It's Texas State. They haven't.

Kinda have.  15-10 vs ranked teams the last 3+ years.

But yeah, not everyone is a blue blood that doesn't dogpile.  Some of us have to take a lot from every big win.

Apparently it was pretty full (think ticket office website said it was pretty close to sold out) but after Bobcats put up the 5 spot in the 3rd and another run in the 5th with no response aggy faithful started to filter out:

Eh, maybe act like you've been there before.

If you are Texas State? No. Enjoy this shit, you don't know when it will happen again.

It ain't classless*.  Stop sterilizing college sports.

You beat #1, on their turf, fucking go for it.

At this point with us, it's not even a matter of class anymore. It's a matter of originality.

Also, if you don't want it done to you, don't lose by 4 runs as the #1 team.

You don't have to go far. 2 pearl-clutchers just on this page.

If you’re referring to me, the first part of my post was just the set up for the punchline about loving to see it. You and GJ Whinny appeared to be a couple rookie fuckwads that can’t take a joke.

Well I meant from aggy, who think horns down is great and don’t have the mental fortitude to connect the two.

In guess there will also be them what claim the thumbs down is proof that they matter because it’s a big deal to beat them.  Same  intellectual issue there.

Okay baseball gurus.  Aggy has a round robin in Houston this weekend vs some bad teams.  AZ, Okie light, and Rice.  IF they sweep, what will they fall to in the rankings? What if they drop one?

I think it is traditional to not drop teams in the rankings until they lose a series, but losing your Tuesday game will probably drop them even if they end up sweeping this weekend.

They have been a good program for a while.

Um...you sure?

They had a good team in 2022. Yes. One that could have gone to Omaha but they blew it.

But besides that? They had a losing record last year. 2022 is their only trip to the Regionals in over a decade. They aren't that good. Having one good team does not make you a good program.

I don't think the Tuesday game will do it by itself, but dropping the game before to Cal Poly won't help.

Cal Poly baseball has beaten three Division 1 teams ranked #1 in program history.

Texas State baseball has beaten three Division 1 teams ranked #1 in program history.

They both have beaten #1 Texas A&M...and they did it within 3 days of one another.

Right. I was saying they weren't going to drop by losing one out of three to Cal Poly, but doing that plus losing the Tuesday game will probably drop them.

Also I haven't watched any of their games, but it sounds like the aggy fans haven't been impressed by any game so far. So maybe some of yall who have watched can say if they've just looked bad all around or not.

SEC. Preseason. Coach. Of. The. Year!

Advantage aggy.

I had that thread loaded up and ready to go and then the bottom fell out of our bullpen.

I thought better of posting it on the game thread, it's great though.

The downfall of the Rice baseball program is a shame. I’m assuming Pierce will be coaching there next year but they may be at the point where the issues go a lot deeper than just coaching (no NIL, can rarely take transfers/JUCO kids because of academic requirements, etc)

From what I’ve been told, by people that would absolutely know, he and his wife are very happy in Austin, and not looking to leave. He is also very happy not having to deal with the all the things about running a program. I would not be surprised if he stays at TxSt for the foreseeable future. But who knows for sure.
