DALLAS — Two people are dead after a car crash that left a McLaren sports car split in half, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

Police said officers responded to the crash in the 8500 block of Abrams Road in Lake Highlands around 3:10 p.m. on Monday.

According to DFR, the McLaren struck a tree, killing both people inside and splitting the car in two. After the crash, the two deceased were inaccessible to first responders, DFR said, so a heavy rescue response was dispatched.

One person from the other car was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries, per DFR.

WFAA chopper footage captured images of the damaged luxury sports car, which appears to be a McLaren 570S.

I wonder what salvage will have to pay for that front end.  I bet it still pulls big bucks if the engine is not damaged.

acceptable answers:

1.) About tree-fidey

2.) Half price

Someone made the wrong split second decision.

That McLaren, like most supercars, is a mid-engine car. The engine is probably wrapped around the occupants against the tree.

Same thing happened years ago in Barton Hills, of all places. A far less exotic vehicle split when it careened into a neighbor’s front yard and tagged a tree. Somehow 1 of 3 survived without lasting injury. RIP Andrew and the gal driving.

You win that bet. I once helped my brother-in-law load up a Lincoln Town Car - well, half of one - that had been hit from the back by a Semi and destroyed up to the back of the front seat. I mean, folded up and fucking destroyed, nothing left, out on IH 40 west of Amarillo, a few hours before we went after it. He had bought it off the Insurer, sight unseen, for about $4500. I was incredulous, and he explained that it was only a few months old and had under 10K on the odometer. He started naming off the salvage value of the hood, grill, bumper, engine, etc. I stopped him when he got to $9,000 worth. It was a pretty good payback for about three hours worth of work. The McLaren half gonna be worth some bucks, no doubt.

I have friend that is an airplane mechanic (A&P) that drives all over the country side buying crashed single engine planes.  He too does well, but it takes about 3-6 months of tinkering time at nights and on weekends.

Is that a red interior or blood? Or both?

In Fort Worth back in the 80's a water truck ran into the Campus street bridge on 820 in south FW. It caused the bridge to collapse and it fell on a woman driving a Citation. Instead of trying to stop, she accelerated through it and the entire bridge landed right behind the drivers seat, smashing the back half of the car flat. I've searched for the picture for years and couldn't find it.

If only I was intrepid(read fat) enough to travel with a back up can of Easy Cheese.   Mistakes were made.
