Yes they did refuse to confirm because they could do so because they had the power to do so. If the Democrats had the power to do the same to Kavanaugh so be it. Bully on them. The Republicans didn’t pull out some flimsy accusation to hurl shit against the wall.

It's probably true.

Ahh, I see. It's the flavor of dirt you disagree with.

Yes, they’re desperate.

At this point it seems like the Republicans are desperate to get Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court without much transparency or rigorous vetting/scrutiny.

All Americans should demand better from their leaders than what is currently going on with Trump/Kavanaugh/Congress.

What, only one side gets to play the game?

The issue I have is that there's won't be an end to it, and I think we all know it.

If for some reason Kavanaugh doesn't get confirmed because the Democrats take control and decide not to confirm, it's not like there's going to be this big "OK guys, we're even now (for Garland), let's get back to being civil with appointments" moment.

After posting her recollection of the days following the party, Cristina King apparently felt like she was going to get the same social media treatment that Ford got. Interesting that WaPo and CNN want to talk to her ...

This whole thing is terrible for the Republicans. It can't be over soon enough. Every day that goes by makes it worse.

Monday is gonna rule.

Does Monday happen if she doesn't show?

I am not sure 6hrs of:

Corey Booker:  When did you stop raping women?

Kavanaugh: I didn't

Booker:  AH- Haaaa!!!!!

Plays all that well.

Kavanaugh on defense getting pummeled by Democrats plays great.

His numbers suck as it is.

Nothing is going to happen Monday unless Dr. Ford has a change of heart.

The Monday deadline was to buy time and reduce the political damage.

If Dr. Ford shows up to testify, don’t be shocked if they postpone or even pull Kavanaugh.

Also, if Dr. Ford is planning on testifying Monday, this is the way to do it.  Don’t let them know you’re coming in to answer questions until the last possible moment.

I'm still stunned that the Democrats are showing competency at politics.

This is brutal for the GOP no matter what happens. The optics are awful.

Fineswine sat it on for months solely to sabotage this nomination at the last second and that is exactly how it is playing out.  She wants this nomination to sink and wants to make sure the nomination has to go through after the mid-terms.  That is the only reason she sat on it IMHO.

You're full of shit.

Why has this woman backtracked from her commitment to testify before the committee? She is conveniently hiding and trying to escape the heat, scrutiny and scorn that such a flimsy accusation deserves.

She's willing to talk to the FBI.  Are Kav and Judge forthcoming with talking to the FBI ?

If they aren't, is it because lying to the FBI is a felony ?  FBI is certainly more likely to do something about it than these gop senators.

I don’t think so, I believe they’re going to proceed now that she is backing out.

You won't know if she's really backing out until Monday.

That's four and a half days for more people to come forward, for more reporting.

This is not good for Brett Kavanaugh. He's politically toxic right now and that is terrible for the GOP.

Kavanaugh is prepping for her to show up, so he certainly won’t be caught off guard. As of now, Ford is passing on her opportunity.

Soms girl got date raped in high school, that must mean that this coward’s story about Kavanaugh is true!!! According to the esteemed Senator from Hawaii all of us men are collectively guilty.

Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono blasted “the men in this country,” blaming them for sexual assault and urged them to “just shut up and step up” amid allegations of misconduct against President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

The Democrats don’t realize they are stoking a huge backlash by the dominant players in American society, white men, who are going to show their disgust with this farce in the voting booth

It’s really quite a conundrum. If there really is an allegation, you certainly want to know what really happened before you cast a vote. But if she will not talk to authorities about it or have most of the relevant details, what do you do? Kavanaugh is entitled due process and the timing is highly suspect. But what if it is true?

Unless something changes I am not sure you can do anything else other than proceed with the vote. Perhaps a local criminal investigation to follow and he gets thrown off if it’s true?

It’s a situation where you could either trample on someone’s due process or potentially nominate a bad actor.

Oh, white men don't drive elections, sweetie. They make up about 30% of the population.
