Brett Kavanaugh Confirmation Thread

Yes, but after 36 years, we are left with he said, she said and I don't see how we can pretend that is enough.
I just saw a lot more reason to believe her and think he was lying. He did not come across as a guy being forthright at any point in this process. And I don't see how she gives that testimony if it's a lie. I can see how he could. He has every reason to lie and clearly feels entitled to a Supreme Court seat.

I’m getting my hopes up, which you should never do in politics. Thought Graham and Kavanaugh brought their A game today.

I'm getting my hopes up, which I should never do, Chrispy, along with Johnny Sack, EMAWhatthefuckever, Dolemite, and others would be more comfortable posting on Baylorfans, the website more comfortable with covering up rape and blaming victims while protecting criminals.

He won't.  Trump won't go down.  They'll lift the sanctions on Russia and they'll get their peeps elected in return.  That's all it takes.  Trump can do whatever he wants with the case, fire Rosenstein and do a little dance on tv while he's doing it.  It will not matter.   Unfortunately, it's not going to get better than Rosenstein and Mueller and if they don't get it done, good luck. But bullies don't stop bullying and Putin has already shown that he owns US politicians.  He'll just hit elsewhere.

Trump is going down in NY state in 2021 or 2025.  His whole family is going down with him if they dont move to Russia first. Clock is ticking.  He has bought a lot of southern politicians. He has bought 0 politicians in the city where he has engaged in decades of illegal business activity. Ted Cruz cant save him.

Even though he doesn’t speak in court, Thomas isnt stupid.  He can see the possibility (not certainty) of a Dem president from 2020-2028.    He may not want to be a justice until he’s 80+.  Instead  he could very well decide to retire within the next 2 years if the gop can retain the senate this year.

No one is leaving the court in their 70’s(barring health issue).

If THAT hot, screaming, pants shitting mess displayed today was Graham’s “A game”, I shudder to think what his D game looks like.

He looked like and sounded like a deranged muppet from a community theater production of “The Crucible”.

Fuck him.

It was a rehearsed set piece and it was one of the funniest thing I've ever seen go down in Congress.

Feinstein didn’t believe her.  Had she, she would have used the procedure for a confidential investigation.  Not sat on it.

This is really hard to argue against.  I'm not convinced yet the Republicans win. Never underestimate their general cowardice.  Flake's got nothing to lose, and will have a nice gig waiting for him at CNN or elsewhere as the Republican criticizing Republicans if he votes no. Murkowski can forget getting re-elected if she votes no. But her or Collins could still defect.  And I'm sure there will be 42 new allegations tomorrow alleging Satan worship and baby sacrifice, or God knows what.

I found Ford to be credible, which surprised me.  I found Kavenaugh's denials credible as well. At the end of the day, if these tactics win, we all lose.  Finestein should have brought this up during the hearing. Most of the Senators have a past, and I doubt if they want to be held responsible for whatever happened at every party they attended 30 years ago, or try to defend themselves against such old allegations that can't possibly be conclusively disproven.  If Kavenaugh is confirmed, it will be a vote against such tactics as much as anything else.

What is wrong with you?   I can’t imagine my wife or any of her friends posting on a college football message board, even if it was her alma mater.  Yet here you are.   Some upper middle-aged foul mouthed lady posting on a board of a team yours never plays.  Sounds like a real happy marriage there

Not surprisingly, everyone's reality is completely determined by their politics.

The MAGA-crowd think BK "killed it"; everyone else thinks he's a lying attempted rapist.

Nail. Head. We need our politicians to get past this non-stop battle of supremacy.

You're assuming they don't make it so that Federal pardons cover state as well.  That's another big assumption and a really nice, gift wrapped Scooby Doo moment.

Actually, a lot of the tribes in Alaska are against Kavanaugh.  They've informed her that they won't support her if she votes yes.

Or she’s just wrong.  All sorts of studies out there about old memories and rheir reliability.   She named witnesses.  They don’t support her allegations.

