No Democrat is going to be the 50th vote on this guy. Not a chance in hell.

This is what I think as well.  Just as no Republican wants to be out on a limb as the 51st no vote.

One week my ass. We'll get to the end of the week, and the Democrats will want to reopen the hearing so we can discuss high school yearbook entries.

this,  no way in hell anything is resolved in a week.  Unless the FBI uncovers Bretts secret rape journal and pile of used gangbang rubbers.

Voted out of committee but Flake is a no without investigation and definitely won't flop again and please note the furrowedness of my brow for the history books for the future kids.

They got an "assurance" from Mitch who is well known for keeping his promises in exchange for yes votes.....

Do they even have that?   I thought they just have Flake as a no vote on the floor unless the FBI gets a week.

I put the odds of virtually no corroborating evidence coming from the investigation at 10:1 which will give the fence sitters cover for voting yes.  He'll be confirmed in a week.

Who investigates perjury?

Mitch would have called for a vote immediately after it got passed out of committee if both of the ladies were yes votes.

Do you think the Republican majority of the committee should have been aware and prepared? Say what you want about Ford's accusations, but the yearbook and his history of gambling, hard-drinking, debt, and his rape-y yearbook/past were around beforehand.

I don't know how all of that didn't come up in the original FBI investigations.  It sounds like the dems didn't take a big part in the previous investigations of him.  I don't know how true that is.

Like I said, I don't think he should be a supreme court judge do to the apparent lies and question dodging.

So we may never know what happened because it was 35 years ago, but you would definitely remember every person at any function with 6 people in your life even if it was 35 years ago. That's absurd.

For the record, I oppose Kavanaugh because he's a proven liar and perjured himself. He certainly shouldn't be convicted of sexual assault based on what we know now, but even without that ironclad knowledge he lied under oath to the Senate. Such a person should not be on the Supreme Court.

And I agree with you 100%, except the not knowing someone.  I guess that is possible for some people, but I am 5 years younger and I remember small get togethers.  Everyones long term memory is different though.

This gives Ramirez and the Yalies a chance to testify about his drinking lies. Debbie's story is more plausable with several eye witness accounts of his excessive drinking. He should have owned up to it as youthful indiscretion. The lying might get him afterall.

the best thing for the country is for Kavanaugh to take the victory that the committee passed him onto a larger vote, and then withdraw his nomination.  Then Trump can nominate someone else, who will easily win 51-49.  everyone can call it a win.

best thing for the country is trump doesn't get to pick a nominee

It's out of committee, so I don't think there will be any more testimony.   They might talk to the FBI, though. No way McConnell sends this back to committee.  He'd just pull the nomination at that point.

The real question is how many more credible allegations emerge on Kavanaugh over the next week?

Which is why he needs to be pulled two weeks ago.

Yep.  I think more women and former classmates would be willing to step up now since they get to speak to professional FBI agents and not have Lindsey Graham and Chuck Grassley scream at them.

I will bet zero.

Now we probably get more Rhode Island boat accusations and maybe some more false affidavits.

do you think Mark Judge will answer any question with more than, "I don't recall"?

If I were Mark Judge, I'd go into hiding. He may end up in a pine box before this all said and done.

Any particular reason y'all think he shouldn't simply be forthright and honest if he's asked questions as part of the investigation?

And any nerd that keeps a calendar from 1982 probably keeps his used gangbang rubbers in the bedside table drawer.

When pressed by men in black?

We might find out.

I've done quite a few federal criminal cases. FBI 302s tend to look a lot different than self serving affidavits or not remembering anything.

Yeah, why would she?

Nelson, McCaskill, Tester and Donnelly are just as vulnerable and voting no.  Some things are way more important than re-election.  Not that a Republican would know what that entails.

For the dems in red states I don't see how voting yes helps them.  They're going to need women voters to win.  Pissing them off, many of whom have been the victims of assault, by voting for Kavanaugh is just going to depress their vote.  Meanwhile, the Trumpkins who think Graham and Kavanaugh are profiles in courage for screaming about their victimization are not going to vote for a dem no matter what.

There's always been less upside in voting against the nominees than voting for.

Donnelly and McCaskill need big-city turnout in Indianapolis and St. Louis to win their races.

Manchin and Heitkamp and Tester are always about their independence in being a check in Trump WHEN NECESSARY.

Anyone want to wager on the next Dem demand.

Special Counsel Investigation????

That would wrap up around 2032.

They aren't going to go beyond this. This is it. It's a reasonable ask. Republicans would be wise to go along. It probably gets him confirmed.

What does it matter?   Republicans are driving this entire process, including this delay (specifically, Flake and probably Collins).

THE. NOMINATION. PASSED. OUT. OF. COMMITTEE. WITH. A. MAJORITY.

There's no more stalling for the Democrats.  Mitch will call a vote when he has the votes.   Any delay after next Friday is a lack of votes.

Anyone want to wager on the next stupid thing you say?

If he doesn't recall then that is forthright and honest.

Of course leftist will say he should have perfect recall.

This thread is hard to keep up with. I'm a few pages back so please forgive if already answered. FTR, I don't know if I believe her story to be accurate, but i know i don't believe him. I'm hoping a damning detail emerges so we can punt Bart.

However, since these are being cited as the "100% lies", how are we certain about Bart lying about "devils triangle" and "boof"? Did Judge define them in his book? Were they defined in BK's yearbook? Regardless of the modern day definitions, who knows what they meant in '82, especially in particular teenage social circles. While i believe he lied, i doubt he provably perjured himself.

Today you will be accused of a sexual assault, by a person you don't know, on a day and a month and a year that cannot be pinpointed on a calendar, corroborated by 4 people that say the event never happened, your buddy that accompanied you in the assault says it didn't happen.

Now, open your wallet, go lawyer up, prove you're innocent, and come back and tell us how much you liked paying someone(s) to clear your innocent name.

You think it's forthright and honest to say that you can't recall absolutely anything about your life in high school and college? Your post implied your belief (and approval) of his answering every question with "I don't recall." Why would you think he should answer every question that way?

He could have asked the FBI to investigate for free. Also, you've got some factual lies in there.

Might depend on how deep they will investigate.    Who's to say his attorney will let him answer FBI questions especially if he may have participated in some less than stellar behavior.  Judge pleading the 5th would blow this up.
