Ole Miss just lost to Little Rock 7-3.  They made the final out on an 80-grade TOOTBLAN -- a caught stealing at 2nd.

For those wondering:

An 80-grade tool in baseball scouting represents an elite skill, exceeding even a 70-grade tool, which is considered outstanding. The 20-80 scouting scale is used to evaluate player abilities, with 50 representing average and 80 representing the highest possible grade.

Here's a breakdown:
  • 80-Grade: Represents the highest possible grade, indicating a truly elite and exceptional tool.

  • 70-Grade: A very high grade, indicating a standout skill well above average.

  • 20-80 Scale: Used to evaluate player skills and tools, with 50 being average and grades above 50 indicating above-average ability.

Example: An 80-grade fastball might reach 100 mph with excellent control, while a 70-grade fastball might reach 98 mph with good control.

But, what is a TOOTBLAN?

Feels like every recent projection I've seen has us not getting the most favorable pairings that you'd think a 1 would get. Oh well no matter what they'll probably do us dirty. Just gotta win baby.

This high school team in California-Corona has 6 dudes committed to SEC schools, although 2 of them are gonna get drafted top 10 and skip college. When I watched them an uncommitted sophomore lefty dominated for them on the mound. This fucking lineup

1. CF LSU committ. Jr. Dreads. Leads team in slg%

2. 1B/P/OF Auburn commit.

3. 3B/SS LSU commit probable top 100 pick

4. Seth Hernandez Vandy commit. Top 5 pick

5. 2B/SS Aggy commit. Jr

6. SS Billy Carlson. Tennesee commit. Top 10 Pick

7. 1B Creighton commit

Lowell is the ONLY reason I don’t miss the LHN.

Hook’em!!!

I miss the pitcher-catcher battery of Zeke & Zonk calling baseball games more than anything else that was on LHN.

Is that Lowell climaxing after the Laviolette bomb?

Yep... Unfortunately. He was so caught up in his charlatan act that he falsely yelled, "The Aggies have won 8-straight SEC games."

Again, we can’t play the 5 top teams because we are one of them, Bill. Also we can’t help it if aggy rapidly descended to the lower half of the league despite starting out so high. Or Florida.

but, we only run ruled Missouri once. So how good could we really be?

A lot of humor in Billy talking about how easy it is to win at home while having the 3rd worst record at home in the SEC, ahead of only Missouri and Kentucky (who took 2/3 in College Station)

When aggy gets swept at home by Alabama, gets swept on the road against Vanderbilt, loses 2 of 3 at home to Kentucky, it kind of just blows Luicci’s argument.

aggy 3-0 top of 1st first game of DH.

Arkansas is not good.   Their Friday starter has an ERA of 5.57 (conference) which is lowest for starters.   Their success has been because of hitting .332 and fielding .984. and thus far playing the weaker members of the conference.   Texas, LSU. and Tenn coming up.

That said,  sorry aggys have found their stride.

They swept Vandy in Nashville, took 2/3 against Ole Miss in Oxford, and beat TCU in non-conference play. Arkansas might be overrated, but “is not good” is not accurate.

A&M’s roster still has a ton of talent and they’re healthy now. They shouldn’t be an SEC bottom dweller and won’t be by the end of the season. If they take this series at Arkansas, I’ll believe they have it going like they should. However, I also believe their coaching staff still negatively impacts their sheer roster talent.

Touche.    Should have specified pitching but did credit their hitting and fielding.    Emotions seeing aggy jump to a 3-0 lead affected my reply.

Sir, this is Surly. Emotionally stable and self-responsible replies are outlawed here.

Jared Spencer has a 4.88 ERA in conference play. There is a lot more to evaluating pitching than ERA. No one on this board who has watched Texas would say Jared Spencer is our worst pitcher and yet right now the only one with a worse ERA in conference play is Dre.

Arkansas lost a weekend starter two weeks into the season in Gage Wood who I believe they will get back soon. Caden Sorrell lengthened A&M’s lineup and has protected Kiel, LaViolette, and Henseler. A&M is a pretty dangerous team now. Combine talent with a group that has convinced themselves they are playing with house money and they have as good a shot as anybody. Thought they were dead after Kentucky.

Nothing overrated about Arkansas, A&M has just finally woken up and are playing like the team everybody thought they were before the season.
