If Giles were to develop a blister or pull a groin or something, and Brad had to start closing a game here or there...well, maybe we'd somehow survive.

I think it’s telling that AJ left Peacock in there instead of bringing in Giles.

Or they could let him continue to pitch for multiple, high leverage innings, which is much more valuable.

Absolutely. The Astros have been a little sloppy closing out a couple games so far, and with how hard it was to get a lead in this one, no point risking the W by getting cute. Giles will keep getting his chances, no doubt.

Great to know the guy can do both. There's not a huge sample size to go off, but at this point, I trust Peacock more than Devo as an alternate closer.

Damn I was looking at the schedule to see what time we played tonight, and it just ended. At least we won.

you know what this means - now you can't watch until we lose. so, you're fucked

i'm down for hinch managing by feel and not like a freaking robot.  the closer doesn't need to come in for just the 9th every save situation.  peacock was in, rested, and throwing darts.  i'm sure giles was ready if/when we needed him.  but we didn't.  that's how hinch managed in the postseason, and i'm fine with him doing it now.  as far as i'm concerned, we have 3-4 guys who are capable of getting out #27.  giles is one of them.

we got a day off tomorrow, and everyone will be available on friday.  if peacock needs an extra day, he gets it.

This is the correct answer.

This is kind of random, but has anyone noticed that McTaggart has been... different on Twitter?  He still posts his usual stuff, but he's also been really snarky, and not in an endearing way, this year at times.

Soooo kinda like our fan base?

We need to give Giles a few opportunities at middle relief. If he is not effective, we need to cut him.

day drinking is the best because you get your hangover out of the way before work the next day

If that's the case then you're not drinking enough

Speaking of texags, Liucci was on the same flight as me to Atlanta this morning. Looks like an even bigger douche in person..

Did you not show the cock gif to him as you walked by?

Crazy that Crane is being so generous with the rings.  It’s awesome though.  I was around him a lot with my last job.  Truly a mean, miserable, asshole with Cal Ripken-like consistency.

He’s been this way for quite a while, now. Tends to whine a bit, too, about to the daily grind of doing what’s essentially his job. His constant, insecure UH homerism can be a beat down, too, but he’s still a very good beat writer and consistently delivers great content, so I put up with it.

A lot of beat writers tend to be like this. Not sure if it’s the grind of the job or it’s the job that just happens to attract this personality type.

Ugly game but a win is a win.  Glad to see Reddick’s confidence is back with a 3 for 4 line at the plate.

He had a fairly good game last night too.

That was inferred.  It wasn’t a fluke, nobody did shit today but he was the reason again.  Confidence is back.

I don’t think he lost his confidence after 2 hitless games. Y’all act like he went 0fer a week.

He had a rough playoffs also.

He damn near went 0 for a postseason.

The Astros World Series run had so many great memories and so many heroes with clutch hits off of seemingly invincible closers that some great moments get forgotten. Like Reddick's hit off of Kimbrel in ALDS Game 4. Underrated highlight from last year.

Hmmm. Can you think of a couple of Astros of who damn near went 0 for 6 postseasons?

Hint: They are both newly elected Hall of Famers.

Off days suck....

Am I actually going to have to quality time with my kids tonight?

Are you implying that watching the Astros with your kids is not quality time??

Alcala on the mound tonight for Buies Creek should be interesting to watch with the big league club having the day off.  Although they signed him out of the DR for practically nothing, he has the best fastball of any current prospect (topping out at 102).
