Doesnt matter. The idiots read the initial headline or chryon and now it's fact that people 200 years dead were getting checks. It's now a fact. They won't question how those people were cashing those checks, since they died before checking accounts existed, but whatever.

Yeah. Reporting that wasn't moving too fast and making a mistake. Those kinds of stories are the propaganda they need to keep doing what they are doing.

He's got at least as much influence with the people giving Trump his power as democrats do.

LOL. Do they really think the federal bureaucracy won't figure out a way around that?

Forget the bureaucracy, govt vendors will help find the loopholes or processes for the employees.

I'm waiting for the first DOGE person to die from an "overdose" after they start snooping on the CIA or NSA's payments.

Tiny bit of good news … on Facebook a post in my districts Facebook group…

“fight corruption and waste elect DOGE candidates…”

55-45 county/district for Trump. 90-10 comments trashing the idea, huge anti Trump/DOGE sentiment right now on a very active post. It’s refreshing.

If there is one thing Americans can agree on it is that they don’t like pissant kids messing with their money and benefits. Elmo will be the only person that will employ any of them once he gets his walking papers.

Could Trump really return DOGE savings to taxpayers?

Really good piece discussing what DOGE cuts are actually doing relative to the overall spending picture.

A guy on NPR earlier this week ran the numbers and said that this proposal to return DOGE's "savings" to the American taxpayers might actually result in checks of about $11.00 per taxpayer.

So yeah, more bullshit with no legitimate accounting behind it.

Yeah you don't think those motherfuckers aren't going to cook the books to send more checks with the shitgibbons' signature on them?

They. Are. Going. To. Explode. The. Deficit.

My prediction if this happens:

Congress will pass legislation authorizing a one-time payment to taxpaying Americans as an "advance" on DOGE savings.  Everyone will get a check in the mail signed by Donald Trump for $500 or so with a letter saying "here is an advance payment for your portion of the savings, enjoy!!!"

And they will claw it back on everyone's tax return so that the overall effect is that everyone nets about $10.

A check in the fall presented with much bravado followed by a reduced refund in the spring when no one wants to do the math.

Don't we have a deficit? These "savings" aren't going to result in a surplus.

And aren't they going to have a big tax cut anyway?

DOGE firing people that aren't paid by taxpayers, notably at FDA.  https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-is-firing-federal-workers-who-are-not-funded-by-taxpayers-2025-02-21/

Quote
Most of around 200 Food and Drug Administration employees fired over the weekend held jobs that were paid for by fees charged to medical device makers under a 2002 law, according to former employees and sources familiar with the matter, depleting staff needed to approve medically necessary products like stents and implants for consumers. Overall, the FDA has around 20,000 workers.

Gonna piss off some big boiz, methinks.  @Murfdogg21

Should have tagged you in, too.  Device approval is already astonishingly slow to hear some of my clients tell it.  This could put a hurtin on some folks with deep pockets.

- "Find" $3T in savings (that's really only $100B)

- Give Elon a 10% finders fee

- Cut everyone a $500 check with your signature on it

- Give $2T in tax cuts (99.9% of which goes to top 1%)

- Explode deficit

- ???

- Profit!

But it won’t matter because the dumb people in the middle who decide elections will like the idea of getting a “free” $500 check to buy Jordans or a Coach bag with.

like Tupac said in his iconic sampled song “Changes”, “Free stuff army, both black and white, are smoking crack tonight.”

I have been wondering if "annual audits" by FDA that have been 18 months apart since covid will now be more like 2 years. I don't have any new 510k submissions on my immediate horizon. Winning?

As best I understand, they are FDA employees but the budget for their salaries are derived from the various fees imposed on device and pharma companies. I don't know if DOGE's plan (lol, like there is a plan) is to reduce the fees, or to cut FDA's budget and the (remaining) fees collected for the employees they kept. Regardless, I hope there is more reasonable and efficient mechanism for FDA approvals and audits when the dust settles.

My wife told me about this a bit ago.  She has not received an email, but she said (paraphrasing) let's think about the logistics of this.

Assuming 100K employees respond, who is taking the time to read the emails?  AI, for certain, will be involved.  But after that, who/what will determine if enough "quality" work was listed in the email to ensure that person should be spared?

This is the same thing he did at Twitter; where all staff were sent an email where they had to outline what they had accomplished in order to keep their position.

EDIT:  She received the email, but is not opening it.

ai will determine if they have jobs, from week to week

It’s foolproof, since work product certainly never varies week to week so people that didn’t have a busy week that week for sure are not needed, and those they were very busy that week are for sure in dispensable.

Got my email about an hour ago.  Not sure how, or if I'm responding. I never responded to his very first email asking everyone to reply "Yes" if they received it.  If I do reply, it may be something along the lines of this:

- did my job on Monday
- did my job on Tuesday
- did my job on Wednesday
- did my job on Thursday
- Fucked around on Friday (day off)
- Found out (about this email) on Saturday

Cross posting from the DT Elon thread.

Screenshots of the email itself are circulating and the “failure to respond” ultimatum is not in there. Unsurprisingly since it’s established law that federal employee resignations have to be voluntary.  I’d not open the email and just wait for any actual agency guidance.  OPM has no authority to fire or accept resignations except for OPM employees.

Plenty of employees across the workforce can only send:

- Classified

- Classified

- Classified

- Classified

- Classified

In reality Elon wants to feed stuff into AI and then blast alleged examples of “waste, fraud, abuse” across X. Secondarily they are upset that the earlier fork program didn’t work and just want people gone so they’ll make things shitty and suck in the hopes they’ll quit.

I also view it as a likely tacit admission that they are struggling with the work and reality of actually doing lots of RIFs.  Lots of reporting of cabinet members beginning to push back. So trying to get their numbers up by other means. You don’t do shit like this if you really have a plan and target in place to do mass RIFs.
