I just embarrassed some Jeff Bezos looking prick out of Otherside Bar in Chicago and got a shot. I don’t drink, but I do, so that was the best skrewball I’ve had in 4 months.

He was Gen X so I’ll get negged

The bartenders weren’t sugar babies so I don’t understand your interest.

If they work in a bar there is a very high chance that they are sugar babies.

My wife works for MD Anderson, and she and the other hundreds of coders are all wfh.  They were notified today that the state may cut off funding if MD Anderson doesn’t bring everyone back to the office. There will certainly be many that can’t afford to say no on day 1, but there will be many that quit within the first few weeks. Will be a CF, and the end result will result will probably be that mda uses contractors that wfh at a higher cost at least for the near term. Not to mention all the money they’ll have to start spending on elec, water , cleaning crews, maintenance, etc.

If you will recall the DOGE people also spent a lot of time tweeting about how they discovered evidence of potentially fictitious federal government employees connected to email addresses that don’t offer responses.

Imagine you make 100,000k/ year.

Now, you spend roughly $155,000/year. Ahhh.

You have to borrow the difference.

Your wife gets mad at you.
So to make her happy you comb through your finances.

Boom.
You found it.

You come to her and offer to cut the ~$1.32 you tip on ONE cup of coffee / year.

Then you go and tweet about it like you’re a genius.

Americans are so fucking number illiterate.

The US budget is so big that millions of dollars = the change in your couch to you and me.

These aren’t serious people.

It bears repeating that the entirety of the federal workforce cost makes up only 5% of the budget.  You could cut every single one and not even make a dent in the deficit.

That plant is located in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma (pop. 44,000), which voted 79% for TFG. I see a leap of leopards coming their way.

Without taking away from your statement, there are a lot of people that have difficulty with 'scale' when it comes to more than just money. "This is a great program!" But they only ran the numbers for a group of ten people and when you point out the flaw after sitting there and mentally sizing it up for 100 times that many because that is the target, they just blink because the concept throws them into a vapor lock.

No. Maybe just not post at all?

You post with the bravado of someone who has all the answers yet you have none.

I suggest you sit it out for a while

It’s not just money that people have issues with, it’s very big numbers in general.  And that’s true across the spectrum, it’s not something to be embarrassed of but it does mean that people need to be deliberate when making decisions.

You can understand what say, 100,000 people looks like as opposed to 1,000.  It’s a full college football stadium, while 1,000 was all the kids in your middle school on panoramic photo day.

You can’t conceptualize what 1 million or 1 billion people look like, in relation to 100,000 or each other.

this is MBA brainrot thinking in action. You know, the kind of shit where a new asshole comes in and says "YOU'RE SPENDING TOO MUCH MONEY!! WE NEED TO LOWER SG&A!!! Nevermind that the SG&A expendatures are driving a 10x in revenue for the money they're spending.

It's just completely decoupled and intentionally uncritical thinking. It's how the corporate business world works, and that's what's running the show now.

Following up on my previous posts:

Elon Musk’s unchecked consolidation of power over government infrastructure, financial systems, AI governance, and digital media does not serve the interests of the Trump administration or the broader conservative movement”, warns the memorandum. “While some may view Musk as a useful instrument in dismantling the bureaucratic state, in reality, his actions demonstrate that he is not working for Trump or the Republican Party, but rather for his own power and the broader neo-reactionary agenda.”

Musks personal bodyguards were deputized as Marshals during the trump transition. He has his own private police force with a state license for violence

Financial literacy is also a huge problem. I routinely meet with employees as part of my job to talk about the company's 401k plan.   The number of people in their 50s who have under 100k saved for retirement is scary.

100k is a lot of money sir. How would you expect someone who's been working 30 years to have saved 2000 a year and make 3-4% on it?

I'm a financial advisor and it never ceases to amaze me how little the average person understands basic things like retirement plans.  Well over half the people I talk to have no idea how a Roth IRA works.  And it's not just working class folks.  There are plenty of all-the-way-wealthy folks who leave their money in cash and CD's because they don't know what else to do with it.  It bottles the mind.

Just want to point out that if you are getting yelled at out in Oakley Kansas, where the last Democrat that was voted for President locally was FDR’s first term, and Carter was the last to crack 40%, and the last to exceed 21% was Dukakis in a bad drought year, shits going to get bad.

So he'll get primaried and they'll elect someone worse.
