That UGA sweep isn't looking so good at this point.

At this point, it's looking like something we should have done, and we did.

It is not our fault when the SEC cannibalizes itself after we win a series against a team.  Just like in football.

Also Georgia rode high early because their first 3 series were Kentucky, Auburn and Florida, before getting swept by Texas (no shame in that, we are leading the league), winning 2/3 versus Arky (nice bounceback) and getting swept at Vandy (5th in the league).

OU is 6th in the league, they ain't no slouch.

Teams will just feed on the Kentucky, aggy, Mizzou, Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, MSST portions of their schedule.

Santa Clara ended up sucking. The pitcher who more or less shut us down in the Sunday game pitched well against the Beavers and shut out USF (not So. Florida), but hasn't been too great otherwise.

Much like SEC football, I am of the opinion that SEC baseball's reputation is a bit overinflated, and the conference benefits from those lingering high rankings as the season goes along.

Not near as many mid to upper 90s fastball guys as were anticipated.  And I think LSUs guys like that were transfers.  Ruger/Sanders - transfers.  Not near as much power either.

I haven't seen some giant gulf of an increase in talent and quality teams from the Big 12 to the SEC.  It's there, but much like JJ said, the magnitude is bigly inflated by the propaganda machine built to constantly inflate it.

Now, having said that, with us and OU out of that conference I do believe that gulf has widened significantly.

5 different SEC schools have won the last 5 national titles. The gap between the ACC is definitely exaggerated as it is comparable, but the gap between the ACC/SEC and the rest is noticeable.

I might be a little off because I did this awhile ago out of curiosity but since 1990 the SEC has had a member play for the national title in something like 23 of the last 34 years

In the big 12 you can easily lose a series to an unranked team because even the decent teams are unranked or lowly ranked. Or win that series and get a lot of so what.
that same caliber of team in the sec may be rated 8 like Auburn when we played them so winning that series looks better and losing it wouldn’t look as bad.  So many ranked sec teams that it had the inertia of nobody drops out unless they can aggy it up, and look what it took for them to make their way from 1 to UR- losing to non-con and get swept at home plus lose a series to an unranked Kentucky.

i think there is little difference between number #2 in the SEC standings Arkie all the way down to #12 aggy. i think any team in there can win a series over any of the others.

Kentucky just won a series at Tennessee and followed that with a run rule win over ranked Louisville; they are a pesky team.

Aggy won road series at Tennessee and Pig.

Auburn had just swept LSU when they came into Austin.

Upsets seem to happen pretty often in SEC, teams like these are plenty capable of them.

Even Florida is getting some injured players back and playing better now too.

And aggy still sees their series win in Knoxville as superior to ours in Lexington because of rankings and their need to support their victim complex.

Georgia beats OU today 10-9 in Athens.

Series tied at 1-1.

Not surprising as both of these teams are really middle of the pack teams, which is a large group right now.

OU doesn't have really good pitching after Witherspoon on Friday night; he is really good.

Missouri just tried to bat a player not on their 30 man roster… And to make it worse it was Brock Daniels who has 98 at-bats this year.. How do you do that?? Yeah Jackson has to be fired at this point

Sully was very unhappy that we got swept at home by Vanderbilt.   He shook up the lineup and expressed his unhappiness, Augie style.  Since then I think we’re 7 of 8, and 6 of 7 SEC.   We beat piggy tonight.

I was afraid we would not make a regional, but now I feel better and just hope we get better and better as the year goes on.

I wish he had saved his Augie speech until after he played us.

Agree with this.  The SEC has just as many dudes who can't hit a curve ball as any other league.  It has more guys who throw high 90s, but half of them can't throw strikes.

Another pitching gem between LSU and Tennessee fright now in the 7th. Tenn up 1-0

Yes, two teams about to eliminate themselves from the SEC race, unless one of them gets a sweep.

It's getting to the point that Pig is the only team that has a chance to stop the Texas runaway SEC title train.

Texas keeps stepping up no matter what happens and gets it done, such as Duplantier and Farmer tonight against Aggy.

They would have to take a real nosedive for Pig to have a shot.

Man this is one of the white trashiest games you'll ever see.

Cajuns vs hillbillies, need a fucking translator to hold a conversation between those two groups

I have never seen an ump basically protect a coach like that from having to pull a guy.

I really want to hear the explanation of that one after the game

It used to be if you crossed the foul line that it became an official visit.

Maybe that changed, but I can't believe an umpire can come up to a manager standing on the mound and say you can't make this visit, or you have to make a change.

A coach makes this mistake; you have to pay the price.

Yeah he had already walked all the way to the mound, at that point you can't protect him from his screw up and having to make a change, or I should say, you shouldn't be able to.

it’s interesting to me to see high level college baseball and softball and how they seem to have switched with softball putting up good offense when back in the day games would seemingly always be 1-0 or 2-1 and baseball now having the 1-0 or 2-1 games

I don’t know enough about the timeout rules and the only thing i can think is that the D can get a free visit during the timeout the offense called but can’t say I’ve ever seen that and definitely have never seen an ump step in to stop a visit.

If that is true (D gets a visit during an offense TO), I could see the ump saying “the offense timeout is over. If you continue, it’s a visit and pitcher has to be removed”

doesn’t make sense, but that’s all I’ve got

The coaching staff has electronic devices to talk to the pitcher and catcher, the only time they can come to the mound, and it is not an official visit is to check on an injury to the pitcher. The umpire goes with the coach to make sure that this is all they talk about.

That's about what they were saying on the broadcast, is that Tennessee thought their visit was covered under the continuation time-out from LSU Johnson's stopping play to argue with the umps.  Then the ump ran over to tell him it wasn't part of the continuation of the first tume-out.

Still, I have never seen that before.

So if an LSU hitter decides he doesn't wanna use a Marucci bat does he get ex-communicated?

I think they douse him with Tabasco sauce and Raising Cane's until he changes his mind.
