And it fucking sucks that despite this series and despite their season, the ncaa will see fit to put them in the non-top 8 hosted regional that matches the Austin regional to give them a second chance at us and all they have to do is beat a top 15 level team.

For whatever round is the best of 3, dont recall if that is Supers or what they call it.... we'll get matched with B12  (AZ or KS schools and send Aggie to Baton Rouge or Southern Miss) IMO. If we are #1 overall, they wont send us the Ags, as I believe they will have too good of RPI to be matched with us.

Lemonis fired

Aggy should hire him. He knows how to win it all. Even schloss doesn’t know how to do it.  He’s no longer a sitting sec coach so they are a little late on that aspect. Trev needs time to count the pennies.

Wow, they didn't even let him finish out the season.

It is a good job with a lot of support. If I recall correctly, they almost hired Schloss back in 2018, but their AD couldn't get it across the finish line.

That's staggering.

"Mississippi State is the premier job in college baseball. The tradition, the facilities, the NIL offerings and the fan base are all second to none. Dudy Noble Field is the best environment in the sport, period."

lol.

Kudos to whomever I was making fun of this weekend for saying he was going to be fired. I would have lost a bunch of money betting on that.

Dudy Noble is a pretty slick set up, wish we had the room for it

Yeah, I'd be down for buying a condo overlooking our field.

Yes, a team with exactly ONE natty to their name is the premier program in college baseball.

It would be very difficult to make an argument for any team other than USCw or Texas.  LSU would be 3rd.  Mississippi State is so far down the list it's laughable.

Feels like there is very little benefit to firing a guy at this point in the season.

It would be hilarious if the interim takes them on a run and they are competitive or win a regional. Every AD's worst nightmare, but you crack open that door when you make a decision like this.

My favorite 30for30 is the Mississippi State baseball one. Clark/Palmeiro. Greatest college baseball team ever, then they get to the CWS and the program ends with Oh, btw they lost to a school that nobody knows. Maybe you've heard of it...

MSU is in the top 10, so I woudn't say that far down the list. The biggest key stat missing is National Championships.  But facilities, support, overall program, and players drafted...  would be closer to  5-7 range.

Reading some names being thrown around for MSU, and I didn't realize Nick Mingione (Kentucky head coach) was a long-time assistant at Mississippi State before going to Lexington. That one could make sense.

Cliff Godwin is another one but I'm wondering if he stayed too long at ECU. They are about to miss the tournament this year, and he has commented over the years about being extremely anti-NIL and portal, which won't fly at an SEC school.

Meh that isn't happening again. Meet Gary Henderson (interim coach in 2018 after Cannizaro got fired for being addicted to sex basically)

The team finsished t3 in the CWS.

This team has major isses.... New leadership was badly needed. We will always love Lemon for 21.  But its time.

And yes. we almost got Schloss in 18... but Cohen wouldnt wait.

Nick was under Cohen for 7 years at state before going to UK.

Kentucky was were we got Cohen from before we called him home.

Nick wouldnt be my top candidite by far. But he has done decent at UK.

Just no, the games changed too much for Cliff.

It’s splitting hairs. If they’re not top 10, they’re top 15. They are tied for 11th in appearances. The bigger issue is their performance when they get there. They have a lopsided losing record and several behind them in appearances have more titles.

That all said, people might argue Arkansas or Clemson over them, but neither of those schools have won a title. And what do you do with Florida State? On one hand, they go to the CWS a lot. On the other hand, they collapse almost every time they visit. It’s pathetic.

Florida State is definitely up there, despite the lack of titles.

They are the Charlie Browns of Omaha, but they do get there with impressive frequency.