Or he lied about his drinking and has drank to the point of blacking out and does not remember that night because he was drunk. Why is everyone saying they believe her but she must be mistaken about who it was and no one is saying they believe he’s telling truth as he knows it but he probably blacked out and doesn’t remember?

Her friend said she doesn’t remember that party but she believes Ford. She didn’t say it didn’t happen. Why would she remember a party from 30 years go.

And you’re a disgusting, spoiled misogynistic punk with a silver spoon up his ass.

Go fuck yourself. I’m sure no women are willing to.

I’m sure I wouldn’t touch you with a ten foot pole.  I have a mental picture of an older lady from Alabama with a foul mouth that spends half her day on a University or Texas message board.  You aren’t mentally stable.  Get some help. And maybe talk to your husband instead of posting on this board.

no go back and tell  us what the GOP senators said about any Obama nominee.

President Barack Obama made two successful appointments to the Supreme Court of the United States. The first was Judge Sonia Sotomayor[1] to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice David H. Souter.[2] Sotomayor was confirmed by the United States Senate on August 6, 2009, by a vote of 68–31. The second appointment was that of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to replace the retired John Paul Stevens. Kagan was confirmed by the United States Senate on August 5, 2010, by a vote of 63–37.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_Supreme_Court_candidates

Sotomayor was confirmed in 2009. The Senate at that time was 57 Dems - 2 Independents -and 41 Republicans. 1 vacant.  She got 68 votes. That means at least 9 Repugs voted for her.

Kagan was confirmed in 2010 and the Senate was 51-2-47 for the dems. That means she got 10 Repugs votes.

How many Dems do you think will vote for Kavanaugh next week?

I don't see them passing a constitutional amendment any time soon, so that isn't gonna happen.

you need to study up on that.  It's in the courts now, and a certain old, white senator has filed a friend-of-court brief on the matter.

This foul mouthed woman has attacked me plenty.  I think she’s a mental case.  She’s an older lady from Alabama with a very foul mouth who likes the positive attention she gets on a Texas message board.  She’s got problems.

Graham....I’ve never seen a Southern dandy throw such an enormous hissy fit over a woman before. Not that I’ve seen that many in my life, but that was amazing.

Take the names and political parties out of the equation and weigh the facts
-zero information on the incident
- zero witnesses
-36 years have passed before an accusation was made
- accusation wasn’t to the police but to her preferred politics.
This would be given the credibility of a comment card at a restaurant.

This.  They guy clearly vomited and passed out in his friend's car.  That's why he completely ignored that question and instead blasted his friend for being an alcoholic.  He lied about terms in his yearbook.  The guy is a fucking liar.

The thing is that all this would have gone by quick if he just said, "Yeah, I used to get fucked up in high school.  I'm not proud of it.  I did some things I regret.  I may have done other things that I don't remember.  I'm not that high school kid anymore, and I'm truly sorry for anyone I may have hurt back then."

Instead, he's a fucking liar who doubles down on being an asshole, makes up Clintonesque definitions for words, and obfuscates even where it isn't necessary.  Its that propensity to lie that makes me think that he both attempted to rape Ford and remembers it.

Yeah, and a lot of Trump supporters are letting her know they won't support her if she votes no.  I don't think she is going to alienate 45% of her voters.  But really, who knows?

If they were upset with the GOP leadership and wanted a reboot of the party, voting BK in could potentially do it.  Pyrrhic victory and all.

The Dems now have a complete playbook for 2018 and 2020. Lots of juicy issues for getting women out to vote, from taking little kids away from their moms to this.

No they don't because they haven't.  We keep applying common sense to a reality where that is applicable - which is where? Because that's where I want to live. Unlike where I currently live where a TV doofus that filed for bankruptcy and dodged the draft multiple times is the commander in chief.  A man that said he didn't know any Russians, porn stars and grabbed women by the pussy is President.  A man that backed Nazis, a pedophile and admitted to walking into dressing rooms of pageants he owned and seeing women in various stages of undress which is great news when he also ran a Miss Teen USA.  Is this enough because there's more and he's creating more shit daily.
