The Astros have played 139 games this season. Bregman has played in 136 of those games. Unless I miscounted, Bregman has failed to reach base in only ten games. Ten. That is incredible.

Those are mvp numbers, although I doubt he wins. Martinez has that sewn up I'm guessing.

He would have obliterated the "most consecutive games reaching base" record if not for a game against Texas at the end of July and a game against KC in June.  He would be approaching 100 games here this week.

i didn't say anything was a sure thing or "in the bag", i just put my opinion of the mindset of an a's fan.

get over it.

Except for this part

take one or two in boston, and it's all over but the crying.

i meant in terms of their positioning to make a run, but sure, i also agree that would just about do it.

but feel free to twist my words into a context that upsets you.  it would only be the 2nd time this week.

I hope we clinch against the Angels, Sunday the 23rd. Last regular season home game

I’ve been projecting this for a few weeks now.
Would require growing our current lead by 4 games over the next 16 games
Not inconceivable.

Tried to edit but too late...growing current lead by 4 games over the next 16 won’t be easy with how the schedules line up.
9 of the A’s next 16 are against the Rangers, O’s and Twins.
9 of the Astros next 16 are against the Red Sox, D-Backs and M’s

(If the A’s play .500 over that stretch, the Astros would have to win 12 of 16)

I do think the A’s rotation woes and innings piling up on their relievers are about to catch up to them, but we may be clinching north of the border.
A Bregman bomb off Giles in the 9th with Osuna closing out the bottom of the inning would be fitting.

Framber’s lack of control will hold him back. We might see a big dose of Deetz tonight.

Edit: Of course, he gets out of trouble with a DP. He seems to have a knack for that. Until he doesn’t.
