muskrat ?

Let's pretend for a moment I was named Greg Casar or Vincente Gonzalez, and I was the US rep within whose district Muskolini had significant holdings. Is there power inherent within my office that gives me the means of fucking over that twat's business interests within my district? Or am I simply relegated to finding a bunch of other like-minded folks to do something? I mean, I know a lot of people don't really like Casar, but he sure could be making some noise, as he has the temperament for it. No idea about Gonzales.

I dunno if that would be futile, but it's gotta start somewhere with someone.

She made a few posts highlighting the shit that Leon is pulling on BlueSky or Threads last night. My guess is she thought she was actively pushing back against Trump's two-week blitzkrieg. The replies were 100% of the "you're a fucking US senator for chrissakes -- don't post on social media about it, do SOMETHING!" variety.

Blue sky or Threads huh? Sure, because it’s important to ignore the largest platform.

Based on what, exactly?

I mean, what in the last say, 8 years makes you think a white collar criminal white guy is going to do a perp walk in handcuffs?  Especially the richest guy in the world?

Intuit (NASDAQ:INTU) is taking the spotlight after Elon Musk said the Internal Revenue Service's Digital File system has ended, as the tax program "has been part of INTU's bear thesis," Mizuho Securities analyst Siti Panigrahi wrote in a note to clients.

18F, a government tech office that helped develop IRS Direct File, "has been deleted," Musk wrote in a post on his social media platform X.

Direct File enabled the government to prepare tax returns directly for individuals. That put Intuit (NASDAQ:INTU), the owner of tax preparation tool TurboTax, at a competitive advantage.

Intunit (NASDAQ:INTU) closed out Monday's session with a tiny 0.1% decrease, though it edged up 0.5% in after-hours trading.

H&R Block (HRB), a fellow tax return preparation services provider, saw its stock gain 0.8% on the day.

As I said in another thread, these people are not acting like they have any expectation of having to worry about being held accountable by the voters.

Well, I'm sure she was posting the same shit on Xitter but I deleted my account on 11/5 and only find myself there when following a link from elsewhere.

This is the way. Probably more effective than the other option -- and less inflammatory to the run-of-the-mill MAGAt. We need McDonald's to take him down naturally.

Elon has point blank said he will ban anyone critisizing Trump and the Administration on X. So much for free speech right, Elmo?

Agree on the second point. Why couldn't Elmo use Matt Perry's ketamine dealer?

Why should they? They weren’t the first time. Plus they can be pardoned of all.

No. The IRS had developed a tax e-filing system where within certain constraints, they could send you what you owed in taxes and you can pay, and there was no cost or "filing fee". I think they tested it first last year and the feed back was pretty positive. I believe it was going to be available to a much larger number of people this year. But that would mean less money for the billionaires of Intuit, who has a long history of obstructing this development. It was on the cusp of reality so maybe they killed it for their Intuit tech bros. Or maybe they wanted to develop their own system, who the fuck knows at this point.

I'm back in front of my computer and the latest I read from the AP indicates there may be some confusion on what the fuck he did. I cant believe we're letting this dude just pick and choose what government programs to end. Lunacy.

This has been one of my chief personal complaints as a simple taxpayer. In other countries, this is how it's been done for however long (since the 80s in France, I know). They get the letter (tax bill) upfront based on everything the government already knows, and then they go through the exercise of whittling it down to their satisfaction. Here, we do it where the taxpayer sits down at the kitchen table sweating bullets the entire fucking time. It's a tortuous process, so no wonder everybody hates paying taxes.

I've often pondered the possibility that this is by design so that the American taxpayer would always be predisposed to hate the government and everything it does. Oh, and also these private firms leeches profit off a fucked up process.

The USDS and the IRS put together a free tax filing system that had a test run last year. It worked great and allowed many lower income American tax payers to file taxes for free.

DOGE has now replaced the USDS and decided people shouldn't pay taxes for free so they shuttered the program so private companies can collect a fee.

I think our tax code is needlessly convoluted, but purposefully that way so that it could accommodate an endless variety of carveouts and special interests. Its that complexity that necessitates the need for CPAs and paid services like Turbo tax. These industries are now massive and quite generous with the lobbyist efforts, PACs etc.... They dont want the gravy train to end. So it wont.

This article is a few years old, but im sure the efforts have only intensified.

And this serves their interests, too. Our relationship as John Q Taxpayer with the Federal Government is like them forcing us to take a swig of some toxic swill once a year to serve as a reminder to hate them. It hasn't made me, personally, ever want to watch the whole thing burn down, but I think that's half the reason for the angry mob with pitchforks.

Theoretically true.  However, the next administration, if there is one, will have to purge the DOJ first, possibly even down to regional US Attorney's offices.

And then they'll have a year to indict before limitations runs.
