Brett Kavanaugh Confirmation Thread

Flake still wants to be president. He was in a tough spot and thinks he figured out a way to navigate through it. In the end he has to confirm BK to someday get his party’s nomination. This all amounts to a moral victory at best.

Move seen the transformation of Pub voters in my social circle. Folks who absolutely HATED Trump now parrot every idiotic thing he says. They don’t care about our truth and have no clue what they’re supporting at this point. They’ve bent the knee and there’s no going back.

They have gerrymandered maps, voter suppression laws and confined Russian interference on their side. We have emotional pleas about past abuse in an elevator to kleptocrats who don’t give a shit on ours.

One week to placate the media and then they’ll be right back to dismantling the Republic.

No disagreement here. There's so much cynicism and political opportunism and so little interest in seeking the truth. But the reality is also that BK could have been pushed through last week and he wasn't. After a week of begging for an FBI investigation, we have one. The Democratic Senators and all of their political theatre couldn't get it done. Protesters shouting and being escorted out couldn't get it done. People speaking the truth got it done.

There's a certain nihilism showing up here that the left needs to match all of the dirty moves the right has been pulling. Since the rules don't matter anymore, you might as well play to win, right? How many lectures has Brisket given us that nothing matters anymore? At least for one week, the truth actually mattered.

The only people standing in the way of Brett Kavanaugh and the Supreme Court are Republicans.

Think about that.

LOL, yes, that's what we need.  More people at the top looking after their own interests...won't more people think of us poor millionaires?  GFY

Watch some CNN and MSNBC. Hear how many of their commentators mention Kav’s race and privilege and how both should be negatives against him. That’s what the progressive left has in store with “intersectionality”. I will never support a party that actively encourages supporters of bs like that no matter how “bad” the Republican Party becomes. Jews, traditional allies of the left, have been made to feel unwelcome by the woke leftists because of their support of Israel. I have always considered myself as part of the majority despite my ethnic background. My interests are more firmly aligned than ever with the Republican Party. The best thing about is that we might not proclaim it loudly or think we are cool as fuck for having the right candidate’s t-shirt or yard sign displayed. The strength is shown at the voting booth and I appreciate the Republican Party trying to consolidate and hold on to power by any means necessary. That’s why getting Kavanaugh confirmed is worth whatever losses we suffer in November. Janus was huge and will help us get the power of public sector unions and their Democratic allies. I’m hoping a stacked SC provides us with Republican wins like that in the future.

Ah but the Left responding in kind with any means necessary is revolting to you.

No offense but those rednecks fit pretty much every stereotype out there for rural dudes.  I was hoping it was something different.  That's just cliff notes for those that don't want to make their eyes bleed with your link.  And that perspective is from someone who has spent time growing up in West Texas / Oklahoma...as in I'm not some cityslicker who doesn't get it.

Garlanding him would have been fine with me. Attacking the man’s character on what I consider to be a bs charge is going too far but it is straight out of Ted Kennedy’s Borking playbook.

So what?  You're rich, you have every advantage out there... Deal with a little adversity yourself, might do you some good.  Fucking snowflake.

And your Jews line is funny...I guarantee you I live around and do more business with Jews than you ever will.  Trying to put them all in your bucket is funny.

So Flake says on 60 Minutes tonight that if Kavanaugh lied on Thursday he should be done.

Hello?

Boof?

Devil’s Triangle?

Alcohol never caused him to “Ralph?”

Et cetera, et cetera.

I fully expect Flake to vote yes with a very furrowed brow.

I wish I weren’t so cynical.

The politics board of Surly is farther left than any message board that I frequent.

It was interesting how both Flake and Coons didn't equivocate that lying to the committee would mean no confirmation.

Of course, they can't control that, but they can control their own votes.  Coons is an obvious "no" barring exonerating evidence of assault AND no evidence of perjury.  Flake is a likely "yes", because Flake, but now he's at least on public record that perjury would mean Kavanaugh would not be confirmed.  (This doesn't mean a "no" vote, again, because Flake.)

How is perjury determined?  What is the enforcement protocol for lying under oath to congress?

Narrator:  They hadn't.

(And you'll see that when we get the midterm demographic numbers in a few weeks).

"There isn’t anything credible about her statement or the Dems “questioning”. This is nothing more than a circus that is resulting in character assignation."

Wow, some top shelf dialogue over there. Found that on the first page amidst a fair bit of misogyny and victim blaming. I bet 8mofo would love if

Interesting how most of the Rs on the committee tried very hard not to say perjury.

It was mostly "Under penalty of felony, Mark Judge sent us a statement signed by his lawyer blah blah blah"

Why is that shameful? The last time I checked, Israel is a nation state and Judaism is a religion. You can be a good Jew and oppose Israeli policy.

The number of Jews who fit in that category is much smaller than the number of Jewish Republicans.   The vast majority of American Jews don't fit in either category and are not represented by Mark Levin.

Flake is a total douche. I haven’t watched 60 minutes, but I’m guessing that was his attempt to make himself look better before voting yes. Maybe he’s worried about his safety?  I would be if I were him

both sides will have enough time to cash in on this before anything hits the fan. imo, the guy has serious alcohol issues and i doubt the fbi will out that. if something does pop up, both sides will cash in on the next nominee.

Oh poor Brett having his character attacked. I wonder if you have the same sympathies for the women he attacked?

Still defending Robert Bork somehow. You’re a joke dude

I was about to make a shitty comment about "not technically a rapist" as being good enough for the supreme court, but instead I'm going to focus back on the actual facts of how he was just sitting in front of the Senate on Thursday lying his ass off about stupid shit.

right, and even if those old men on the committee have no idea what those terms mean, you know their staffers do. So, if the staffers say, you know, Kavanaugh was lying about not knowing about devils triangle, FFFFFF, etc., the GOP senators are just going to shrug it off, which is really quite sad and tragic. Blatantly lying and they don't seem to give a shit, because GO TEAM.

Even the "Renate Alumni" weak ass explanation? come on. Fess up, say it was stupid, but dont insult our intelligence.

Kavanaugh couldnt sack up and tell the truth and explain that he was a dumb high school kid. Instead he lied. He lied his ass off.

and at least 10 Senators dont care.
